Talk about the gem right under my nose. How did we miss this place? Pizza was delicious. We had half pepperoni and there was probly enough for the whole pizza. Cheese was brown and wonderful. Great pizza! Seriously. Im upset i didnt kbow about it sooner!

Phil’s pizza may or may not be the greatest in the entire world but it’s definitely in the conversation. This family-owned joint has changed little in the last 35 years. You like cheese? Next time you stop in for an order, take a look over the counter and watch them pile it on – real cheese too. Not that processed shit. All the pizza is outstanding, but my personal favorite is the sliced Italian beef pizza with giardiniera. The Italian Beef is phenomenal – spiced just right and when they load it on a sandwich? Best in town – better than Pops, better than Dukes, better than Mr. Beef on Orleans in River North. Good fries too – good chicken, but the specialty is Italian fare There’s no dine-in, just carry-out and delivery. It aint cheap but if you’re looking to squeeze a dime, order a horseshit pizza from Little Caeser’s or Dominos. Can’t beat this place if you like it piled on thick.

I rate this place ZERO stars. I called to place a delivery order a few weeks ago. I wasn’t informed in advance that if my order was over $ 35, they wouldn’t take a credit card for payment. I asked the girl that answered the phone if an exception could be made. My order was $ 51, not hugely more than the $ 35. I was hung up on. She didn’t even ask the manager. I ordered from Palermo’s instead. Absolutely delicious and there was no limit. I will never try Phil’s again.

Such a horrible experience. The staff only said sorry and that it was busy. Very imcompassionate to be a business of 39 years. We ordered 1 pizza at 630 arrived at 730. I understand they were giving 2 hrs for pick but at 830 they told me one more minute. Still at 9pm no pizza. If you messed up my order be honest. The manager whom i spoke with was a little more compassionate but i let him know i felt the treatment was personal because im black. They messed up another guys order in front of us and he was offered a comp and other things to make up for the mistake. I was offered nothing. So at 9pm i had wasted 30 minutes in there waiting for a pizza they said was coming up in a minute that i had ordered 2 hours prior and I never received it. Being treated that way and being the only person of color in there its hard to not feel it was personal. 5 families came in and placed orders or were doing a pick up and were in and out. 39 years of service and you mistreat blacks. Not good for business. I will make sure the better business bureau hears about this also.

1) Make sure you have a printer to print out their coupons if you’re doing delivery, despite the fact that anyone on the planet Earth can access their website and view the coupons being offered to anyone with an electronic device made after 1995. They won’t honor it unless it’s physically printed out. 2) If you are brand new to the area or are trying out Phils Pizza for the first time, make sure you have cash for a delivery order if you’re not just ordering one crumb that happened to fall off of a piece of their garlic bread. Any order over $ 35(if it’s your very first order) cannot be made with credit/debit. If you are going to commit credit card fraud, just pay in cash the first time you order and you should be all set for round two. 3) Make sure you have plenty of oil in your 17th Century lanterns at home so that you can see when the food arrives because that apparently is the type of crowd they aim to serve.

There is simply nothing like a Phil’s pizza. I’ve been going here for years. In fact, my father in law used to work here back in his twenties, and he is in his fifties now. They’ve been around a long time, and they know what they are doing. Somehow they have struck the perfect balance between a thin but hearty crust, and a massive amount of cheese and sauce. The pizza weighs a ton when you pick it up. They really pile on the ingredients. My go-to order is a pepperoni and sausage pizza, and I have to ask for easy sausage because they do NOT hold back on any toppings. The price is low in my opinion considering the amount and quality of the food. It is always delicious. Tip: I like to pick up a par-baked pizza to go and bring it home and bake it. I’m from Indianapolis and it is such a treat to have Chicago pizza at home :)

I have ordered from this place only a couple of times since I just moved into the area. They really surpassed my expectations. Best pizza in the suburbs. My husband and I are used to Pizza Nova in Chicago, and Paisans in Berwyn. Phils is just as good as my favorite pizza joints in the city. Good customer service and very good pizza. I have NO complaints about this place!

Very good pizza. I understand when people complain about service and quality of food which I have no complaints from Phil’s on either of those accounts. They give excellent amounts of ingredients and cheese. What I don’t understand is when people say they got food poisoning from a place and they have no idea that u wouldn’t have symptoms in an hour and if they did almost everyone that ate that sausage would have gotten sick. I use to run a restaurant and reviews that are given with false statements are irresponsible and ignorant. Keep up the good work phil’s!

