Dr. Phister saved my life! He was the only Oncologist who would accept TRICARE in the whole East Bay area in 2007. I was diagnosed with stage 3 – 4 follicular, large B cell NHL. I underwent six RCHOP chemotherapy treatments under Dr. Phister’s care. Although a bit eccentric, I enjoy Dr. Phister’s repartee and humor. His nurses are very caring and devoted. When you think about their caseload, it becomes vividly apparent that oncology is a very stressful practice. It does seem like Grand Central station during office visits. However, I’m just thankful to have a great doctor and nursing staff to take good care of me. I ‘m one of the lucky ones in four year remission.

I was referred to this man for hematology and should have looked him up first. My doc told me he was«eccentric,» but he is far beyond that. He was 30+ min late, unfriendly and unapologetic. His bedside manner is horrific and he talked me into having a procedure that ended up being painful and unnecessary. The office is completely disorganized. There are records of deceased patients out in the open in the bathroom. I called to order my results from the procedure I had and the woman told me she would send them to my house. When they hadn’t arrived a week later, I called back and the woman admitted that she lost them. I have never received such poor medical care in my entire life. The only positive thing is that the nurse there is very sweet. I hope she wises up soon and finds a new job. DONOTGOHERE.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Pfister for over 4 years. My underlying medical history has not changed — however, I have become progressively worse under his care. He doesn’t seem to care and further, he argues with me when I bring it up. When I mention obvious things, he gets defensive. I’ve been in chronic pain for years which began while I was seeing him, and he could care less. When I visit his office, the only thing he wishes to discuss with me are the results of my recent labs. If it were up to him, my appointment would last 2 minutes, but I have to force a conversation and tell him how I am feeling and ask for his advice. He offers none. I bring up obvious side effects that I am suffering from, he insists this isn’t true. I have a rare condition which he insists is common, yet offers no proof. Over the past 15 years, I’ve found no case studies like mine, but he insists it’s quite common but offers zero substantiation or further discussion. All my other doctors have told me for years I should get my care elsewhere. Typical visits consists of 2 hours waiting, 5 minutes with the doctor. I get billed exorbitantly for this. Not anymore.

This guy is an oncologist(Cancer Doctor) I started going to him a couple years ago, when I moved down here from Sac(where I had tretment at UCDavis) I initially found him to be nice and friendly, but over time it was obvious that he was chronically late, and had poor time-management skills. As of today, I will be swtiching doctors since this was the third and final time that he’s made me wait at least an hour past my scheduled appointment time(requiring me to leave before seeing him).
