I like my food VERYSPICY, the first time I came here I said as much and the food they brought back was basically inedible. Lesson learned! The second time I came to Cambra I ordered the drunken noodles and asked to make it mildly spicy, they were DELICIOUS and also much spicier than what most restaurants serve. No complaints here! We had the curry wings for an appetizer which was also delicious, and I had some sort of jalapeño cocktail which was phenomenal. The only complaint I have was the order they brought our food out was bizarre… first they brought my plate, then the plate of our friend, THEN the appetizer… and then my husband’s plate took another ten minutes. We waited for his food to come out before we ate ours and finally the waitress came over and said we might want to start because it would be a while longer before his plate was ready. It was awkward and annoying. But the food was awesome and so were the drinks and the location is great(we eat here when we’re going to the Fox Theater). We’ll definitely be back, hopefully the pacing is a little better next time. We would have liked to enjoy the appetizer while having our drinks.

Walked in yesterday for lunch with my boyfriend and I stood there waiting to be seated and acknowledged. One of the waitress came by looked at me and proceeded to clean a table and did not greet me. So I looked at her and asked if I can just sit any where. She replied with I guess and left. There was even a male waiter who walked by and checked on all his Caucasian customers but still did not acknowledge me. After minutes of standing and sitting and waiting to be acknowledged, I left after the waiter and waitress passed by me multiple times with out giving me service.

I don’t write Unilocal reviews often. When I do, the company/service has either been terrific… or absolutely horrible. Fortunately, Camber was terrific! My wife and I had an hour to spend before the gates opened for a concert at the nearby Fox Theater. We selected the Camber because their Happy Hour looked great. And it was! High-end draft pints for $ 4. Interesting, delicious, snack-sized Happy Hour food items for $ 5 or $ 6 each. Better yet, meticulously crafted specialty drinks(like a fantastic Sazerac) at super reasonable prices. Our bartender, Erico, did a phenomenal job multitasking with his bar customers while being careful not to drop-the-ball with helping the waitstaff with their orders. He obviously cared about this creations and was both friendly and attentive. Probably the best all-around bartender we’ve ever met! Our staggered food selections came out quickly each time. The Irish coffee was French press w/Jamesons. To top off the wonderful visit… we left with 3 cocktails each + four food selections… and our bill was $ 67!!! We couldn’t have picked a better place to visit! We hope you check out the Camber and enjoy yourselves too!

Crab Rangoon was very good. Pad se ew was ok not great. Medium spicy is mild. Chicken Tikka stir fry was too mild and kind of strange, think I’ll stick to the Indian version.

Great vibe, great food, great drinks. The service was awesome and it was close to the concert we we’re going to. I had the garlic chicken and paratha(like roti) which was delectable!

First of all, service was excellent. We came here nearly 45 minutes before closing on a friday night. Our server was friendly and enthusiastic even though I’m sure she had a long-ass day. There were a few other diners, but surely as the night went on, we were the last ones there. We felt no pressure from anyone to finish our meal and leave. We had a nice relaxing meal to wind down from the week, despite the loud club music playing. It’s kind of a fun atmosphere, like hip restaurant meets club, and we enjoyed it. We started with some great cocktails. Don’t remember the names, but they were both well balanced and not overly sweet. For dinner, they ran out of the beef, so I ordered chicken larb, and the bf got the ka soy(noodle soup). The larb was tasty and not too dry as I had feared with the chicken, and the bf loved the ka soy. It was exactly what he was craving. Our server even bring out a small bowl and set of utensils for me to have some of his soup(without me even asking). I really appreciated her hospitality! We will be back.

Was here for NYE. The place was busy, of course, just like everywhere else on the biggest party holiday of the year. Service was awesome, the waitstaff were friendly, fast, and attentive. The food is SOSOSO good. I had chicken curry and my date had some fish thing, both with brown rice. Both were pretty good. We also split a lettuce wrap appetizer that contained cured pork, cilantro, basil… it was heaven. I also had the red sangria, which was very good. Flavors were great, service was wonderful. Will definitely be back.

