Amazing. Jason has now replaced two different broken windows and my clutch. I am so very pleased to have found him (as having someone you trust to work on your car is really, really important). He is professional, very fast (he replaced one of the windows in less than 8 hours) and does amazing, reliable work. I would highly recommend him and will be using him for years to come.

Awesome. Friendly. Fixed my headlight last minute and I didn’t even get out of the car. My car required a STAR smog check though but he directed me right to the nearest one and told me to mention his name for a discount. This guy is on point.

Jason is my GO –TO for all my auto needs. Super honest guy with great work ethic. Came in with my engine light on on my 2002 chrysler minivan. Jason ran a diagnostics for free, told me there was a small leak in the e-​vap section of the engine. He explains any questions you have about your car without irritation or impatience like most mechanics tend to display. His price is very reasonable and him and his mechanics did a great job on my van. I have definitely found the right place to take my car.

This review is for integrity, based on one experience today.
My car developed an odd scraping noise only when turning left yesterday. I did some internet research and found there were several possible causes (e.g. torn CV boot, bad wheel bearing, worn brake pads, steering fluid problem, etc.), some of which required an urgent visit to a mechanic. The noise persisted for about 2 hrs and then disappeared.
I am scheduled to drive 1000 miles at 70 mph on i5 in the next week and needed the problem dealt with in the next day or two. I called my regular mechanic who was booked up for the next 3 days. He called Jason and arranged for me to be seen there today.
Jason called after examining the car and said that everything was ok. I think he is correct. In retrospect, the problem was probably something stuck up in the wheel well that worked itself loose (tree branch?), although I didn’t see anything when I looked under the car. I had to have it inspected to be sure there was nothing serious.
Jason could have said anything and I would have believed it and paid whatever it cost to fix. Bottom line, he was honest and did not push unneeded repairs.
He didn’t charge me for his inspection. I offered to pay for the time he spent, but he said since there was no repair, there is no charge.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use his shop again.

I highly recommend this place. I went here after another mechanic told me I needed $ 3000 worth of work on my car. Jason told me I didn’t need any of that yet and had 30% left on all the things the other mechanic told me needed replaced. After checking out my car, they charged me nothing and it was the first time I’d ever been to this place. I will be going here for all my auto needs!

I’ve been coming to Jason and Jimmy for years, for one reason, they are honest. It is so difficult to find an honest mechanic, many will try to repair things that aren’t broken, or are unnecessary, squeezing as much cash from you as they can.
My experience with Jason and Jimmy has been quite the opposite. They tell me the things I DON’T need to have replaced, even when I ask for the service to be done. «No, your spark plugs don’t need to be replaced yet… your brakes still have a lot of meat left, they’re fine… etc.»
His prices are competitive, and combined with his honesty, it makes for a carefree experience. I just hand the keys off and I know they will take care of me.
You usually have to pay a premium for peace of mind, but with these guys it’s all inclusive.

I have been going to Jason’s for years. The thing I love most about Jason’s is the shop’s honesty. Bottom line — they won’t perform unnecessary repairs! If they can’t fix something, they will let you know. We have several older vehicles and Jason’s keeps them running without costing us a fortune.

Jason’s Auto Service has saved my day twice over the last two years, both times when my 2000 Saturn died unexpectedly in Emeryville and Oakland. I’m no expert in the field, but prices seem reasonable so far, and Jason himself is super friendly and respectful. I feel lucky to have them so close by.

Jason’s auto service is great. They have highly competitive prices, and after a lot of various interactions with them I’ve come to appreciate the fact that they have a lot of integrity. On every level I’ve always felt that they’ve treated me fair. They come highly recommended.
If I had any suggestions at all (for the customer, not them): I’d point out that it’s helpful to know exactly what you want when you arrive… and sometimes, I think, it might even pay to write it down if you have more than one thing you want them to look at or work on!

I’ve gone to Jason’s 4 or 5 times. Engine problems, battery replacement, headlight bulb replacement…
Every time, they have been very professional, affordable, quick and friendly. I just had my headlight bulbs replaced on the tail end of my lunch break. It took them about 15 minutes (including removing the battery). I just pulled in, explained the problem and they fixed it asap even though I knew they were busy.
Love this place!

