The appetizers were good but the customer service is lacking and not at all welcoming to families

This place is BOARDEDUP and CLOSED. My friends and I wanted to go there, as I’m sure you and your friends wanted to too, but you just can’t. It’s gone. The Unilocal app may still say it’s open; it’s not.

A few friends and I were super hungry at around 11pm on a Sunday night, not much was open, but we saw this place and decided to try it out. Though this place is located a little shady-looking area, the inside is pretty nice. Had like bamboo wall décor, and soft lighting. The place wasnt too crowed, I mean after all it was a Sunday night, just a few small groups of college kids including us. The guy who was waiting the tables only came around when you waved for him, but it was fine since the place is pretty small. We ordered: Marinated beef and salad BBQ spicy pork Kimchi pancake Chicken Wings with spicy house sauce Peach Soju Cass(another review said they ordered OB beer, but they actually only serve Cass) It was strange because we originally ordered bulgogi, but he came back and said it wasnt available? Strange, we just settled for the marinated beef and salad. The small side dishes were okay, pretty standard, and were missing some of my favorites like the potato salad and fish cake, but i forgive them =P All the food though was pretty good. The BBQ spicy pork was just as expected from any other korean restaurant, but the chicken wings had a good amount of sauciness and the sauce was really good. The marinated beef was good too and the salad made it a pretty refreshing dish. The kimchi pancake was yummy, had a little more kimchi than i usually like but it was good. All the meat dishes were well cooked, couldn’t complain about them. And of course, the peach soju was yummy, it was like drinking peach rings. All of this came to about $ 27 each for 3 people including tax and tip, which was kind of expected for what we ordered, even a little cheaper than usual, so not bad. The prices were pretty standard, for the food. Overall, i’d come back here for a late night bite with friends to chill. It’s not too loud in there, they were playing some popular korean music in the background at a medium volume and had sports playing on a big screen tv, nothing too loud =P

I came here last weekend to celebrate my friends birthday, and the owner gave us the back room. He was really kind and service was pretty quick considering that we were there from around 11:30pm-1:30am. This is an enjoyable restaurant/bar to hang out at with friends! The food is delicious. My gal pals and I especially enjoyed the chicken wings and cheese corn dish. Also, If you like the Asian yogurt drink, Yakult, I would recommend the yogurt soju. So tasty!

Came here for my friends birthday… I only had the soju since I gave up eating out for lent, but it was delicious. They only had peach and yogurt for flavors so we got a couple of each. The yogurt was the best though. My friends who were able to eat loved the chicken wings, sweet potato fries, and beef salad. I sat there about to pass out from hunger watching their smiling faces happily drinking and eating. Definitely coming back when lent is over.

I liked this place despite the fact that no one was here from ~ 6−8pm on a random Tuesday. I know most people don’t frequent korean bars for dinner but since my friend and I love bar food so much we don’t care. We ordered combo #1 which includes a spicy pork and potato stew, veggie pancake, and soju or huge bottle of OB for $ 35. I really liked the food. The space is more open than your typical korean bars in the area but I would come back again.

Not quite sure how to feel about this place, so I’ll divide into pros and cons. PROS — Cheapest alcohol among the Korean bars in Oakland(for now) — Promotions — Great service(seriously, the owner and workers are all incredibly nice) — Cleanest bar(because it’s new) — Great if you have a big crowd, since the space is very open and not divided into cubicles like Kang Tong or Dansungsa — Only place that offers pig skin — When you order beer they give you chilled glasses. Beer tastes 10x better! CONS — Food is subpar to other Korean bars — Chum Churum instead of Cham Isul for soju(maybe i’m being finicky but Chum Churum just tastes too diluted) TIPS — Ask for the odeng(fish cake) soup for free! — I personally like the fries combo(I know, coming to a Korean bar and ordering fries is kind of pathetic, but they’re good) For the time being, I like this place since it’s newer, therefore lacking the loud drunks found at Kang Tong/Dansungsa. I don’t know though, I just can’t get behind their food.

Came here for drinks and munchies with girl friends and had a fun time! We decided to come here because 1) It’s new(just opened 3 months ago) 2) Cheaper than other Korean bars 3) My friends had amazing service the last time they came ATMOSPHERE A lot cleaner than other K-Bars and had cute white lights everywhere. It’s a little small, but didn’t feel cramped. Service was good! We apparently had the same server as last time, and he definitely took care of us. He gave us some food and drinks on the house! He was also very friendly and we invited him to drink with us since we were 1 of 2 tables there that night. FOOD 1) Fish cake soup 2) Spicy pig feet The soup was delish and although I’m not a fan of pig feet, my friends are and they loved it. It came with a dish of dipping sauces, garlic, and chili. DRINKS Soju & O.B. beer– of course. Very good. Went down like water… but creeped up on us the same way soju does every time, haha. The food and drinks are decently priced and go well together. I definitely want to come back and try more food items. I enjoy the fact that they have a deep fryer sitting right next to the register. It makes me drool just thinking about what fried food I can order the next time I come here to drink! Will definitely be back!

