I never leave Unilocal reviews, I only look at them, but I have to say that this place is INCREDIBLE! I ordered the quarter rotisserie chicken with the vegetables and the sweet onion fries and everything was so good. The chicken was so flavorful and perfectly prepared, the vegetables were delicious, and the sweet potato fries were the best I’ve had! The woman who took our orders and served us was also very friendly! I’ll definitely be coming back!

My gf and I had dinner there last week. The menu is small but we were each able to find something we wanted, and everything was delicious. The waiter, who provided excellent service, kept us informed as my gf’s half rotisserie chicken was cooking. I had the Lomo Saltado and a tasty glass of cabernet. We watched soccer on the corner TV while we waited. Their web site at is not up to date; for example, the current prices are a little more expensive, and the quarter chicken is not listed on the dinner menu any more, only lunch. But we didn’t care. We’re planning to go again.

I’m originally from Toronto Canada, and was in the Bay Area on a work trip. A colleague of mine recommended this place as a must try and I must say coming from a multi cultural place that this was a really personal Peruvian experience, credits going to Irena and Daniel for being wonderful hosts. The rotisserie chicken is a must try.

I work down the street and this restaurant was suggested to me. I regret only getting a quarter piece of chicken lol!!! The plaintains were delicious and that rice was THE best! You get two aioli sauces and both were excellent. Great service and great food!!! Definitely coming again!

My friend and I discovered this place walking down Piedmont. As we perused the menu from outside, a passerby stopped and said«You should eat there, it’s delicious!» We definitely had to try it after that, and we are very glad we did! We both went with their specialty, the ½ rotisserie chicken that comes with 2 sides of your choosing. I chose the grilled veggies and plantains, he went with the beans and plaintains. All very fresh, very flavorful. The chicken was perfectly tender and the skin was out of this world! On top of that, the server was very friendly and attentive. She took a lot of pride in the restaurant and the quality if the food. Definitely happy to have discovered this neighborhood gem. Looking forward to returning!

Delicious and interesting Peruvian food at moderate prices, beautifully presented. I liked this much more than a couple of trendy Peruvian restaurants in San Francisco. Server and chef very friendly and appreciative of positive comments, can’t wait to go back.

Best peruvian in the bay! Chicha morada! Off the hook! Quinoa salad was on point, I had the lomo saltado and while it could have used a little more rice it was the best I’ve had, the meat was tender and juicy and the tomatoes where rediculous. My friend had the chicken and it smelled amazing and I know he can’t wait to go back! There was only one girl serving and waiting so it was a bit slow but very attentive and nice. Even the chef came out to make sure we enjoyed everything. A very pleasurable experience for sure.

Food was great. The people are so nice and the service is excellent. Did I mention how good the food is? Half a rotisserie chicken and two sides is an awesome meal and deal. Next time yucca fries for sure. Come out of no where hit is the Inca Kola, so unexpected. Glad they moved in on Piedmont.

I never would have guessed how much I would like the food here! They make the best roast chicken I’ve ever had. A friend of mine wanted to go here, and at first I was reluctant. I rarely order chicken at a restaurant, it’s not my favorite, and roast chicken is Mistura’s specialty. But she was persistent, and so we went. We shared a roast chicken with 2 sides. One of them was sweet potato fries, which was another pleasant surprise — they were great! In less than a week, I was asking my friend if she wanted to go back. I had a craving for their roast chicken. Who would have guessed! This place is a great addition to the restaurants on Piedmont Ave. Can’t wait to try the ceviche.

Seated by the window, which was cozy. The waitress was very attentive and friendly, as was the chef. Simple menu, we got the rotisseri chicken with sides of the beans and veggies, as well as the yuca appetizer. You can’t go wrong with yuca-it’s so tasty, and the dipping sauce was good. The rotisseri chicken was tasty and moist though a bit on the salty side, and we had tons of leftovers for the next day. The stir fried veggies were also good though not particularly memorable. The beans were typical, not strongly flavored. They had a decent wine list, and my Malbec was tasty, while my husband got the IPA. Reasonable price, attentive service, nice atmosphere.

food was great — being from Argentina and living in Miami for a long time — it’s been so hard to find good south american food but Mistura knows it well. Loved all the dishes and has a good wine selection — solid place to eat.

