Have been to Element several times and always received great service. We bought a Trek that Element outfitted nicely with a child seat. We have also gotten great help with our kids’ bikes that we didn’t even buy from Element. Highly recommend.

The crew at Element Cyclesport have always been welcoming, educational, and fun during every interaction. I’m new to biking and they’ve taught me the basics without upselling, taught me why I need what I need, and tricks and tips to commute easier. In addition, they have given ideas on how to find others to bike with. Recently, I went in to learn how to put a basket on the back of my bike. I needed a fancier one due to my brake system($ 50) but they installed it for free and within about 10 minutes of me arriving(or shall I say, 10 minutes after I made up my mind). Additionally, they installed my water bottle cage that I bought elsewhere for free. And gave me a free water bottle to put in the water bottle cage. For free. Awesome people. Awesome service. Just awesome. Walked out spending $ 50 and was a happy camper in the process! They definitely earned a customer today, thanks Element!

What a great addition to Oak Park! Our family is currently outfitted with their bikes, but we have walked by a number of times, admiring their accessories and wishing for new bikes! Stopped in today for the first time, as my 4 year old’s bike chain would not stay on. Didn’t know what to expect, or if we would have to leave her bike, but Alden came right up to help. He immediately took great care of us and wheeled her bike right back to the repair shop. In no time at all, he figured out and fixed the problem for us and my daughter couldn’t have been happier! There are many options out there for bike shops, but we will definitely be back to Element. Fantastic customer service from Alden and all the other staff were extremely pleasant as well. It’s nice to know their staff is not only knowledgable, but friendly as well… plus they know what’s truly important, making a 4 year old smile!

Great store and very knowledgeable owner. I needed to get some advice since I was buying a bicycle as a gift and I received a superb service. The owner is very helpful and nice. They have a great selection of everything bike– related in great prices. Love the place

First time that I have reviewed a store but since opening, this store has been incredibly helpful! First, my girls wanted to do a triathlon. Of course tri wetsuits are very expensive, the girls were very small, and we didn’t know if they would like triathlons or not. So the owner gets a supplier to lend them a couple of their sample suits. We used them twice and the girls haven’t had the time to do triathlons since and are now much bigger so that was a huge help. Then we needed a bike rack. Looked online, got reviews, and prices. Thought we would just look at Element, given they are local. They sold us a great rack for a price that matched any online offer we could find. Many times, we have brought our bikes in for tune-ups, repairs, etc. A couple of times when I thought I needed repairs, they made a few adjustments, fixing the issue on the spot and charging me nothing. So when the bigger charges come, I have no problem because I know how honest they are. Now, we bought a bike from them in January and stolen this week. I called the store for any info they had on the bike. They had the name of the bike, the color, the serial number and the receipt. They provided us all that we needed for police report and anything that could possibly help with insurance. Then they sold us the same bike again, helping us out a bit because of the situation. Could not be more grateful for their consistent help, outstanding service, and friendliness! Good to buy local and better when they are just so fantastic.

My new favorite bike shop! I went in to test ride a brompton and while I did not buy one from them(found a great deal on ebay) I have since taken it in for a check-up and will be taking my road bike in as well. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable and made me feel very welcome. Plus you can tell that they really love bikes as well. Love this place, highly recommended. I am a Chicago commuter and long distance road rider.

Great staff, very knowledgeable, and explain things at your riding level. They don’t have that biker snob attitude. Show you all the options and pricing options and then let you think about it for as much time as you need. I will be back

I’ve bought bikes from 3 different area shops over the past 10 years, this has been the best experience. Great shop with plenty of options and accessories. 5-star customer experience in all areas. I recommend John, but everyone there was friendly and helpful so the whole shop vibe was good and I’m sure anyone will be helpful. It’ll be my go-to shop for awhile.

Very, very helpful staff. The gentleman that sold us a mint green bike yesterday for our five year old was extremely helpful. He gave us lots of tips, measured her, and was very eager to help in any way. We will be back here now for all of our biking needs. Great spot.