I would give five star but. i already witnessed two fights outside of the bar… and its not cool… Food is wonderful price for soju is great if you need a cheap and chill place to go out with your friends. I highly recommend this place… things to make sure is the street parking if you tend to stay at DAEPOJIP after midnight, and the servers are not very well in English so speak slowly

So, I just moved nearby and this is my neighborhood late night spot, apparently. Went there for a quick bite and we got the seafood ramen, the beef with veggies and the soju. The beef with veggies was good — pretty classic dish, hard to mess up. The seafood ramen was okay — if you life something warm and soupy, go for this. The Korean appetizers were an assortment of pickled vegetables with interesting textures. Not my favorite, but for someone else’s palette, perhaps this is a welcomed treat. There were a few other customers in the place who seemed to be enjoying themselves as well. Music was playing and service was somewhat attentive, considering it was nearly 1:30am. My tummy was full and I went to bed happy, so I guess it was a successful dining experience.

We went for the gamjatang but ended up getting fried chicken wings with the house sauce, kimchi tofu, pork bulgogi and the vegetable pajun. It sounded like too much food for 4 people but we finished almost everything, especially the wings. It was very quiet when we were there. I hope business picks up because I thought everything was well prepared and I still want to try the gamjatang.

back to basics korean watering hole… soju and beers served with some unique choices… a casual place to drink and socialize… a bar at front for solo visitors… dae po jib translation canon house… shooting out unique and korean street food items… for the nonadventurous, grilled meats, a plate of fried chicken wings or plate of dukbokee, spicy rice cakes… for the traditionalist, hearty spicy pork neckbone and potato stew, pork skin, or a platter of sliced meaty ham hocks… for the daring, spicy chicken feet or live octopus… an eclectic menu that is diverse and bold… portions large and pricing norm… go with an open mind and prepared to drink… set expectations low and ready for casual korean comfort food…

So, we got the chicken wings in the house sauce and that was an awesome jawsome. Also, I think I saw spicy pig feet or intestines on the menu. Will have to try that next time. That’s always fun. This would be a great place for a large(adult) party with people who love drinking and eating spicy fried foods. I wish I got drunker… drank more?

Dae Po Jib is more of a bar with korean bar food than a restaurant. We were looking for more filled out korean menu. Not too mention three of the things we wanted to order were not available. That said we had some really good sweet potato fries and wings. Staff were friendly and the beer cold. Not really a family place– its clean and friendly but they have loud music playing etc… I imagine that this place would be great on a pub crawl or late night beer and food drop in. Lastly the two money symbol rating is off I think its more in the three range. I mean 15 dollar wings???

Came here after being out of town for a week and I was craving korean food. We stumbled upon this place since we’ve tried a lot of the other korean spots in the neighborhood. At first glance it didn’t look like much, the place was practically empty but we saw the Unilocal sitcker on the door and took a chance. The server was friendly and we asked for his recommendation. He recommended the combination tofu/kimchi/spam/ramen/veggie soup for two. We weren’t really sure what it was but it sounded good and it turned out to be one of those casserole type soups that is served on a burner. It was tasty and just what we were in the mood for. The bowl of soup was HUGE and the two of us couldn’t finish all of it but we liked every bite of it. Another big plus for us was flavored soju! So far, none of the korean places we’ve tried in the area had flavored soju so when the server said he had peach soju available we ordered a pitcher without hesitation. The pitcher was a pretty good size(about $ 11) and the soju tasted great. We’ll definitely be back to get our hot soup and soju fix on.

Homey feeling korean bar. They had special 4.99 soju week(or month, don’t remember 100%) and the owner and the server was super nice. At one point, they advised us to move our car on the street to the other side or they will get tickets. Hell yeah. Bar who looks after the customers. Awesome. Food wise, two things caught my eyes. 1) Pig Skin –something I couldn’t find in south bay. they are good. nom nom. 2) Special burrito-I think it was off the menu but owner made it for us with secret sauce. mmm. drool. I don’t go up to oakland that often anymore but now I know where to go for sure.

The pictures does not do the place justice… with the help of my fobby friends, we celebrated my birthday last weekend. Boys and girls, I’ve found my new Korean spot. We had grilled beef & salad, gam ja tang, fried chicken, jjok bal, and way too many bottles of soju. I had silly hopes that I’d be taking the left over home, but everything laid on the table was inhaled…2nd round of everything, please! Can’t wait to go back to try the other side of the menu =D
