I bought a bike from Clay and Steven about a month ago. They answered all of my detailed questions with patience and a smile. I haven’t bought a bike in years and if I need to buy another one, I’m definitely buying from them. Just brought my new bike in for their included 30 day tune up and Clay was so accommodating of my schedule. I love this place!

Very helpful with getting me the right parts for the repairs on my bicycles. Recently the bottom bracket failed on my racing/training road bike, Bay Area Bikes was able to get a replacement the same day even though it normally is a special order part and would typically take 1 – 2 weeks to replace under warranty. Good group of guys here!

These guys do a really nice job of taking care of my Brompton. They’re knowledgable, friendly, and are passionate about bikes. They’ve made a number of fixes/upgrades to my old bike that have helped a lot. I love it so much now that I ride to work nearly every day.

Thank you Bay Area Bikes for always putting up with me and my minor repairs every other week. I am very happy to be a customer of Bay Area Bikes. I purchased my Raleigh Rush Hour in May after my boss gave and a gift card for my birthday. I was commuting on a older bike that was quite heavy and on its last life. I purchased my bike at their Downtown Pittsburg location and was able to test drive and have my bike adjusted then and there for a comfy ride. I’ve had the bike for some months now and have returned to Bay Area Bikes for all my Bike needs. New inner tube(twice) New pedals New wraps Bike lock and cable Tire pump Each and every time I enter this store I am greeted with a smile and treated like me and my bike are V.I.P.s. Thank you Bay Area Bikes.

After going to many bike shops to get a mid level hybrid bike, I felt defeated. So many shops are staffed by total bike snobs. They shoo you away if you don’t want to spend $ 2,000.00 or make you feel like an idiot if you don’t know what you want. This shop is different. They are friendly and approachable. They won’t oversell to you. I love my bike and the great service that I continue to get with the free tune-ups. I highly recommend this business!

I recently rented 10 bikes for a small corporate event I was coordinating. My company wanted to do a brief ride around the Oakland area. Everyone I spoke with at Bay Area Bikes was incredibly helpful and friendly. The process of renting 10 bikes was relatively painless and very fairly priced. Everyone was happy with their bikes, and many were tickled by the fact that each bike has it’s own name. I would work with Bay Area Bikes again in a heartbeat!

Clay, Steve, and Morgan– Great People! Friendly, helpful, and forthcoming. They love Bikes and share the joy! Bought a bike from them, it was ready to go and so far it’s a sweet ride! I haven’t needed any mechanical expertise as yet but so far I’m feeling pretty confident that they could handle most jobs I would throw their way. Check them out.

I appreciated Tyler’s kindness and patience teaching me how to install, remove and store the valve for my bike tire. I know– bike rookie. For my dollar thirty seven purchase you’d think he was selling me a $ 600 bike. Great vibe. Clean store. I’ll come back.

Came in needing a new tube for my back tire, they got a new tube set up in about 10 minutes for $ 15! Super nice guys working. The bikes + gear look pretty pricey, but for service, I would recommend!

Awesome bike shop. I had my bike worked on today and I was met with friendly staff, reasonable prices, and a great store to meander through with lots of great bike accessories. And while I waited about 2o minutes, I walked over for a coffee and pastry. It’s a perfect location on Broadway and they are open seven days a week. Thanks guys.

Great bike shop! Friendly, knowledgeable, low pressure sales. An awesome line of folding, electric, and cargo bicycles. I love it when you feel like the salespersons are trying to help you get the best possible bike to meet your needs. I watched the mechanic do the setup. It was great to see such attention to detail. I am really stoked about my Xtracycle. Thanks, y’all! :)

Time: 5:28pm/68°F partly sunny Purpose: Attending the Oakland Internet Cat Video Festival up the street, supporting a friend that likes cats. Set-up: Bike shop concept focusing on electric and folding bikes. You will find all the commuter gears in this shop versus across the street were high end carbon fiber racing, mountain, single and fixed gear bikes. Bags, panniers, wool socks, helmets and outerwear. Staff: Couple of personnel on site answering questions to potential future bike commuters. I pull up meaning to enter Audi dealership but saw a canopy with BAB words and signature logo. I had my friend with me so we said let’s check it out. Walk in within minutes people were welcoming. They even had food, tortilla chips, and Drakes beer nestle on ice. Cleanliness: Grade A+ immaculate. Eats/Drinks:(Only today grand opening) Had me half glass of beer, 5 – 6 full size chips, half chicken tamales, veggie Verde tamales, and about one oz of guacamole and salsa on paper plate. Products/Services: Electric & folding bikes, helmets, socks, panniers, message bags, family bikes, cargo bikes. Repairs, maintenance, safety gears and demo rides. Brompton and Tern company are represented but I’m sure there’s other brand also. Punch Lines: Very knowledgeable staff, friendly, no up selling, helpful, newest shop uptown in area. Broadway shuttle, YMCA, street/garage parking, bars, trendy restaurants, art murmur(check dates/events), car rentals, Korean eats on telegraph. Tradeoffs: You get assistance with your bike if there’s any problems or questions to be address. Big box retailers will sell it to you once it’s yours they disappeared and tells you to call 800 number. Local friendly same day response what else can you ask for? Final Thoughts: I lived in SF and have seen a spike in people biking in the last 3 years or so. Cities that sponsors or take part in cycling communities will benefit more from it. Ask how? Just this past Thursday it was bike to work day. There were more bikes on the road this day as new riders, novice, intermediate, expert all are out representing. Here are a few examples of why I ride. Save time searching for parking spot, meters, tickets, no pollution, stuck in traffic, arrive/leave when ever I want, more sense of freedom. There you go folks now grab that ride hanging in garage dust it off and ride. Let them ditch your car!
