This place has good Korean bar food. The place has cute private booths and is a chill place to drink. We ordered a yogurt soju that is tasty. We had dried fish strip with peanuts to snack on. We got a seafood crispy rice dish that waz comforting. Spicy rice cake on ramen and chicken gizzards on a bed lf salad. For being bar food everything was delicious. We stayed there for a while and they did not rush is out or anything. Again a chill place where you can take your sweer time. Warning that the neighborhood where the bar is in is sketch.

This is a place that serve«Korean Bar Food» that’s pretty close to where I live, so we’ve been here a few times. The place is pretty big and can sit large party, so if you’re with a group of friends and don’t want to wait forever to get a table, this is a pretty good spot. Whenever I’m here, I’ll always order their corn cheese, the spicy rice cake with ramen noodle, and kimchi pancakes. Those are my favorites! Some of their food’s quality isn’t as good as Dan Sung Sa, but they’re also cheaper on average. And when I say quality isn’t as good, it’s actually not super different but with a couple of dishes, such as galbi, they’re a bit more overcooked. Overall, a great spot, and we’ll be continuing our visit in the future!:)

Came in with a bunch of friends for dinner in late December. We had been… celebrating. Saw the«Corn Cheese» on the menu and thought that it was hilarious. Waiter informed us that it was«not really very good» but«perfect for when you’ve been drinking.» He was really downplaying this Corn Cheese stuff, and saying like«I mean if you want to get drunk and try it you can, but…» Before I knew it we had bought four bottles of Soju and a bunch of giant Hites. Waiter started teaching us drinking games to play with Soju and beer. He was a rad guy and I’m not even mad that he played us real slick to make some Soju sales. The food was pretty tasty! Scallion pancakes, cold noodle dish, and bulgogi, if I remember. Which — I don’t really remember super clearly, but it was good though. Except for the corn cheese, which was dumb. Although I can’t say we weren’t warned.

I came to drink mostly had a few bites of food and it was good. I suggest get the flavored soju, then get 2 bottles of regular soju and add it to the pitcher! It lessens the sweetness and makes it deliciously stronger! haha Love the décor and sectioned off tables

— military stew– my go-to here. we normally get this for 2 and it’s pretty filling. it comes with rice but the rice is hard, which i guess is ok when you eat it w/the soup. It has spam, sausage, rice cake, tofu, onions(yumm eat this at the end), ramen(eat this first so it doesn’t get soggy). not really that spicy i would say it’s mild, if even. — duboki(Spicy rice cake) and ramen– MEH i wouldn’t get this again. this is a wayyy better at OB Chicken i don’t have issues with parking, i usually park right next door by the church. this area isn’t the best so don’t leave anything valuable in the car/out in the open. this place gets packed later at night. this is a 3.5 stars rating but one of the better korean spots out here for military stew.

I really love this place. No, they do not have the absolute best Korean food in the world, but they do make really tasty stuff. They have long tables perfect for good-sized groups, and it’s easy to keep the beer flowing and the food coming. Prices are good, staff is friendly, and they give you a ton to eat. Also really close to BART, which is helpful since I’m lazy and it’s hard to get me to leave SF.

came here for a late dinner — there were only a few other tables with customers, at about 10% capacity. sample of service: –Can we get two boxes? *brings over check* –Can we get two boxes? *takes check* –Can we get two boxes? *nods, yes yes* -*dude stands there mostly idle for 15 minutes?* –Made me get off our table and hunt a staff down for our two to-go boxes so we can finally leave. -*brings over two gigantic to-go boxes(not matching food size) and puts it on the table, without much of a sorry* To sum it up, dont think they care. side note, only got two side dishes — korean restaurants usually provide at least 6 and up to 12. Can’t dock points for this since these are usually complimentary but for these high prices(that are even higher than normal korean cuisine), you would assume more of everything(food, quality, service, environment, etc). bottomline: There are plenty of very good Korean places in and around Oakland for lower prices.

No I don’t like the outside of the building bc it looks like an abandon building. No I don’t like their atmosphere. No I don’t like their décor. No I don’t like the fact that you get your own little booth to sit in. No I don’t like your friendly waiters. No I don’t like your banchans. No I don’t like your tofu kimchee soup or seafood pancakes. No the chef did not take the extra step to stir fry my leftover beef to turn it into a beef stir fry and boxed it up. No I don’t recommend this place. No you should not come here when I’m here next time.

