We found this bakery last year. Their breads are truly artesan, their pastries amazing. We keep coming back as the way they bake the rich heavy bread is amazing. We live far away so we usually load up and freeze at least one loaf to put in the oven. You can’t beat their turnovers. Oh, they only take cash so that is annoying, but still worth it.

Thank you to the folks at Moss Rose Bakery for making one of the best tasting cakes ever. We were so pleased with the design that we wanted drawn on the cake! I could not have been more pleased especially since it was for my Granddaughters first birthday! We will definitely be back as well as recommend to all.

Who would have thought you could find so many types of fresh bakery cookies out here in the middle of the central valley? It’s very metro and down home at the same time. Iced cookies are reputed to be outstanding here but alas they were gone when we got there. Had to pick a new selection.

A big«Thank you» to MaryAnne Heath and her Moss Rose Bakery for the AWESOME wedding cake they did for us recently. We often go to Moss Rose for lunch as well. The fresh baked rolls make their sandwiches taste out of this world!

Delicious baked goodness! Try the bread! It’s the best thing since sliced bread! Cash only is my only negative issue with this bakery. I get it though. They don’t want to pay processing fees for small purchases. Makes sense really. They are trying to make some bread by baking bread!

The cinnamon rolls and turnovers are to die for! Get a cinnamon roll NOW, take it home, heat it up in the oven, and prepare to die and go to heaven :) Food is also great. Huge sandwiches, lots of sides, full chicken dinners, homemade raviolis, etc. Definitely not healthy, so don’t expect to find healthy options. I gave them one star off because the owner is very cranky and rude to children. If they breathe too loud, she will yell at them. If they touch the glass case to get a closer look at the cookies, she will yell at them. But I suppose it’s part of the old school small town charm? It’s worth it for the cinnamon rolls, at least. Even my kids would agree :)

I have ordered a rum cake now 3 years in a row for my bday. This year my bf surprised me and specially ordered a rum cake the same day from Moss Rose. I actually drove with him to pick it up. When I saw where he was getting my cake from, I was a little disappointed. I had been there back in July to pick up some pastries and I was not thrilled. To my surprise, Moss Rose’s rum cake is the best yet. It was moist, perfect sweetness and the best part… tasted like rum. I couldn’t believe that they whipped out a cake this great the same day. And when he told me the price I was shocked how inexpensive it was, especially in comparison to the previous cakes I have ordered at other bakeries. Good job Moss Rose!

Superb bakery; everything tastes fresh made from scratch with fresh ingredients. The best flavorful moist cakes, soft crusty buttery rolls, mouth watering yummy cookies and fresh fruit pies. Always a happy customer when everything is created and baked to sheer perfection; no wonder this bakery has been a success for many decades !! Staff and owner always friendly and kind !! Aiming to please !!

I come to Moss Rose every time I’m in town visiting my mom. The French bread is amazing — it makes great toast and the best garlic bread ever. The cinnamon bread and coffee cakes are delicious as well. And the turnovers, cookies… I’ve never had anything bad there. The special order cakes and hot cross buns at Easter time are the best as well. Lunch is so good too. Ambience? Décor? Who cares! The food is all you need!

Still love this place, it just never gets old. I stop there for rolls, for tamales and especially for their seasonal sugar cookies.

Love this old place. I grew up in Oakdale in the 60s and 70s and nothing has changed there. Its like a time warp when I drive through Oakdale and stop in Moss Rose. Best pastries and cookies I’ve ever had from any bakery anywhere. Hope it stays around forever.

Located at the Cowboy Capital of the World, Oakdale, CA, this bakery is a favorite among locals. My friend and i travel an hour just to get my sweet tooth fix. worth the drive & the calories! If cars weren’t invented yet, I prolly would’ve saddled up a horse and ride out here and be the first customer of the day. If you go inside and they ran out of the donut holes & Angel Cookies, chances are I bought the whole batch. If youre passing through Oakdale or attending the rodeo, make sure u stop by and pick up some freshly baked goodies from Moss Rose

I’ve driven through Oakdale countless times en route to the Gold Country and Yosemite. But only yesterday visited this charming and very yummy bakery. They say you only regret what you haven’t done, and this is definitely a big regret that it took so long to find this gem. I am always on the search for delicious cinnamon rolls, made from scratch. So many are either gooey and sloppy(like Cinnabon), or they have an odd lemony flavor that screams«I was made from a mix!»(like Svenhard packaged cinnamon rolls). I love the light, fluffy, yeasty cinnamon rolls that have a pure cinnamon flavor, with light icing. These ones at Moss Rose are perfect. While we were there, we noticed a lot of people coming in for a loaf of the Dutch Crunch bread, so we grabbed a loaf for my brother’s family. They called this morning and said it made excellent toast! Also, when was the last time you had donut holes? I remember these from my childhood, and Moss Rose has them! So yummy!!! I noticed another patron enjoying a big sandwich, and was so tempted! And they had some amazing looking pies in the display case… Next time…

Have again: half a pastrami sandwich and turkey rice soup was very good. Plus, it came with a side and a cookie. The breads are also very good. The cookies and pastries are just a bit under sweet but a nice change from the overly sweet desserts I usually have. Very friendly, but very busy staff. I liked in Oakdale for many years but never came here until 2010.

Yikes… Oakdale has more 5 star places than Stockton, it seems! Did we luck out today… after eating at 5 star Dan’s Smoke Pit we wanted dessert… coffee…pastries. How on earth could you want dessert after all the bbq? Well, it’s just kind of a habit… and it would be a very bad habit if I lived any closer. I would pick a house to live in right in between Dan’s and Moss Rose Bakery! Heaven on earth, I swear. This bakery has been there for probably a hundred years… not that I remember when it opened, ok? The have an old wood cabinet/bar
with a huge mirror that they keep the self serve coffee on. It is old! Talk about old? get this. the cash register is a ‘crank’ type! I am sure anyone much younger doesn’t even have clue what I am talking about.haha. I was full when we walked in there… but I was like a lost puppy that just found his owner when I saw all of those heavenly pastries. Omg,.amazing…that’s all I can say. My mom and grandmother (bless their souls) didn’t put out anything as yummy as this. Lets see. I had a blackberry turnover, a blueberry turnover and a peanut butter cookie. And brought home four more for a bedtime snack with a big glass of cold milk! I am surprised they survived the trip home on the motorcycle.haha. They were exquisite… literally melt in your mouth and stuffed with the filling…no skimping here. The crust was soo soft and flaky I’m sure that grandpa could even ‘gum it’! The turnovers are not the cheapest… but they ARETHEBEST! Cookie was good… and the other baked goods including the breads and coffee-type cakes looked really good, too. But what I will go back here for next time are the turnovers! Go there!
