I thought it was excellente! We had the chile rellenos and was great. I had the tacos al pastor and tacos lengua. We had the small trays of langonistas. Man, that was excellent. Great sauce. They knocked it outta the park on this one, I get what people say about service, I didnt mind. I was left alone. If I needed something, I looked up and she was on the way. Worked out ok for me. Also, no soup. Maybe thats a lunch thing. Will let you know tomorrow(LOL) No leftovers it was so good. This is going on the list as a go to spot.

I will never return to this establishment. After receiving our food we discovered a roach walking around in the chicken tacos. When we pointed this out to the waitress grabbed the roach and dismissed it as no big deal. We left without eating any of our food and will not return there.

So delicious! My fiancé and I came here for lunch and are obsessed. I ordered Chile Rellenos and they were seriously amazing. I would highly recommend them.

Best restaurant in the neighborhood. Love their new seafood menu. We come here for carry out as well as sit down and the waitresses are always sweet and funny. We love it here

I think Chenchos has solid Mexican fare. We’ve never had a problem with service. In fact, for some reason, the waitress always remembers our teenage son… and we really don’t go here that often. They have a spicy combo bowl(can’t remember what it’s called) that is awesome. We’ve also enjoyed many of the combinations. My husband stands by the carne asada.

I am updating my review from 7 months ago. I am only giving Chenchos 1 star because my boyfriend loves their Burritos and I love their tacos. Their service is SOHORRIBLE. I have been to this location about 5 or 6 times since my first visit and none of them have been positive. Each time we visit our service is incredibly slow or things are forgotten. Our most recent visit, we did not receive tortillas for our queso fundido. My boyfriend’s burrito came out about 15 minutes after our appetizer AND my entrée. There were only 4 tables and 2 waitresses who couldn’t seem to handle the pressure. One of our visits, one of the waitresses was too busy flirting with a man at the bar counter than to wait on us. We will not be returning. Not even for carry out, I’ve had bad experiences with that too.

I haven’t had Mexican food that’s this good in a really long time! They have someone that knows what they’re doing in the kitchen! Been there 3 times in like 2 weeks and it’s consistently great food!

I am always on the look out for the best steak burrito. I had heard a lot about this place so decided to give it a try. I have to say the burrito was average in taste and barely had anything on the inside… it was very flat and definitely not worth the $ 6.50. The guac was very good… although I ordered and paid $ 5.99 for a lg(10oz), only to get home to see that I received a sm(6oz). They also neglected to give us any hot sauces. From now on I will go a couple of doors down to Maria’s Tacos/Burritos Marias, so far the very best steak burrito around.

Let me start by saying this review is for the Chenchos in Tinley Park. The first time that I ate here I would have given the restaurant 3 stars. Average food with a big price tag. The bill for myself and my wife’s carry out was $ 48 dollars. The guacamole was fresh but the only ingredient in it seemed to be avocado. The meat was a bit tough and not seasoned very well. We tried their signature appetizer which essentially looked nice, but not very easy to eat nor share. Now here’s why they are getting a 1 star review. I couldn’t find their hours on the website, so I Googled which showed 9 am open. Myself and the wife decided to give them another shot at breakfast. I drove up to the restaurant and their door reads open at 10. No biggie I live close by so I shot back home and drank some coffee. I arrived back at the restaurant at about 10:05 am. Two of their employees were standing at the door chatting. I walked up and the restaurant was still dark, so I asked them if they were open today. They we’re nice and apologized stating that they don’t know where their manager is and hopefully would be there soon. How terrible is that? Shouldn’t the manager be there early to prep for the day? I will never go to this place again. I’ll drive all the way to Pilsen to grab mexican food from now on. At least the food will be worth it and the price will be the same with the gas spent on the 20 mile drive. South side burbs still needs a decent taco joint and this definitely isn’t it.

Me and my wife loved everything about this place. From the beautiful atmosphere. To the amazing decorations. The customer service is outstanding and the food is top notch. This is the best Mexican food we’ve had since leaving California! 5 stars! Hands down!

Steak and pork tacos really good. Chips are not made fresh. They taste like they came out of a bag and they warm them up. Rice and beans were not anything special.