I’ve been going here for a while about 10 years probably. Referred about two people I heard they still go to Jason’s/Jimmy. Sometimes Jimmy just hooks me up in 5 min. if my lights go out or something. They have a crew that knows everything & how to fix fast & affordable. Thanks!

I’ve been going to Jason for years. He used to be at a 76 station on High Street (circa mid-90’s), but then eventually moved to his own shop on Broadway. I was so glad to find him again, since I had lost track of him after he moved! During the «dark years» when I didn’t know where he had moved to, I was at the mercy of the Toyota dealerships in Walnut Creek and Oakland, and it wasn’t pretty. Since I was reunited with Jason, he has kept both my 1998 Sienna and 2008 Scion running smoothly, and just serviced them again yesterday.
If you are searching for an experienced, reasonably priced and trustworthy mechanic, you should definitely give Jason’s Auto Service a try. Jason and Jimmy are always upbeat, friendly, polite, and — the best part — not trying to sell you a bill of goods. Seriously, there are times when I’ve gone in and suggested that maybe I needed new brakes or something — and Jason would check it out and tell me, «No, you don’t need that yet!» How many auto repair places will give you an honest assessment like that? I haven’t come across any others, so far.
This is not a big operation, so if you need a free shuttles or a waiting area with wi-​fi, this is not the place for you. However, Jason’s is located a block from the YMCA, a few blocks from Whole Foods, one block from Sweet Bar Bakery, and two blocks from the «B» free shuttle bus, so if you need someplace to wait for your car, you have plenty of options :-) And, if you are really in need of a ride to someplace within a reasonable distance — just ask. If they are not too busy, they are so nice I think they might even offer you a ride.

They are friendly, competent and efficient. I am a state employee with assigned vehicles for work-​related use and have taken my work vehicles here for a few years now. Since they are state-​owned vehicles they are all old, high mileage and falling apart so I rely on Jason’s crew to alert me to any impending problems/​failures. The invoices I get all seem to reflect excellent pricing (the state pays the bill, I just review the invoice). I just took my current vehicle, a 1998 Chevy Blazer, in for service and was very happy with the service and expertise. Recommended.

I’ve been taking my cars to Jason’s for many, many years. They are very honest and fair and will do their best to help you. Currently, our Jetta needed new brakes, and we had misplaced the special lug nut piece to remove the customized rims that my son had put on the car over a year ago. Somehow, Jason managed to remove the lugs without damaging the rims and saved us $$$$.
Jason has been the sole mechanic for our 1993 Camry, which now has about 260,000 miles and counting. We keep asking him if it’s time for a replacement, and he keeps telling us that the car is running well. Boy, has he been right on!

The service here was fantastic! I’ve gone here several times and the service has always been fast, inexpensive and friendly help. I’m a small female and so although some mechanics may be tempted to charge me more thinking I won’t know anything about cars-​this place treats me very fairly!

I’ve taken my car to this place for 7 years. Jason and Jimmy will move mountains for their customers. They are down to earth yet professional, friendly, and quick to respond to your repair needs. They will tell you how it is and get straight to the point. I have referred dozens of clients here over the years for everything from motor problems to wheel damage and beyond. 5 Stars. I top my car here for a smog repair. He as fast, efficient, fair on the price. He recently changed my water pump & timing belt. I’m taking my car right bk 2 him Monday for the next repair. I love him!

I (25 yr old woman) have been going to this shop for years. They are a upfront, honest and will not give you the run around. They also have one of the lowest labor fees around, I think it is in the 80/​hr range. They also let me bring in parts that I buy (ebay or junk yard) and installs them, so all i pay for is labor. I have saved a lot of money and helps keep the stress down. ps. bart is only a few blocks away too.

Do you like sitting around waiting for your car’s smog check to finish? I didn’t think so!
Jason’s blasted me out in 25 minutes, leaving me plenty of time to enjoy my day.
It is not the cheapest smog check in town (I paid $ 58 including certificate) but it is probably the fastest. And since time is money …

This is an awesome place to take your car. The staff here is so nice and so honest. And they don’t talk down to women. A good mechanic is so important and I’m glad I found one!