The ambiance is great but food is ok. I came here for dinner with some friends, there is a bar area in the back and tables closer to the entrance. it was not too loud and was great for conversations. We had the eggroll for appetizer, which was good. It was crispy and the sweet and sour dipping sauce was standard. The minced meat inside the eggroll was nicely seasoned, it wasn’t too salty, but the meat itself is grinned too finely so there is a lack of texture and I couldn’t really taste what kind of meat it is. For my main dish, I ordered ginger chicken with white rice. In the description, it said it had garlic and ginger, but I tasted neither. It was salty and saucy, and tasted like Kung pow chicken. I ended up finishing all the rice, but still unable to finish the chicken. The price is also more expensive for dinner, so rounding to $ 14. I could get much better food for this price at other places. Right across from 19th street BART exit, it is relatively safe at night in Oakland. Maybe I will come back to check out their happy hour items, but I could pass on dinner.

This place is HOTHOTHOT!!! A friend suggested I check this place out a few weeks back and when I randomly found myself in the neighborhood I went to check them out… They were CLOSED! BOOOO!!! Their hurt are a bit all over the place so check before you just show up. The food was REALLY good though. I am only a moderate fan of HOT… See things were a bit too hot for me but my fiancé loves spicy food and LOVED everything! So there you have it. Oh, and don’t overlook the Oakland murals on the walls in the front dining area, they are beautiful!

On a Monday night, the place was very quiet. Drink: White Tiger — deceivingly very good. Tasted like it was just a Thai Ice Tea but it had Ketel One Vodka Orange in it Appetizer: Crab Ragoon — always tasty & good. Garlic Wings — a bit on the salty side & over fried Entrée: Drunken Chicken — was not pleased with this entrée. Too saucy without taste. I’ve had this dish at other Thai eateries and it taste better elsewhere. Ambiance: We sat at a high top table in bar & the bartender was our server & he was efficient. But I watched 3 different servers step over a purse of a dining patron that had fallen on the floor behind her chair. The servers each stepped over the purse & scarf on floor instead of picking it up and informing patron. I picked it up & handed it to the patron, didn’t want to see another employee step over it. Overall: I would come back if my friends insisted on meeting there.

The good: happy hour specials. The slow: the service The ok: the food. I thought my garlic shrimp were pretty good. My mom’s fried rice was pretty ordinary, and my wife’s noodle soup wasn’t that tasty. The samosas and crab rangoon app were pretty average. Would I come here again? Just for HH. For dinner? No, not worth it, especially in a city where there are tons of cheaper Asian food options with better food.

A Thai-themed restaurant and bar that draws a fun, diverse crowd. The Thai-themed food that they serve is fairly average(if anything, a bit greasy in my opinion), and the bar offerings are pretty standard, but it’s nevertheless a dependable place if you want to hang out with friends or watch sports over a few drinks, all with food that’s definitely not your typical bar food. Indeed, if you’re in the area and you’re doing a crawl through a number of bars and establishments, this isn’t a bad place to stop if you want some food with your revelry.

Definitely a fan of their 1) Happy Hour. Drinks are at great prices, great appetiziers and big TV’s for you to view. I came here on two different times, one with my friend for drinks and light bites and a second time with my date, we had the drunken noodles and the stir-fry eggplant. Both dishes were extremely tasty. Vegetarian options are great. Drunken noodles were a a definite hit, the eggplant dish was a little spicy, be careful. It was a little busy on a Wednesday night. I guess everyone has joined the Wednesday night drinking club.

7 of us arrived for a 7:30 pm Friday night reservation. One person in the group is Laotian so we got the stamp of approval for as much authenticity a fusion establishment could offer. We ate family style with one vegan diner so we ordered half veggie/tofu dishes instead of all meat. We ordered: Veggie Samosas Lao Style Papaya Salad Lao Sausage Garlic Basil Eggplant Ka-Soy Chicken Larb Salad & Drunken Noodles Mango Mojito and the Lychee Martini’s were a hit! Everything was so tasty and I will definitely be returning for more bursting with flavor bites!