Excellent Peruvian food! The ceviche at Mistura is among the very best in the entire Bay Area. The chef uses the traditional Corvina fish, which gives you an idea what real Latin American ceviche is really about. The Pollo a la Brasa(marinated roasted rotisserie chicken) is excellent. Huancaína(yellow Aji Amarillo pepper sauce) is a must have with the roasted chicken. Smear it on everything. This is perhaps the greatest sauce invented – and if you haven’t tried it, you will find yourself dousing it on your rice and potatoes for the rest of your life… delightful! The Lomo Saltado(beef and onion sauté) is outstanding. The Causa is very good. Don’t miss the beans, rice and you have to have the salsa criolla as well. Piedmont Avenue is filled with lots of good restaurants. This is an excellent restaurant and a delightful experience. Enjoy!

Had the rotisserie chicken withbeans and veggies. Also the corvina ceviche was delicious. Good sized portion to get you full but not heavy to the point of taking a nap after you eat. Service was very friendly and chef daniel came out to ask if everything was good. Only thing to make better is to expand their menu. Its always good to have more options but thats just my personal opinion.

Mistura is a small Peruvian place across from BayWolf on Piedmont Ave specializing in Pollo a la Brasa, or Peruvian rotisserie chicken. In addition to the rotisserie chicken($ 9.75 /16 /24 for ¼, ½, whole + 2 sides and 2 sauces), the short lunch menu( ) also has chicken and lomo(beef) sandwiches for $ 9.75, Lomo Saltado for $ 22(listed as $ 16 on the online lunch menu), and Jalea a fried seafood dish, along with 2 apps and 2 salads. I got the ¼ chicken with plantains and Peruvian canario beans( ). They asked if I wanted spicy or mild sauces and I said mild and got Huancaina(yellow pepper & cheese) and a honey-mustard type that I can’t remember the name of( ). The chicken( ) was moist and aggressively seasoned with a few pretty salty bites. The skin was fully rendered, but not crispy. I liked the carmelization on the plantains. The beans were OK, but not memorable. They have wine &3 beers in kegerators(Drake’s 1500, Line 51IPA, Linden Lager) in addition to Inka Kola and Chicha Morada 3.5 stars. Rounding up for the friendly service

Super overpriced for what you get. And comparing to their original menu… they raised the price for the lomo saltado by $ 6 and downsized the portions. WTF! Just because it’s on Piedmont, they are taking advantage and gouging our wallets! The actual beef was tender and decent, but they barely gave any rice… and the portions were tiny for $ 22. The lamb stew was decent, but nothing out of this world. WIsh I had a bettere experience… won’t come back.

Really enjoyed the food here! The lomo saltado is incredible, with super tender meat and great flavor. The rotisserie chicken is perfectly spiced and not over cooked. The service is also great. We ended up waiting a while to get menus and our check. But our server was very apologetic and brought us dessert to make up for it. Highly recommended!

Great small, family-owned and operated restaurant serving incredibly flavorful food. Nine indoor tables; bare bulb installation provides a minimalist but tasteful ambience. Plain wooden chairs and tables; mirrors on one wall. Two or three entrees are offered — the Lomo Saltado(steak) and the rotisserie chicken(marinated in dark beer and spices) appear to be the constants. They were both fantastic. All of the sides, including the Yucca fries and mixed veggies were equally wonderful, as are the three optional dipping sauces. Beer and wine, only. Didn’t try the«Inca Kola» but we did try a special peruvian beverage, listed as high in antioxidants, which tasted wonderful(much to my surprise; I’m not what anyone could call a health food junkie). Two desserts were offered; we crossed spoons fighting to the death for the last bite of the coconut flan-type dessert — sweet and creamy. Authentic? I don’t have a clue. Wonderful exotic(and relatively inexpensive) dinner? Yes — highly recommended! A great find — thanks fellow Unilocalers!

Great new addition to Piedmont Ave!!! I was biking by after going to the gym and was drawn into this place by the music and warm, inviting energy. Quaint, family owned restaurant with a small and simple menu, which I really liked. Very reasonably priced too! I had the rotisserie chicken with Yucca fries and Plantains. The chicken was solid, skin was very flavorful. Plantains were amazing. Yucca fries came out nice and hot, and crispy on the outside. yum. All three sauses were delicious! The lovely server, Irena, was very warm, sweet, friendly and attentive. She checked in with me often and took very good care of me. The ambiance of this place is very warm, with a lot of wooden furniture and plenty of soft light hanging from the ceiling. Unisex bathroom, which I always love to see. Overall very cozy and inviting. I also had the coconut flan for dessert. OHMY. So bomb!!! This is a lovely place, and I will definitely come back for more :) With a generous glass of wine, quarter chicken breast with Yucca fries and Plantains, plus dessert, my bill was still under $ 30 including tax. WIN. Thanks for an awesome dinner!

