I try to keep up with the news, especially in this area, as I live only 10 minutes away. Lately, I’ve seen lots of information about the building where The Take Away is located currently. Hopefully, even if this project does get approved, The Take Away will still stay in operation… because simply put, it is amazing! I have been coming here for years and years and years and years. Recently, it changed, but really stayed the same. The storefront used to say«The Take Out», and now has changed ownerships and is now«The Take Away». The food has changed a bit, and is different from the past, but the quality is still great and I don’t mind the new group. They have all sorts of great dinner meals including(these are all according to the menu I took at the register inside) : a) Seafood dinners: clams, scallops, shrimp, haddock, and more b) Home dinners: some include chicken parmesan, chicken wings /tenders, and baked mac and cheese c) Pizzas d) Fried dough(super delicious and tasty!) e) Sandwiches(at least a dozen different) f) Salads(a few, such as caesar, Greek, garden) g) Appetizers: TONS including amazing onion rings, fries, buffalo and chicken wings, scallops, clams, and so much more. Now, all of the meals and great things about this place are all true, and all reasons why I come here and know so many others who also do, yet my favorite perk about the Take Away is the location. There are so few neighborhood places like this anymore, and The Take Away is nestled along Chapel Street(which is a main street, but doesn’t have any other business’ on it anymore). It’s so nice to see neighborhood business’ still thriving and being great assets to the community. I hope they never close… Anyway, staff are always friendly and they are always right on time, and gets every order correct. Hours are M-Tu: Closed, Wed-Th: 11 – 8, Fri: 11 – 9, Sat: 4 – 9, Sun: Seasonal. Cash Only. 5 stars.

Our flight got delayed then cancelled so we had to rent another car and find a hotel with available room, So we found ourselves in Norwood. Never been to Norwood before so I googled Unilocal to find an affordable and good place to eat, we found«The Take Away» wow! Great food, friendly people, fantastic prices! It’s a take out menu, just about anything you could want for lunch or dinner. I had the fish and chips, and my husband had the meatball sub, huge pieces of fish crispy fries, three large meatballs on the sub. delicious and affordable. Next time we’re in Mass we will be back!

I went here today for lunch. The food was awesome! Hot and fresh and a great value. I had the fried haddock sandwich. A large piece of fish cooked to perfection. I look forward to trying more items off of the menu.

I am that lucky girl who lives one minute away from The Take Away, so I get to enjoy delicious food with not too much of a walk. Owners Kathy and Mark are always nice and pleasant whenever we call in an order. They have some of the freshest seafood around. Hubby was worried that since we moved away from the Cape we were not going to get to have good seafood as often as we like. Well, not since we started going to The Take Away! Fried seafood platter is always fresh, crispy and plentiful. I love the fried calamari and lobster bisque. Hubby loves the chicken parm and fries. We have ordered many different items from The Take Away, and we have never been disappointed!

I can’t believe how great this food is! I had the fried clam dinner and baked haddock. It was the freshest seafood I have ever had. A great find! I wasn’t expecting much since the prices were so low. Unbelievable! My son loves the pizza and chowder! I hope they continue to do well so I can frequent them often. A great find!

For a take out style joint this wasn’t bad for a quick fried seafood fix. The lobster mac and cheese was pretty darn good with a lot of nice big chunks of fresh lobster. I don’t go here very often but all the times I have it was great. The ladies at the counter were friendly as well which is always a plus. Also tried some of my girlfriend’s fried whole belly clams, and while I’m not a clam fanatic like she is, they were pretty good. Her chowder was also quite nice to boot. Thick and creamy, like bailey’s. Old Gregg would approve. Will be back for more.

The previous review by me was when it was under the previous ownership and operating as «The Take Out» not«The Take Away» as it is now, I used to go there for my Fish n Chips and can’t say the new operation meets the old standards.

This place just reopened under new management as The Take Away, and it’s instantly become my go-to for my Friday lunches. The inside is all redone, and it feels like the inside of my old Cape house, with a personal touch. This place is family owned and run, and it’s almost guaranteed that Mark will be behind the counter chatting you up and treating you like family. Now on to the food… where to start? First off, the portions are HUGE! All the great fried food we all crave, even though we know it’s not the best for us. The sweet potato fries are must! Everything is made fresh and will be sizzling hot. The sandwiches are amazing! Stuffed beyond belief with high quality fresh sliced meats, non of that cheap filler stuff you get at chains. Note: It’s takeout only, no in-house dining, though there are benches outside. The only downside is that you have to wait to eat it!
