I have been here several times for indoor and outdoor plays. Always very well performed. Professional sets. Sound is an issue, especially for outdoor plays. Anyone with hearing loss needs to sit near a speaker if outside, or near the front if inside(no sound system). My biggest issue with indoor plays is that the staff picks your seat for you. It is not first-come, first-serve or reserved seating. This is the reason I don’t go more often.

First time there, well done performance, but the chairs leave a lot to be desired. Sort of like waiting room seats, not very comfortable for 90 minutes sitting, still enjoyable

These guys are my favorite! I’ve been here twice already in the past year and they are extremely courteous and needless to say put on a great show ALWAYS. I usually trudge 4 miles each way from the Metra stop to the preserve to see their plays… the first time I ventured out there I got lost and it was raining… I called them and told them how I had kinda gotten lost, they drove to come get me! Who does that? :) Another time I was unable to make a show and they helped me get into a sold out show at a later time. Excellent customer service to say the barest minimum!

I’ve gone here twice now, for outdoor Shakespeare plays. Both were terrific productions. Given the outdoor stage, I am amazed they can put on such productions. Stage is a bit small, and sets are limited. But when the acting is great, those things don’t matter. Lighting, sound, and costuming are quite professional. The plays don’t start til after dark. People bring lawn chairs or blankets, and most bring a picnic supper to enjoy while waiting for the play to begin. Bathroom facilities are port-a-potties, so be prepared.

This theatre is in the Mayslake Peabody mansion in the Mayslake Peabody Forest Preserve in Oakbrook, IL. We caught«The Madness of Edgar Allan Poe» performance last night. It was awesome! + Great ambiance(it’s like being in an English manor) + Great performances + Outdoor performances may be available in the summer + Reasonable ticket prices + Free parking + You don’t have to fight through traffic to downtown Chicago to see quality performances + Best of all, part of your money will help in the restoration and preservation of the Mayslake Peabody Estate(an architectural gem!) HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!
