Broach Barbering

What a great, personal experience! Wes has an attention for detail like no other barber. In fact, not sure if I would even call the others «barbers» now that I’ve met Wes. Barbering is his passion and it shows in his work.

Broach Barbering is definitely a unique experience. It is a single chair operation located in one of the beautiful old buildings lining Lake Merritt. Wes was very accommodating to my same day appointment request. As far as the cut, Wes nailed it! Wes used a combination of clippers and a straight razor to give me what I requested. Hot shaving cream and a hot towel after getting lined up is a plus. Wes is an amazing barber. Go check him out!

Wes at Broach Barbering is very professional, friendly and good with children, as well as affordable.
He is one of the few barbers in the area that services children and he did a good job on my son’s first major haircut.

Is this a day spa? I swear, it could be, because I came out ten times more relaxed and good looking than when I went in.
Unlike the previous reviewer, I had frequented a number of old-​school barbers as a kid and adult, and I have to say, Wes at Broach Barbering has created the best barber experience I’ve ever had.
The environment is very chill and laid back, with ambient music or TV depending on the mood, and Wes is a great person to talk to. He’s got a very laid back and engaging manner, but if you want kick back and not talk, he’s cool with that too.
And it looks awesome, for only $ 20 (tip nicely!). A great experience, and highly recommended.

When I was in college I would usually just go to Supercuts and have them keep it somewhat short and I always thought I looked pretty decent. Once I moved out to my new neighborhood in Oakland after school I decided to find a real barber and after six months of no luck, my bud Wes found me thankfully.
I’ve never had a real haircut before and now will never make that mistake again. Wes takes his time and pays so much attention to detail you’d think he’s painting the Mona Lisa on your head – it’s awesome and so worth it. Go for a shave too because he will handle your business like a boss.
All in all, go to Wes to look fly and make a new friend. Fair prices to boot so leave a fat tip if you’re able ;)