Camber is a great place to come to for happy hour before a show at the Fox, but it shouldn’t necessarily be your first choice if you want really great Thai food. My pad see eew was unevenly sauced and the noodles weren’t cooked all the way through — they were slightly cold in places and stuck together. But the service is really good, and it might be worth to try something that isn’t so traditionally Thai.

Did you want a decent Thai restaurant? Check Did you want a bar with a live dj? Check Did you want both at the same time? Usually not the best combination. Usually. The ambiance is a little strange. It feels like a restaurant when you walk in but the bar is recessed in the back instead of the front like it usually is with restaurants. It’s almost like the front of the restaurant is where you take a date to a nice dinner and the back is where you… Find someone to take on a date. There are those times when you want a normal dinner but still want to bump to some tunes, this is the place! For all others who just want good food, good music or good drinks without the others, there are better venues. The drinks here are decent with some seasonal specials that looked interesting. The Thai food is average, but it’s really the live dj that made the place for me. My friends and I got the Chicken Tika, Drunken Noodle, and Ka Soy. All of the dishes were okay. Not terrible, but nothing to write home about. If you had to get one of them, the Chicken Tika rises above the rest. Overall the service, okay food, decent drinks, give it an average rating. But the live dj will take it up the extra notch!

As far as Thai food goes, Camber Uptown isn’t anything special. The place has a nice vibe and its winning quality is actually the bar! The bar makes great drinks and I would definitely recommend the Mango Mojito. It is to die for! If you’re watching a Fox concert just up the street, you get happy hour specials all night. Pad Thai was way too sweet and not tangy enough. The best dish of the night was the rice ball salad. It had really good flavors integrated into the dish. Limey and not too spicy. What we didn’t like is that we had to pay separate bills with the bar and the restaurant. Apparently, they’re too separate businesses?

The garlic green beans(a side) were excellent. Otherwise, I wasn’t wowed by anything food-wise. Most dishes are small and very spicy, a bit dumbed down from what you’d get at many Thai places. It is definitely more bar than restaurant. The drinks were so-so. One of our orders was completely wrong(flat-out brought the wrong drink) and the mango mojito was just overkill with the mint. I wasn’t terribly impressed, but I’m sure some people would have better experiences.

First night of a friends visit and I wanted to check out a great spot in Oakland. After searching through Unilocal,I found this place loud and clear. The overall review was great and there was a lot of reviews backing this place up. The best part: it was all about Asian fusion! Totally up my alley so this was definitely happening. When you walk into this joint you can tell it’s a new trendy spot. Exposed brick walls, low lit lighting and big screen tvs around the joint. There were a lot of tables for seating and the folks currently in there seemed to be liking their experience. The service was good. Our server was nice, not to involved with our experience. He would check in and out but would be more focused on other tasks. Good thing was there were other servers to help jump in at any time. For dinner here’s what I had: –Drink: Hennessy Side Car for $ 11. Hennessy VS, triple sec, simple syrup, lemon juice, sugar rim and a lemon twist. The drink was excellent. Light cognac flavor and a refreshing citrus flavor. –Shrimp in a black for $ 8. Shrimp wrapped in eggroll skin and fried, served with a sweet chili sauce. This was the ordinary app. Nothing special, the sweet chili did most of the work. Still a good choice. –Camber egg rolls for $ 8. Egg rolls stuffed with chicken, mushrooms, carrots, vermicelli, deep fried and served with sweet chili sauce. I liked the plethora of stuffing. They cut the egg rolls in half and like the previous dish, the sweet chili sauce enhanced the dish a lot. –Dinner version of the Pad Si Ew for $ 10, added chicken in for an extra $ 2. stir fried wide rice noodles with egg, tofu, broccoli and carrots. Sliced cucumbers and orange garnished the dish. Lots of flavor all around. The noodles were a bit gummy but everything seemed to mesh super well and packed with deliciousness. Great dish! At the end of the day, I’m so glad this was the first impression for my friends trip. The food was good, the drinks were great and the vibe was super chill. I’m definitely using this spot again for another dinner. If you’re in the area, definitely check them out!
