Ever since I got my Alpenglow bamboo fly-rod I haven’t touched my old graphite rod. The bamboo rod just provides so much control — I always know what its going to do based on what movement I’ve made. It comes to feel just like an extension of your arm. Tony Bellaver’s workmanship is superb — not just in crafting the performance of his bamboo rods — but down to the finest details of the fittings, handle, and case. i actually keep the drop on display in the living room, it is so beautiful. On the river, I always get compliments about my Alpenglow rod, and never hesitate to recommend it.

Tony is a superb craftsman and has developed the process of building these bamboo rods through much trial and error, research, and practice. In short he does not take any short cuts. I have witnessed his methods in the shop of how he sources the bamboo stock to the meticulous wraps and finish. The most important thing about Tony’s rod building is that he field tests over and over to see how the rods behave on the river and how they perform with fish on. And he catches a lot of fish. He’s a fanatic in the best sense of the word. Get one of his creations before the waiting list is years long!
