Great haircuts but, reception is horrible. She doesn’t acknowledge walk in or greet at all. I also noticed she makes barbers wait for her as well. A more polite and responsible receptionist should be sitting in front.

Place is great. They take their time, nothing is rushed. I recommend Clay, but I’m sure the rest are just as good.

Honestly I’ve been to a lot of barber shops in my lifetime, and gone to a second shop immediately after getting a haircut to try to salvage my head from a bad cut too many times in the past. This won’t happen to you here, they are a little pricey compared to most other shops, but it’s a small price to pay for piece of mind, and cheaper than getting your hair cut a second time. Today was my first time at Michael Jays, and although my fiancé, whom is a hair stylist, has been cutting my hair since my old barber moved 3 years ago, who took me a year to find I might add. I’m glad she was too busy lately to cut my hair, and made me an appointment here although, she might have just lost a client. And she cuts my hair better than my old barber, this shop is full of talented barbers that are true craftsmen. We all know once your in the chair you know if it’s a good shop from the work the other barbers put out and I feel confident to let anyone of the barbers here to cut my hair and I have already recommended them to friends if there regular guy can’t take them or is on vacation to go here.

Great barbers. Have always gone there for haircut and can always count on your barber on your style.

I’ve been to a ton of barbershops in my life. Recently, I was with a really talented barber who just didn’t see the value in honoring his clients time. Since I’ve been coming to Michael Jays and getting my haircut with Jacob, I’ve had great experiences.
My time is valued. I can tell because they honor their appointments well and he gets right to work and doesn’t stop until the haircut is done. That’s awesome! I went from waiting close to three hours just to sit on the chair to getting everything done in under an hour. Be proactive and call in advance. Small advice: call a day or two in advance.
Time is money and so far I’ve got nothing but great things to say about this place!

eff all the negative reviews about this place. Mike, the first barber on the left gives the best taper and fade in all of Jersey. The shop is clean, nice waiting area, and you’ll usually be blessed with saved by the bell or good music.

MichaelJays is the place to go to if you’re looking for clean cuts and an awesome environment. All the barbers get along well with each other, and do everything they can to make clients feel welcome. I’ve been coming here with friends for a year and a half at this point, and I see no reason why they would change shops any time soon. Like some of the other reviews said, you really can’t go wrong with any specific barber– they’re all good at what they do. It’s the kind of place that’s about the entire experience, and keeps you coming back!

I know Jay and it’s my first time going to Michael Hay and Jay was excellent. Very professional and knows how to cut your hair right and he’s fast, but yet good. I recommend him to everyone. Price is very good and even with a tip, still good price. Ask for JayDee Manlapig, next time you need a fresh cut.

My last time coming here will be my last time coming here. I might as well have been invisible because that’s how they make you feel. This place could be confused as a hangout for a bunch of 20-​something year old people because there’s just a bunch of people here doing random things. My haircut was interrupted at least half a dozen times because my barber felt the need to look at what other barbers were showing on there cellphones. This is not all on my barber though as the other barbers should know not to distract my barber when «working». On the plus side, the haircuts are half decent but at $ 20 you’re not getting anything special.
This place lacks the professionalism I expect in a barber shop.

Hands down, best place to get a haircut in northern jersey. They can do it all– fades, brooks, pomps, scissor work, shaves, etc. Be sure to make an appointment first though!

Spacious waiting area with TV’s. Great atmosphere and a very friendly staff. Much more than just a haircut. Worth trying it out!

Shop is nicely set up. Fade and scissor work is average. Shape up was not well executed — I noticed that the stylist pushed my sideburns back SEVERELY after closer inspection when I got home. Damage done and as a result, haircut is fcked up for the next few weeks. Would’ve been better off going to Supercuts!

Ask for JD for a fresh shape up and cut! YOU will feel like a million bucks. It’s 20 dollars for a cut but he will take care of you.

I have been going to Jay for my haircut since high school and will not trust anyone else. They are the best barbershop in North New Jersey. There is never a long wait and they have coffee, TV and an XBox to entertain you while you wait.