This hidden gem is excellent! I was amazed at how well the food was seasoned. The chips were accompanied by 3! Different salsas, one of which was served hot(never had before) really set the tone for the meal. For the entrée I had the camorones rancheros(shrimp with tomato sauce) and my wife had the tacos with beans and rice. Hands down this was one of the best shrimp dishes I have had in quite some time. And needles to say is was all washed down with some awesome margaritas, perfect way to end this meal. Can’t wait to come back! «perfecto!!»

OMGCHENCHOS! please get your act together! i keep coming back because your food is so good, but im not sure whoever is running the business knows what they are doing. ive probably been at this location 10 times, and half of them the place is horribly understaffed. we’ve had to actually just give up and leave twice because there just isnt enough people working to take care of their customers.(Its a shame Villa isnt across the street anymore for a faster option) Hopefully the service will improve(they need more help!) because i really love most everything ive tried, and id hate to see another place have to close.

Drove by this place all the time, without giving it a second thought. Being that it’s in a small plaza next to a small grocery mart and a laundry cleaners, it can be easily overlooked. An Indian snack and food market is across the street, too. Yet I was surprised by how good it was-everything from the service, atmosphere, and food. They don’t have lunch specials :(but they do have combination platters! I had the taco combination(9.50 for steak), and my friend had the 1 taco and tostada combo(around 8.50). Her tostada had avocado slices, sour cream, lettuce, and the CHEESE. They definitely do not skimp on the cheese. My 3 tacos were overloaded with cheese, not that that’s a bad thing. They gave us a rojo y verde sauce(which you could dip with chips or pour on tacos) and a mocajete salsa, which was hot, spicy, and authentic. The small cup of complimentary soup was ok, looked like a minestrone-mushy pasta type of soup, but would be even better if it was pozole or menudo. It’s a clean and dim place(like how it’s not overly bright with lights) and our server was very kind. The horchata is very good as well(only have small and large-I bought the large, of course: $ 2.99). Will definitely be back again.

Scores points for being a Mexican restaurant with a unique cooking style. Unfortunately I noted a heavy-handedness of salt and had an MSG sort of feeling after the meal. The Guacamole was salty, as were the steak taco and the stewed pork taco. There were some positives: Good atmosphere. I liked the green salsa. It had a nice vibrancy. Service at lunch was very good. Loved the Horchata. Still, I am Unlikely to return because of the salt factor, and because there are So many Mexican restaurants to try in the Chicago area.

Rarely will you find such an unassuming place with an atmosphere that hasn’t completely appropriated english-american culture and sticks to its roots. Everyone speaks with beautiful Spanish accents that I would love to have. There’s always some fun salsa/mariachi/tango tunes being played that arent too up beat but not too low tempo. They are willing to engage in conversation as well so I mean if you’re complaining about service it’s either because they are busy or you are at fault. The hidden gems are: The fresh and tasty guacamole and the sit-down experience where you receive extra portions as well as unlimited chips and salsa.

My friends and I were shopping at Orland for a few hours and didn’t realize that it was almost 9pm and we were starving! Next thing you know, someone mentioned Mexican food, and the only places nearby are Chipotle and Uncle Julio’s. One friend doesn’t like Chipotle and Uncle Julio’s makes me cringe, so I found this joint through a quick phone search. It was worth the drive. I got a torta de huevo(no jamón, since I’m a vegetarian) and it was a comfort-food hug on a bun. The girls each got steak burritos, which they both noticed was rolled on the griddle to get a toasty outside. They also loved that the steak had a crisp sear on it, and as one said, «there’s almost too much meat in this burrito.» Umm. excuse me?! That was all I needed to tell my parents about this place. They ate at Chencho’s the next week. Five days later, they brought friends here. I think it safe to say, that even though there are many other places near us, this is our Mexican place now.

This place has solid, authentic Mexican food for not a bad price. You get three different salsas along with chips & a cup of soup when you sit. All complimentary, all before your meal. Pretty awesome stuff. Both times I’ve visited I’ve had the enchiladas, which are delicious. The margaritas are yummy & not a bad price either. Give em a shot.

Had to give five stars because there is nothing to dislike about chenchos #2. Quality food. For starters they bring soup and chips with a variety of fresh salsas. The steak meat is flavorful and juicy. The chicken used in the tacos and tostadas is excellent. Our waitress was courteous, efficient and friendly. My 12 month old especially liked her. Kid friendly atmosphere. Beautiful decorations. Theres a small bar too. Visit chenchos or you’ll be missing out.