Good late night spot. I really like the way this spot is set up too. I ordered the Galbi, chicken fried rice, and cheesy corn. It wasn’t as expensive as I thought it would be, and my food was pretty good. I would of gave it 4 stars based on the food, but my service sucked. My server sat in a booth with I assume we’re his friends, and didn’t check on us. I had to get up and get his attention for water a couple times, and for my check. If you were gonna dine and dash. You could definitely get away with it here. For a late night spot. I like this place more than the porno place down the street.

Came here for one of my birthdays several years ago, and I guess I forgot to write a review. First off, I love the décor with all of the writing on the wall. Also, the staff was great with being able to accommodate all of my friends. The banchan is good but small(like 4 – 5 dishes compared to like 8 – 9 at other places). The kimchi fried rice is great. You can also grill your own meats here if you like to do that. Gotta have soju while you’re here, too. Stop by here to try it out, but you might wanna just go down the street to Porno Palace(Dan Sung Sa).

This place is Awesome. I’m a regular. It’s a block away from my place. I love Kpop. They also play Jrock if you ask them. Im usually here with friends watching Animé on my laptop. Since they moved back to Japan and the Philippines I just go there once a week or once every 2 weeks. The food is yummy, really tasty. I recommend this place to everyone 5 stars would be 10 if there’s that option.

Looks a legit Korean drinking bar! Took them like 15 minutes to get us water. But it’s all good ‘cuz we got free bottle soju as service: D Not sure how to rate this one because everything tastes good when you’re drunk. Had soju, yogurt soju, beer, kimchi korean pancake and corn fries. The corn fries are literally cheese ontop of a bunch of corn –_– for like 8 bucks GOODTIMEZWEREHAD

This is one of my favorite Korean places. I tend to come early(when they open) because when it hints 11pm, more people start coming and it can get pack! The food is good! My favorite is the spicy chicken wings and rice cake with ramen noodles. Oh… and of course yogurt soju! My husband loves their peanut chicken, sweet corn and kimchi fried rice. Once awhile we will do their BBQ with pork belly… YUMMY! They play loud Korean music(K-pop) and it’s a really chill place to eat, drink, and just hang out. We always have good experience here and the staffs are really friendly! We will continue to come back.

I stopped by here one hungry evening and felt compelled to write a review after having a very satisfying meal. First of all, I’ve been savoring corn and cheese together since I was a young child who loved Taiwanese ham and corn buns at Chinese bakeries. So naturally, it was love at first bite of corn cheese for me at Kang Tong Degi. My friend and I ate the whole thing and I mean, I’m guessing there’s hella mayonnaise in it since we felt pretty stuffed but wow. We can’t thank Kang Tong Degi enough for introducing corn cheese into our lives. The customer service is pretty absent but I feel like that’s the standard protocol for Porno Palace too. So they didn’t swing by our table at all during our meal but to be real, I personally like all of the privacy that you get being left alone to devour corn cheese at the speed of light in one of those cute, little booths. We also got the chicken with peanut sauce and had no complaints with it either. Our food took awhile to come out but that didn’t bother us too much since it was so good. I’m also amused by the eclectic mix of KPOP and the shittier hits of T-Pain, Akon, etc. that they play.

The danger of eating K-BBQ solo is leaving the meat cooking in the hands of the kitchen. Usually it works out OK, but last time at KTD. .. not so good. I got the Jumuluk($ 15.99, «Beef Prime Cut» in the Grilled Meats menu section) which come with rice wraps(Dduk Bossam) and salad. Following the banchan( ) came a surprise. .. a table fried egg cracked onto a small hotplate( ). The meat came out on the salad of lettuce, green onions, mushrooms, carrot slices with a lightly spicy vinaigrette dressing( ). Unfortunately the meat was mostly overcooked, tough, and gristle-y. I didn’t finish it all and didn’t take home any leftovers. The bulgogi, samgyupsal(pork belly), and jokbal(pig’s feet) have turned out better for me in the past.

This place is my best-kept secret because, from the outside, the windows are blacked out, the restaurant sign is in korean, and it looks closed, but they serve excellent korean bar food. I love bringing friends here and surprising them with the good food at this hole-in-the-wall. Recommend to order: — 1 order of BBQ combo: pork belly and beef tenderloin + spicy salad + soju + rice paper wraps. They give out yummy banchans(side dishes): kimchi, cucumber kimchi, vinegar radishes, and small fish. — Yogurt soju for $ 2 more or the strawberry soju. The strawberry soju has strawberry purée in it and is so addicting! — Spicy Korean fried chicken wings is a must-get! It has a curry taste to it that’s so good. I usually get the spicy sauce on the side. — Seafood pancake: grilled perfectly with the crispy edges, the inside moist and chewy and they don’t skimp on the seafood — Kalbi, well marinated and juicy — complimentary refreshing iced barley tea The décor is interesting. It’s small private booths that are hut-like and lined floor-to-ceiling with Korean-Chinese writing wallpaper. There are larger tables in the back. Service can be a little slow, but always friendly. It has a bar-like atmosphere because of its late hours, dim-lighting, and is always playing korean pop music. This is a good place for late-nights and awesome flavored soju. Happy hour from 6 – 10 pm on soju($ 7) and beer(XL $ 7).