Time: 5:57pm/64°F clear Purpose: Place was on radar ever since they file for business license. Kept close tab on it for a while. Now is showtime. Ambiance: Small Peruvian neighborhood restaurant that sits thirty total. All wooden tables/chairs with three close-together tables forming a communal sits six. Rest of place just regular tables that sits four with two window table seater. Hanging string lights with walls painted soft greenish/tanish adds a simple welcoming warm glow. Dining area host two mini fridge for bottle wines and two spouts for wine and beer on tap. Hallway to back is the utensil/condiment counter as well as beverages/tea. Kitchen area can be seen from certain dining areas. Calm vibe not noisy at when there are 3 – 4 seated tables. Noise picks up beyond 5 tables. Still can hear, but needs to speak louder than usual. Staff: One lady with heavy Polish accent. She wasn’t too sure how things runs. Kept going back to kitchen asking questions. General questions she’ll know. Anything more like how its prepare or what comes with order. Not much of a clue to help. I’ll let it slide as place is new still doing the unwrapping. Cleanliness: Grade A, impeccable no a word. Again, its a new place. Give it some time then we might know something. Too early to tell, but judging on how its set up. Should be like that for some time to come. Eats/Drinks: Quarter chicken with two sides $ 9 and coconut crema volteada $ 6. Featuring and serving Mary’s free-range chicken being serve. You can get it whole, half or quarter. Chicken was flavorful with attached skin, but soggy. I like chicken with a slight crispyy skin attached. However, it was overcooked a little. Since that happen the inside has lost some juiciness resulting in sporadic areas with dry parts. Side veggies were great as expected nice and crisp, but after finishing saw a nice pool of water to oil ratio bottom of plate. Prefer more drier veggies. Yucca fries were good, but was luke warm with center and exterior mushy tasting. A telltale sign of undercooked and kept warm prior to ordering. Coconut crema fair better. Took it to go instead as, I was full already. Great dessert with all things consider hard to mess up. Shredded coconut lines bottom with smooth velvety cream/milk goodness. Must be eaten cold to enjoy with beverage of your choice. Main Features: Mary’s free-range rotisserie chicken. Products/Services: Limited menu half a paper. Please see picture for description and prices along with beer/wine selections? $ 15/corkage, lunch 11:00am-2:30pm/dinner 5−9pm. Unisex restroom. Takes plastic(no Amex). Punch Lines: Warm service, hip and happening, eclectic eatery, close-together table, modest cost, pleasing flavors, drool-worthy, easy night out, business lunch, can’t go wrong, casual setting, take out of town guests, kept its standards, no slum dogs, satisfactory, engaging, business/residential area, street parking, Kaiser Pernamente. Tradeoffs: Only two kinds of meat offer here chicken and top sirloin. Some may not want either, so they’re out of luck. Final Thoughts: Peruvian eateries are not like Chinese, Japanese, Italian or Mexican. To find one really close as home style is rare. The good news is once you do find one, it may take time to get up to standards. I understand that it’s a new place. I speak for myself on the experience. You may or may not eventually find something that suits you. Not a bad place at all food is definitely up there. Just wanted to see a more extensive offering than whats being offer at the time. I just can’t do with chicken and beef only. Going out with 3.5/stars for service, attentive, ambiance.

This is an early review. They’ve only been open 3 days and there are a few snags. Friendly hostess/server in a space that lacks character, which I’m sure is coming. My fave place in Boston is Chimi’s Dominican rotisserie chicken. Juicy with an amazing crisp skin to fight over and yummy pigeon rice– yummy. So when I stumbled across this place I was psyched! Definitely stop by for their half chicken. Very flavorful and juicy. The skin was nicely brown but limp from being more-cooked. Once they fix this I’m hooked. The roasted veggies –skip. Too thinly sliced and nothing special, soggy Spinach salad looked and tasted like bag. How about a Peruvian salad? This place adds needed diversity to the food scene. Support them!
