Unless you give off the hipster vibe when you walk in the door, the owners will treat you like your unworthy of being in their presence. The male hipster owner is a jerk of the highest order. They treat you like your about to steal something as soon as you come in. It’s a small store and there’s hardly any room to move around in. He likes to position himself directly in front of you, to make you feel uncomfortable. The customer service in this store is not consistent with the other small businesses in the area. The owner takes himself way to seriously but his wife was awesome in helping me when I bought a hat about a year ago. Be warned, that you must have a beard when you go in the store.

This place is the best. Too many people on the Goorin Bros train these days and I wanted to go back to Kangol… I got phone-friendly gloves, wool hat, and more. They also carry the brand Marone which is a great alternative of you are Kangol’d out. If you are a conguero come here to get your hat.

I would do an entire write up but it’s not worth it. This store takes itself too seriously and it’s a shame. Really nice hats sold by not so nice people. You’d think a town with just about nothing to do would pride itself on costumer service. You’re selling hats, not splitting atoms, please change your outlook on costumers, thanks.

I agree with other reviewers that HooDoo Headwear is well organized and unique which is why my family was, at first, excited about the store as an addition to our Oak Park community. We are adding to our steampunk collection and stopped in to look at some beautiful leather top hats. But the gentleman who was working there looked us over, then said in a condescending tone, «You do realize that this is leather, handmade, and quite expensive?» I’m not sure what prompted him to ask that question — my son is a teen and we are not Caucasian. But he basically treated us like we couldn’t afford to shop in his store. Granted, quality steampunk garb tends to be on the pricy side in most places. I asked him the price range for the leather top hats which he shared with me but did not seem eager to sell to us. We have purchased steampunk costume apparel in several other places, for roughly the same amount that they are charging at HooDoo, and have not had an issue with condescension. I’m quite disappointed at the service and attitude. I think we’ll be taking our hard-earned cash elsewhere.

This is a great little store in the heart of Oak Park. They have a wide selection of hat styles and price ranges. The service is outstanding! Maybe you don’t think you would look good in a hat — this store can definitely challenge that notion! Trying things on is encouraged. They have plenty of name brand hats(stetson, kangol, etc) and also some couture items(with the price tag to match!). They were having some sales when I went with my husband with hats as low as $ 25. Highly recommended!

Handsome store in a great location with service that is not too little, not too much… but just right. And, you gain an education along the way. It’s remarkable how many styles and sizes are displayed in this relatively small but not cramped space. High quality selections are found in this classy yet relaxed store where past meets present.

Got an adorable white beret from HooDoo — awesome vibes with great music playing, and George was super helpful and nice. There is a hat in there for EVERYONE — for fashionable ladies, blues musicians, and cool cats :)

My mom and I went in this shop and we fell in love. They don’t make hat shops like this anymore, and the employees know a great deal about the products they sell. They can fit the perfect hat to whatever style you have. Some of the hats the man was suggesting were not something I would have ever picked for myself but when I tried them on, they were perfect! At least stop in to see the shop even if you don’t wear hats, you’d be surprised at what you can find. Everything is quite original so you won’t see anyone else wearing what you have.

There is a great headwear store in Oak Park. HooDoo Headwear is in the esthetically pleasing part of Oak Park. I live far west and forgot I might need a few quarters for parking, but found some loose change in the car. So, bring a few quarters. George, the owner, was working the day I stopped in. I found George to be knowledgeable on the styles of hats and the scenes for which they are best suited. The hats were in neat displays and not just in random piles. I am newer to dress hats and find I can not wear baseball caps to clients these days. HooDoo has dress hats and nice caps that are more casual from $ to $$$$. I found hand-made hats sizes vary and it was good I was able to try hats on in the store, rather than take my chances online. I left with a dress Dobbs, and a couple casual Kangols … and instant compliments.(BTW, hats for men and women)
