They did an okay, but not great job on my kids’ hair. However, they do not take credit cards or ATM cards, so I had to hike around Piedmont trying to find an ATM. What kind of real business doesn’t take cards these days? The only ATM machine I found nearby was Wells Fargo, who popped me $ 3 to draw money out. So, an extra 15 minutes of towing my cranky kids around, and $ 3 to get my kid’s hair cut.

i have nothing bad to say about this place. i’m a basic guy from MA who is used to inexpensive, non-flamboyant haircuts. i’m sure this place is capable of doing«hipster» cuts/styling just fine, but for what i needed(a basic cut), $ 20 isn’t bad. run by VERY friendly vietnamese people, their prices are excellent, very clean business, and they sell paul mitchell tea tree oil products!(score!) my ONLY wish: ACCEPTCREDIT/DEBIT CARDS!!! its almost 2016, i was not a fan of having to walk all the way down piedmont to CVS to take out cash! i’ll let it slide though ;)

I came here recently for a much needed haircut. The bf frequents this spot for haircuts and recommended it so I came along with him last week. My haircut, blowdry, and wash was $ 40 which is double what I normally would spend in Chinatown. HOWEVER, I was very pleased with the service and results and that’s saying a lot. I don’t cut my hair often because I’m very particularly about length and such. I’ve been known to start crying when I’m unhappy with a haircut LOL. I definitely didn’t cry this time which means I’ll certainly be a returning customer. The hair products used to wash my hair smelled really nice and she really took the time to wash & condition it. So relaxing: D I forgot to ask the name of my hair stylist but will definitely try to find her again next time. She used all scissors which is a sign of good skills. I also didn’t get hair all over me afterwards which I appreciate. Great local spot on Piedmont Ave. with plenty of street parking. Just remember to put enough $$ in the meter so you don’t get a ticket! Takes credit card and appointments. Also sells an array of haircare products. They also have other salon services available.

BetterCuts does not sterilize their implements between customers, which the law requires. I made a post about this which was taken down right away. Recently a few spray bottles of disinfectant have appeared on the barbers’ counters, but in three instances the barbers didn’t use the spray before they cut my hair. One lady just blew on the clippers to remove the old hair. The result can be a super itchy aftermath, which I have often had. Spray is less effective, clipper heads should soak briefly in disinfectant.

The quality of your cut really depends on the stylist you get. That said, I’ve liked all my cuts — just been surprised at how differently each stylist interprets your basic«take an inch off» middle aged lady short hair. Bring a picture — and enjoy the comfortable surroundings, fast service, and friendly staff.

Overpriced and poor quality. Cosmetology licenses are hidden between stations behind plants and not prominently displayed. Despite having my hair cut here multiple times, never once saw any disinfectant. Last time I was there, a customer came in to complain about lice they acquired at BetterCuts. Never again.

I have been here 3 times and each time was a great cut. Hannah gave me a shampoo and cut the first time and it was great. She was extra thorough and very detailed. I do recommend getting your hair washed before cuts if you have product in or you might have stray hair everywhere once you wash it. The shampoo almost put me to sleep. It is close to a massage. The other 2 times I got cut by Cindy. She also did a great job as well with the cut and shampoo. I feel like all places around this price point are hit or miss. Im sure others have different opinions but having had haircuts at zipclips, super cuts, and higher end salons, this place is great for me and the nice is good.

It’s not hard to cut my bald head. But it needs to be done, and these folks do it right. Friendly and conversational, if you’d like. Clean and efficient. Han and Thrin are great. I don’t go for 3 months and they great me warmly by name. All the little extras, too, that make it worth it to have someone else take care of you, instead of using the«vacuum-cutter» at home :-)

If you want to get your hair cut by someone who can’t quite follow directions, this is your spot!!! You’ll be super satisfied by the lack of direction-following ability. I went in looking like a respectable, yet somewhat rough-around-the-edges individual, and left looking like a sad puppy. I can be the one to blame in this occasion, given the fact that this may very well be a pet grooming shop, and its proximity to Pet Food Express would indicate such a conclusion.

My haircut was good and the customer service was great. I happened to be in the area at the time so I came here, typically I get my haircut in Hayward. Hayward has way more divey shops that do similar work for about half the price of this place. The value of paying almost double to the quality did not make it worthwhile for me. It was $ 19, then after 20% tip, $ 23.00. I typiclly pay around $ 8 to $ 10.

This is my go to place when I need a hair cut. I have a lot of hair and it’s always long when I come in for a cut. They charge a reasonable price and I always come out feeling fashionable and lighter when I come out. My fiancé also goes there to get his hair cut. They do a good job with women’s and men’s cuts. Friendly but not too chatty. It doesn’t get much better. :)

My daughter just got a cut. It took 11 mins for a straight trim. Pretty sure she used two spritz of water and maybe 10 cuts with the scissors, the cost was 25 $! A men’s cut is 19 $ and they took 30 mins. She said my daughter’s cut was more expensive because it’s long, it’s barely shoulder length! Then she asked if I wanted to add a tip, ah no, here’s a tip, don’t charge a ridiculous amount for mediocre service.

I’ve come here for a shampoo, trim, and blow-out about 5 times now and have been very pleased each time. I’ve asked for Hana each time, and she’s friendly, attentive, skillful, and definitely took my input and preferences into consideration. Very happy with my new haircut, and it was a bargain. Also love that she took me promptly at my appointment time. Just wanted to update this to say they no longer take credit card, which is annoying, bc I never carry cash.

Cindy was nice. Fast, friendly and professional. I left feeling so much better and looking handsome. Walked right in and no wait. This was a first. I used to live in the neighborhood and whenever I went in there would always be a couple of people in front of me but the wait was never long anyway. I’m not fussy so I’d recommend if you need a quick straight forward tidying up at a very reasonable price.

Such great hair services at the beginning that unfortunately went slowly and consistently downhill. Service is often rushed when the number of walk-ins swell, leading to sloppy results. Interaction has been at times overly familiar, unprofessional, and plain rude. When you tell your haircutter that you asked for the hair to be cut shorter, and he responds flippantly with«oh shut up, I know what I’m doing» — take it as a sign to find someone new. Still usually a decent men’s cut for $ 17. So two stars.