When you get«help» as in old school«I care about you as a customer not as a potential sale» you really notice it, and this place is very helpful. Went in to see about getting a new bike for our 5 year old, left not only with the bike, but a big fan of the staff. Nice selection of bikes, but the customer service is really the reason to check this place out.

I came in with a flat tire on my Bob jogging stroller. And three kids four and under. One guy took care of the tire and showed/talked me through changing it so I can do it next time. While I held the fussing baby. The other showed my kids the small bikes, pushed my two year old ride the pink one, showed them how to use the pump and played with it like a clothes dryer. It was $ 25 for the tire, a tire tool so I can do it at home and the labour. I had a great experience and we will be back. They had some nice little kids bikes and a decent selection of kids helmets.

Fabulous. I’ve been in the shop 3 times and have been so impressed with staff, service and merchandise that I felt compelled to write this review. I am new to the world of triathlons(and cycling) and the staff at Element Cyclesport has been hugely helpful in getting me ready for my first triathlon and made the shopping process fun and easy. They answered a hundred of my questions with enthusiasm and a smile. I had been to some other bike shops in the city this summer debating whether to buy a road bike or continue to use my sister’s hybrid for my first triathlon and while my experience wasn’t OK at the other stores, my experience was much better at Element and I ultimately decided to wait to purchase a bike, make sure I like triathlons enough before making the investment. My first trip I browsed and learned about the bikes they had and on my return trips they tuned up my old bike, repaired my petals and adjusted the fitting of my seat and also help me outfit it with a saddle bag, tire repair kit, tools, dual water bottle holders and bottles. The store itself is corner located with easy street parking and the shop is nice, clean and inviting(filled with light). In addition to bikes they stock a great breadth of merchandise(not as much triathlon gear as their sister store in the city) but really a surprising amount of essentials and affordable luxuries. They have got you covered on all your bike accessory needs, cycling apparel, sport sunglasses, tri gear(tri jerseys, swimsuits, goggles tri mats, tri bags etcetera) and energy gels and water bottles. really great store with great people. fast affordable, maintenance and no attitude!

I brought in my 25 year old bike with some serious problems. Unfortunately it had reached the end of its life, but the mechanic went out of my way to help me get a replacement frame. We talked through various options and costs, he never pushed me to spend more than I needed to, and was able to save most of the parts off my old bike for my new one. He even determined the best frame size for me and made sure the fit up was perfect. I highly recommend, they have an excellent knowledgeable mechanic.

Located right on the corner with metered street parking, nestled just down the street from the Frank Lloyd Wright home in suburban Oak Park. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They were patient with me and let me take different bikes for test rides as I struggled to make my decision. Once I made my decision and purchased my bike, one of the staff helped me get it into my car pretty easily. Oh, and on certain days, they have their pugs in the store. Even the dogs were friendly. They were all over me, panting with tail wagging. Hard to dislike this place. Great location, fair prices, adequate stock and friendly staff. I highly recommend them, especially if your in the market for a bike.

Been in a number of times over the last few weeks with basic needs: bike tune-up, saddle adjustment, brakes — certainly not the stuff that would interest the lycra-clad, «Scorch-the-LFP» crowd. And I’ve see all types of bikers in there(commuters, lycra-louts, BMXers, etc.) who have been likewise impressed. As a year-round commuter to Chicago without a bit of «lycra-tude» I enjoy the laid-back helpfulness of the the owner and mechanics — both of whom are lifelong bikers.

This is for the folks who drive to the bike ride, are more concerned with looks and labels than the gear itself. I have been in there three times, and have never felt welcome — but I don’t show up in tri-gear. I own 6 working bikes, do not have a car, and spend a LOT of time on my bike — and hence in bike shops, but could not get a sales person to give me the time of day. Not a lot of stock — if you want service, folks who know bikes, and a welcoming attitude, go elsewhere.