Somebody needs to tell me the secret handshake to get the premium service here since I wasn’t feeling much love when I entered. The favorable ratings I found on the Unilocal app led me to this Korean night spot late into the evening, well past 10:30PM, which is late for a workaday drone like me anyway. I had thought it was within the gourmet ghetto that is indeed Temescal, but it’s actually about three blocks south, close to the MacArthur Maze, and believe me, those three blocks matter as it becomes commercially desolate fairly quickly. Festooned with what looks to be black oil barrels, the clandestine entrance is labeled in Korean characters with no English subtitles(photo: ). I just assumed this must be the place. It was… and it was as still as a tomb except for a young man who looked to be whispering to a couple of his buddies in the back. It was almost like a karaōke set-up with semi-private booths that looked suitable for at least a dozen anorexic Asian women, or two of me, take your pick(photo: ). I just parked myself in a booth and started reading the laminated menu. One side looked like it was targeted to parties of ravenous youth after a bender at a nearby bar($ 65 for a five-meat combo platter)(photo: ). The other side reflected more like human-size portions though prices are still a bit high for a solitary diner like me looking for a late night bite(photo: ). After mulling over the $ 21.99 Pork Hocks as I wanted to see if this little piggie went to market, I settled on the more reasonably priced Kimchi & Pork Belly Sauté with Tofu. Before that plate arrived, I received the complimentary Banchan, just five little dishes but I was a party of one after all. Nothing too unusual about the selections except one was a dollop of macaroni salad which I thought felt a little Hawaiian for the menu(photo: ). Then came the main event, which was quite a hefty portion with tofu squares arranged like fallen dominoes around a mound of pork belly slices mixed with slivers of carrots and onions and sauteed with quite a spicy kimchi concoction(photo: ). I liked it enough to eat half of it, but I have to admit the thick goopiness of the kimchi was wearing my tongue out. Luckily I had a bowl of rice which tempered it a bit but frankly not enough. Appearances from my waiter were sporadic after the food arrived and his friends got rowdier. I think he may have been itching to go out, so I took the rest of mine in a doggie bag and entered into the darkness of Oakland near midnight. Frankly there was an edginess to the characters hanging out on the sidewalk that didn’t give me much comfort with only my pork belly as a possible negotiation diversion. Perhaps as an alternative course of action, I can just breathe on them instead of taking out the mace. FOOD — 3 stars… spicy Kimchi but texture seemed off, decent pork belly AMBIANCE — 3 stars… strange, a bit like sleep chambers but you sit up SERVICE — 2.5 stars… good at the beginning but then just disappeared TOTAL — 3 stars… out of the gourmet ghetto and into the frying pan

Yes! Another great place to eat and drink, and it’s Asian. My favvv! Very similar to Porno Palace/Dang Sung Sa. Well, it’s the same owners haha. *17oz FLAVOREDSOJU — $ 13(about 8 – 9 shots) my friend and I shared a yogurt soju. Delicious but no buzz at all pitcher flavored soju — $ 27 * KIMCHEEFRIEDRICE — 4.5 stars($ 9) — wow! This was good. They actually had a variety of toppings: 2 different kinds of sausages, peas, carrots, corn, and cucumber! Very tasty and addicting, I ate it 4 hours ago and I’m still full. Egg and seaweed on top, but I just wished the egg was a bit more runny. Great dish though and I highly recommend it! * BULGOGI — 4 stars($ 15) — this was really good too! LOTS of good sauce, more sauce than I’ve ever had in bulgogi dishes! So I really liked that * FREEBANCHAN — it was ok. they gave 4 – 5 small plates. kimchee, dried shrimp, eggplant, and 1 – 2 other dishes I didn’t touch. ATMOSPHERE/OVERALL: It feels just like porno palace except less crowded, less noisy, and more clean. Korean bar type feel with isolated tables, but looks nicer inside with chinese writing décor rather than the ghetto magazine posters and permanent black pen writings on the walls. The neighborhood is still in the hood since it’s just down the block. But, the service here was great! I’d say, I think I like the food here more :)
