I generally shop at Bebe just to browse. They are helpful and relatively attentive in the dressing rooms, willing to check for other sizes. They’re also willing to call other stores. Once, I wanted a handbag very badly. An employee stalked it down for me at Old Orchard. Once, I wanted shoes very badly. An employee called what seemed to be every store in the US and finally found a pair that would be shipped to my house. Problem is, this happened at Woodfield. The Oak Brook store has 2 entrances, and it’s a wide-open, airy store. So employees see you when you walk in. But I’d say only 50% of the time do they greet me.

I went to BEBE because my birthday is coming up so I wanted to give myself a few gifts :-) I printed out a coupon I got through an email I got FROMBEBE. The one i was going to use was 50 off 250+ which expires 11−30−11(at least this is what my coupon showed) once I was ready to check out they said I could not use it. I said why not. They said it had expired. I thought it was a joke. I argued a bit and said how is it my fault BEBE is sending out wrong information. Long story short they did not accept my coupon thay I printed FROMBEBE. Which I think is BS. I left and didn’t get anything. Happy birthday to me! Smh!

I am appalled that anyone would give this store 5 stars based upon service. I’m not even sure the employees know what service means. The employees are usually pretty stuck up which is just comical; you work at a clothing store; check yourself. I rarely if ever even walk in the store because I don’t think bebe is deserving of my business and there are many other places to find cute clothes… BUT I was shopping with a friend of mine who loves to shop here, so I entered. Anyway, this story could go very long, but I will try to make it short. I found a pair of shoes on sale, but they did not have my size. The girl said that I could order them. I told her that I normally wear a size 7.5; however the does only come in whole sizes. Since I could not try them on, we took an educated guess. She said that they ran small so to get a size 8, so I did. I received the shoes a few days later and they were too BIG. Conveniently, the receipt states that sale merchandise is nonreturnable. Though I understand the policy, I was pretty sure these shoes would be an exception since I did not have the opportunity to try the right size and I do not think it is fair to make someone keep something that does not fit; especially when they just purchased them 5 days ago. After speaking with 2 «managers» and the corporate office which was a joke, I think a 20 year old girl answered and had no idea about anything retail related, and then told me that the ultimate decision on the refund had to be decided by the district manager… which means that it could be done; they just have to be WILLING to do it. So I spoke with the district manager. Wasn’t this a pleasant conversation… I explained the situation and said that all I really wanted was a refund to a gift card so that I could purchase something else that I could actually wear. I explained how I worked in retail and customer service is important and blah blah blah, but he did not seem to care. He said«since you work in retail, you understand how returns go against your daily figures. You can come in and exchange the shoes for something this week in store, but we cannot give you a gift card.» This made no sense to me. What was the difference if the store got hit with the return today or another day? With the gift card, they would make up for the return at some point. I think it’s incredibly unprofessional to discuss daily figures with the customer. I’ve been in retail for 7 years and I solely make commission. When customers want to return something, I never make it about ME. Of course their return will go against my numbers and the numbers of the company that I work for, but that is service and that is why customers return to shop. Maybe that’s why Bebe stock is at $ 7 a share and my retailer is at $ 49 a share.

I LOVE bebe! I came in here to shop for my birthday outfit and the girl that helped me did a terrific job. She helped me pick out a purple dress. Purple is usually not a color I go for but I decided, why not? Anyways, it looked amazing and I bought it. Additionally, she gave me a $ 10 birthday discount.

I went shopping again at this location today, and WOW was there ever a night-and-day difference in the amount of customer service I received compared to last month’s trip. I’ve pinpointed the source of the difference, though: this time I was shopping on the main floor as opposed to the huge sale section in back. I guess I can understand that — the girls can definitely help you put together an outfit in the highly-organized area containing new clothes, but they can’t really do much when you’re sifting through the hodgepodge of sale merchandise. Lolita helped me out today, and she was AWESOME. She suggested I pair my corset top with a black mini skirt with some cute little pleats in back, and WOW did that outfit look hot. Seriously, I felt like a model — and that was BEFORE I slipped on the five-inch store heels. I bought the corset top, that skirt she suggested, and a pair of sale earrings(sparkly black studs in the shape of stars), and I didn’t even realize until checkout that the skirt she’d given me was on sale for $ 39! I still do think that Bebe is a hit-or-miss store, depending on what you’re looking for and how it hugs your curves. But this shopping trip was DEFINITELY a hit.
