Bay Island Gymnastics

I tried reaching this business on 4 seperate occasions, all to no avail.
The info listed on the website conflicts with the message on the voicemail and no one returns calls/​emails.
I wanted to inquire about enrolling my two children as well as hosting a party but will now look elsewhere.

My daughter had her 5^th birthday party there. All the kids had a great time. The staff kept them busy and happy. The staff was also very helpful with the set up and clean up. I’ll have it there again next year.

No thanks, staff was obnoxious on the phone and not willing to help get registered. I don’t have time for that, there are plenty of other options.

This gym is clean, nest and well organized. The class has a starting circle and ends with hand stamps. This is so important for my little one who is just beginning to understand structures and beginnings and endings .
The front desk has never been open when I’ve been there and that makes it hard to get questions answered. However email and phone tag get the job done but it’s just not creating a community feeling, it would be nice to be welcomed at the front upon

Love this place! My daughter comes here twice a week for approximately 3 months now, so far so good! Staff in front is friendly, knowledgeable, willing to help and accommodate schedule. All trainers seem to be pretty well with the children and have an assistant to help them as well. Bathrooms are always clean and well maintained as well as the facility. The only down fall about this place is you are only allowed one make up class, if you miss. You can only make uo class once and that’s it. It definitely makes sense, just my only complaint! ! We will continue going here for many months possibly years to come!!!

Our two kids (now almost 5 and 8) have been having their birthday parties here for several years now. We’ve loved the kids’ parties every time. The parties are really well organized, and the staff engages with each kid so every one has something at their level. They really seem to have thought through the party plan as well – they divide the kids into groups so it’s not an overwhelming free-​for-​all, and they have instructors with each group working with the kids.
After the kids get completely and happily worn out playing with the amazing long/​high swing, trampolines, bars, foam obstacle courses, rope swing, and jumping into a HUGE foam pit, they head on upstairs to the party room. It’s nice to have a separate and spacious room to get everything set up (and actually be able to talk to other parents) while the kids are doing gymnastics. You bring in pizza, cake, etc and whatever tablecloths or balloons you want. The staff comes up to help clean up. Easy, super low-​stress birthday party.
And one last thing. Our daughter’s party was scheduled for today, and she woke up with a really high fever. We were sure we’d have to just lose our $ (there is a no cancellation policy two weeks before the event), but they were incredibly understanding and let us reschedule the party for a couple weeks later with no extra fees. Amazing!

We held my daughter’s 4^th birthday party here, and were very pleased with it. The place is giant and can hold a ton of kids, the price is reasonable, and the activities are F-​U-​N. The staff did a great job of balancing open play with some special activities (like a crazy chair swing and trampoline-​track thing) so everyone had fun. You bring your own food into a party area, and they clean it all up for you at the end. Highly recommend it.

Love this place. My daughter has been on team for two years now and is having a great experience. The owner, Jen, is tesching her age great and the girls love her. My daughter is coming in first at meets and loves to compete. They really seem to care about her and even though they are not as serious as some of the other gyms, they are perfect for me! (and my kid!)

My son has been coming to BIG for over two years. When he first started, I was a big fan of this place. We even hosted two birthday parties here. But over time we’ve seen a lot of teacher turnover and general change for the worse. First, it is almost impossible to get anyone to answer the phone when you call. While there for my son’s lesson last week I listened to the phone ring nonstop. The girls in the office were too busy to pick it up. And at one point two women were looking for someone in the front office to help them and there was no one to be found. Second, over the past few months it seems like the gym has added more classes going on at the same time. It is chaotic and cramped, which is amazing since the gym itself is quite large. My son’s parkour class, which used to have ample space for obstacle courses and tumbling, has been squeezed into the leftover space not taken up by the older girls’ classes. Third, many of the teachers seem less than enthused about their jobs. This is a biggie for me. And since our two favorite teachers are now gone, and I am less than impressed with their replacements, I will be seeking a new activity for my son.
Just to be fair I will say that of course I don’t know every single instructor in the gym. There may be a few gems. One teacher that we like that is still around is Miss Jessica. In any case, I hope BIG gets things straightened out. I’d love to come back someday and enroll my younger son. Just not with things the way they are right now.

My 3 and ½ year old daughter has been in the preschool class for the past 6 months, and she loves it. Cati, her teacher, is wonderful with children. Sweet and positive, but knows how to demand and keep their focus – not so easy sometimes with preschoolers. The class is consistent enough to keep my daughter progressively advancing in skills, but different enough to be interesting. Interesting even for me– I am always impressed when I see the fun new ways they work on the equipment.
We also went to the mommy and me class when my daughter was younger, and that was a good experience as well.
I went to several other gyms with my daughter before joining here. It was the right fit for us because of the equipment/​space, the smaller classes, and the caring teaching style. Not that the teachers didn’t ‘care’ at other places, but their style seemed to be pitched towards the children who dive right in. My daughter needed teachers who noticed that she is cautious and would help her along in the beginning. At other places it seemed like ‘sink or swim’.
The gym is huge, with tons of fun equipment. Great trampoline and foam pit spaces, a rock wall and long slide, as well as lots of the standard gymnastics apparatus.
There are special, thoughtful touches too, such as: a ‘fun week’ where they bring in a jumpy house and pull down the rope swings, ‘star week’ where all levels are assessed and awarded little ribbons, a ‘homework’ (or parent laptop/​phone) balcony, a waiting area with toddler toys to help with waiting for a sibling. These all show me the owners really care about creating a great space and community for the kids.
Only downside, in the winter, is that the warehouse is cold, super-​duper cold. Little kids seem to have internal heaters though so they don’t seem to mind.

The staff is AMAZING! I highly recommend this place to everyone, my daughter loves Britaney and Athena! They are patient and know what they are doing

Full disclosure: My friend Renee N. is the manager of Bay Island Gymnastics. But, Renee’s awesomeness is only one of the reasons that BIG is so great.
Granted, my experience is limited. I don’t have a kid to enroll in classes — instead the kids make me feel totally inadequate while I wait to start the adult class (which is really an excuse to jump on giant trampolines). But, when we do have kids we will most definitely be enrolling them… and not just to give them some semblance of grace and agility.
Before going to Bay Island, my only gymnastics experience was through Parks and Rec, so I was amazed by the equipment that BIG has for all levels, from tiny kids to competition level. But, the more time I spend surprised that I haven’t sprained something in the adult class (Renee and Tim make sure that doesn’t happen, even for a klutz like me), the more the positive team work aspect has become apparent.
All of the coaches I’ve met are super dedicated and love coaching. If all of them are even half as dedicated as Renee, you kids will be in good hands and hey, they may even become awesome gymnasts.
