This is my go to breakfast spot. I’ve had dinner there before and it’s good and a great value. But there breakfast and cappuccinos are second to none. Great group of staff running this place and is inviting and comfortable. The seating can get crowded, but what do you expect when their place is so popular.

This is an OK café to visit. I think the service here might be a reflection of the name, unfortunately. I had a Rice Krispie bar that was half covered in chocolate and the rest of my party had an espresso with a lemon bar. All the food tasted like one would expect, but was nothing spectacular. There was not a lot of cleaning up by the staff. Although it does appear that the customers bus their own dishes, there was a table next to my party that was not cleared at all from the time we were seated until the time we left. The floors were unswept as well. I’m glad that this place serves free water, but when there are unknown particles floating in your water, it’s a little bit unsettling and disgusting.

I like to come here but seriously, twice now I’ve ordered eggs and for a place that serves them, they have no idea what over medium means. Zero. They either come out with runny egg whites on top(you could tell the eggs were never flipped to cook the whites on the opposite side) or they destroy the yolks(when returned it looked like they scored the yolks to cook them completely hard). At this point we just gave up. It is mind boggling to me. I’ll never order eggs here again. And the guy looked at me like I was crazy when I told him make sure«the whites are cooked and the yolks runny». He just kept nodding like he knew what I was saying(English was his second language) but the eggs never came out as requested. Very disappointing $ 10 breakfast. It looks like they are racking up negative and below average ratings. I hope the owner takes special notice of this.

I had a nice couple hours here. They had a lot of sweet and savory pastry choices as well as real food like salads, pasta, pizza and pananis. I had a spinach, mushroom and feta croissant and iced tea. My friend had one of their many coffee drinks. I scored parking right in front and there is a parking lot in back. Live music was starting just and we were wrapping up. That made it hard to talk but the music was nice. If I didn’t need to get home I would have stayed and listened. Looking forward to returning.

3.5 — One of the few breakfast spots in Oakland that serves a sit down breakfast at 8am on a Saturday morning. There was a good mix of demographics there — from the kids to the seniors… you could tell this is a place where there are«regulars», which is usually a good sign. Place your order at the counter and they will bring your order to the table. There are seats outside in the back for those who appreciate the great Oakland weather. I had the Italian omelette with spinach, mushrooms & Swiss cheese. Also came with toast and breakfast potatoes. The omelette was good but could have been better with more spinach and mushrooms — was quickly fixed with hot sauce and ketchup. Home fries were great — cooked and seasoned perfectly with a crispy skin but soft inside. The highlight of the meal was the latte — I am picky about coffee. It peeves me to no end when lattes taste like steamed milk and no coffee… this was not the case. It was hot enough with the perfect balance of espresso and the froth was not full of air — very creamy. This place has an extensive panini menu — I will come back to try these and will also be back for the latte.

Caffe Trieste. I kinda really like this place. Great vibe, great food, a beer and wine selection, and a parking lot off of busy Piedmont Ave. I’ll admit, I’ve only been here twice in my life, but when presented with the painful dilemma of WHERETOEAT??? my friend and I quickly glanced at each other and telepathically chose Café Trieste because of our previous experience. We were in the area and it’s a perfect spot on a casual, warm, bright, and lazy Sunday. I’ve had the Chicken Panini, part of my friend’s Turkey Panini(both around $ 9), and on a separate occasion one of my weaknesses, the breakfast bagel sandwich($ 5.50). Overall, this place has a nice variety of food and beverage options that should please anyone: plenty of breakfast items(eggs, bagels, pastries, muffins), salads, quiche, soup, paninis, pizza, lasagna, pasta, beer, and wine. You can really come here for any meal of the day. BONUS: there’s a solid happy hour where you couple a meal item(panini, pizza, pasta) with a beer/wine for a discounted rate. I’ll be back. Multiple times.

I was a fan of Caffe Trieste until two days ago, when I came down with a nasty bout of food poisoning after eating their chicken apple sausages. The café is a lovely spot to eat, although it ought not be recommended for its meat dishes. I came down with Salmonellosis 12 hours after eating their breakfast platter(with no other food intake during that time span). Now I am stuck at home feeling miserable while a sub is directing my summer camp. I just hope nobody else will encounter the same problem. Please remember to use a meat thermometer next time, guys!

Great outdoor seating space in the back but that’s about it. Drink(latte) was mediocre, service was adequate but not pleasant, and they gave me the wrong change. I might stop by again on a sunny day but I would just get a beer, which is good anywhere really, and sit out back.

I really dug this place, but I think when you go is a huge factor in how much you’ll dig it. I was in the mood for a good-sized, savory breakfast on this particular Sunday. Luckily, on top of the good variety of sweets + pastries here, they offer eggs and lots of a-la-carte items like sausage patties, bacon and so forth. I opted for two eggs, bacon and chorizo patties. I washed it all down with a large Americano. The food and coffee here is on point and decently priced. The reason I say the day + time you come here plays into your experience is that, on the specific Sunday I went, the place was a madhouse. Subsequently, it seemed they were short-staffed that day. So, service was a bit slow. Understandable but if you’re in a rush, heads-up. Also, because it’s right on Piedmont St., you’ll have the occasional homeless person come in and ask for change or leftovers, should you have any. I’ve got no problem w/this, personally. However, the staff are either used to this or were too busy to notice. So, again, an FYI. I definitely want to come back to Caffe Trieste. That said, I’m going to try it on a weeknight and see what the experience is like then.

I would drive hours for a place like this! The food is amazing, the service is amazing, the tea/coffee/drinks are amazing, the open hangout spaces(both indoor and outdoor) could not be more perfect for a sit down lunch! And the best part? Astoundingly, everything is(forgive the term) dirt cheap. mind-blowingly so for what you get. Come for brunch, bring a book, stay for lunch, and call it a day! I absolutely love every inch of this place, and wouldn’t go anywhere else for the lunch if I had choice!

Came to this location for the first time while passing through town and wish I didn’t! The african american girl at the register was very rude. I asked her a few basic questions about the soup of the day(ect.) She had a bad attitude from the get go. Kept throwing me dirty looks the whole time. I ended up ordering a breakfast sandwhich(which ended up being pretty good) Once I got to my table I realized I forgot to bring my number with me, so I got up and see her walk over to me telling me «You forgot this» shoving it in my hand. I felt so unwelcome the entire time. Someone needs to help her with how to treat customers. Will not be returning because of this reason.