Came here and ate a sausage pizza, the pizza was good, but never again will I return here. After eating an hour later I got a really bad headache, that lead to nausea,…going to the bathroom every 30 mins, fever and severe stomach pain for 5 days straight. Worst pain I ever had. Went to the doctor and was told it’s food poisoning. Took some test and it was their sausage is contaminated. Will never return. Sugest u don’t. I literally lost 10 pounds after getting that sick.

The pizza is GOOD. I followed the previous Unilocalers suggestions and got the medium(regular, not thin or thick) pizza(12.00) with sliced beef and hot giardiniera and it was perfectly crunchy the right amount of cheesy and the toppings were just a perfect combo. The sides aren’t so great the fries are just okay and the garlic bread was not the best. When I called the girl on the phone was not the friendliest so customer service definitely needs to be worked on. The wait was about an hour for delivery but it was the weekend so it came fairly quick. I’ve had a few things in the past such as their buffalo wings and their beefs. Overall I’d say just stick to the pizza if the pizza wasn’t as good definitely would have been a 2 star with that service level and just decent sides/meals.

A friend grew up in Oak Lawn and suggested Phils to me. He insisted that a small could feed 2 people. I was skeptical but he was right! It took me half hour to get there, but well worth it! Not greasy, not burning hot. Best $ 15 for small I’ve spent in a while!

Had a great Smop today for the hawks game. Excellent pie. A bit soggy but probably due to the green peppers and mushrooms. Well done not burnt. Hit the spot.

Unilocal says they close at 10:30 and I tried to place an order and it was 9:58. Young lady who answered was rude when she said they were closed. She hung up on me when I began questioning the time. Called back and a man angered this time and could of cared less when I had the same issue. Pizza is usually good though but service is King! Get it right,

I wish I can rate them no stars because there food totally sucks! It use to be so good now it’s just plain nasty! There bacon wasn’t even cooked all the way it was raw, there sauce has no taste and they barely put any sauce on my large pizza with 5 toppings. Owner or manager was rude… not wasting my money on these people no more I rather order from Fasano pizza or papa pizano on 95th. The fries was super cold that my family didn’t eat it nor the pizza. I’m not going to complaint to them cause there already rude enough for me to hear there lies. The only thing that is good there is there pizza bread seriously. They will never get a call from me or business from any of my friends or family!!!

Customer is always right! This place was amazing and now it’s garbage. I picked up a large stuffed pizza and it was cold! I could stick my finger in the middle and leave it there for mins. I had to put it back in my oven! The worst part of this all was not the pizza but the customer service! I called and talked to some guy(assuming a manager) and he was SORUDE! I told him nicely about what happened and wasn’t expecting a free pizza or anything but maybe a loyalty discount or and apology. But No! He continued to say it was my fault somehow, even though we were waiting for the pizza to come out. Obviously it wasn’t cooked long enough or the ovens were off temp. It’s such a shame cause this was my favorite but the past couple times there pizza and service has gotten worse. You have definitely lost a customer in my family, friends, and me. My recommendation… take your time and money to a place that appreciates your business!

Still delicious after all these years. My mother and I started going to Phil’s about ten years ago because they had a phenomenal veggie pizza, however over the past six years we’ve lost touch with good ol’ Phil’s and guess what tonight when we purchase our extra large sausage and jalapenos it was still delicious!!! The crust is buttery and does not get soggy despite our extra cheese request, the pizza was still fabulous at warm temperature because it took me a while to get it home… yes I had to travel from the southeast side to Oaklawn… smh…but it was worth it. Phil… keep making wonderful pizza, stick with what you know and do not change!!! Customer for life… btw I posted a pic!

I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed Phil’s. I swear that I have in the past. My family has gotten pizza from here for 30+ years. It is a takeout joint only — pickup or delivery. The staff and owners are friendly, and recognize you when you come in to pickup. Pizza is awesome. It is loaded with toppings, and weighs a ton. The sauce is not sweet. The crust is wonderful. It is not a thin pizza. Someone said the sausage is grossly large — and that is probably true, but I love their sausage. My favorite is the Phil’s special for a regular pizza. Their stuffed pizza is probably my favorite stuffed that I’ve ever had, anywhere. I like the sliced beef and garlic. So good! It is huge. Pizza bread. Highly recommend. They use a whole loaf of bread — and you can’t beat the price, portion, taste. I like to get this if I am having a party and slice into pieces. I’ve ordered their dinners and sandwiches over the years. I’ve gotten catering from them. Everything I’ve ever had has been consistently good. If you like thin crust pizza, this is not the place for you.
