Woke up this morning thinking about Dick’s, best apple fritters ever!

Nice folks, and donuts that are way above average. I tried two different kinds of raised donuts and was impressed with their density. I like a fluffy raised donut, generally speaking, but Dick’s raised donuts are different. Usually you have to rely on the glaze or the topping to provide flavor and sweetness, but Dick makes them with a denser core that has a sweet flavor all its own. I recommend!

I had a terrible experience with Dicks donuts on High Street Tuesday February 16,2016. As an occasional customer, I returned several donuts as they were unusually hard! The male Asian owner, expressed to me that in America that’s the way they are suppose to be! I ignored his irrational explanation and requested a refund, since he refused to replace the donuts! So sad, he had no customer service skills at all to help remedy such a simple request! Upon refunding my money, the Asian male owner, threw my money at me towards the counter, and then pointed to a sign on the wall stating that They reserve the right to refuse service. How rude and condescending was he and that totally disrespectful act! I left without further incident! During this incident, I observed several older gentleman who said absolutely nothing and simply shook their heads. So sad, so very sad that business establishments such as Dicks donuts, have no care in this world except for money with a total disregard for customer service and proper resolution of product quality issues. It’s safe to say that I will never patronize this business ever again, and I challenge others to refrain from patronizing businesses such as Dicks Donuts who have no respect for nothing except money !

No frills, classic neighborhood donut shop. Cakey, glazed old-fashions are best but you can’t go wrong with other options. Dicks Donuts are good at what they do: donuts. You’ll see plenty of regulars from 6:30 through the better part of the morning. Know what you want when you approach the counter, and pay in cash. Simple.

What a great place! I only went there for the first time today after having lived within a mile radius for 14 years. To be fair, we used to have a good donut place called Donut Time at 35th and MacArthur. But, since they closed shop on our street several years ago, we had to find a different donut spot. It just never occurred to me to try Dicks across the street from the high street walgreens. The donuts look awesome. My daughter is really craving a donut this morning m and chooses the glazed chocolate donut with some glazed donut holes. I get the cinnamon crumble donut. Amazing. I would compare this place with Colonial Donuts, which I love. I would give them closer to 5 stars if they had a sugar donut, my wife’s favorite. I probably got there today after they sold out of this flavor. I’ll be back.

I love this donut shop! They have huge donuts and a big selection of Peerless coffee. Their service is always excellent, prices are good, they keep it clean, and I always see regulars talking and laughing.

Best doughnuts in the Bay Area! Seriously. My home town has a small family-run doughnut shop that my dad and I frequented. Since moving to the Bay, I’ve looked all over for a place that’s comparable. I’ve found that every other classic doughnut I’ve had in the Bay has been either a). too greasy, so you have one and feel terrible, or b). just doesn’t taste very good. I say that having made special trips everywhere from Bob’s in SF, to Johnny’s in Lafayette, to a number of different places in Berkeley and Oakland. If you’re looking for a good classic doughnut, this is the place to go, without a doubt. Their maple bars are especially good. I also had a chocolate sprinkle and an unglazed old-fashioned(both also quite tasty).

Unassuming. Hole in the wall. Best donuts I ever had. And I’ve had a lot. Fresh every morning. Cheap. Cash only. You will love them.

Dick’s Donuts on High Street in Oakland makes remarkable pillows of delight. The donuts are light and airy and immense. Biting into one of these babies can make you swoon as the magic of hot oil, flour, sugar and butter is just perfect. Glazed to perfection, the maple and jelly donuts provide a pleasing crunch followed by doughy goodness. This family works hard, getting up at 4 a.m. to bake donuts right on the premises, and their smiles are genuine. Come for the donuts, the smiles are an added bonus certain to brighten up your day. I came to Dick’s on National Donut Day, thanks to other helpful Unilocalers. I plan to make more pilgrimages to Dick’s Donuts. Good donuts they make says YoDo.

These are the best most fresh donuts I’ve ever had in my life!!! Everytime I come here I buy more than 1. I don’t go anywhere else. Sometimes I’ll come and the donuts would still be warm and delicious. I kid you not you would love these donuts. It’s not a fancy place just a family owned business with excellent donuts. You will catch people in groups enjoying their donuts and conversating at a table and when you come in they’ll greet you. I honestly would get a donut every morning but that isn’t healthy lol. Try it you’ll see how Good they are

The name of the donut shop threw me off but I gave it a try :-) and I have been hooked ever since. The Cashier is always friendly. The donut shop is always neat and clean. The donuts are HUGE! I tried the maple bars and twisted glazed donuts and they are both great! This is my new go to spot. I recommend people give it a try even though it is not in the best area. Oh and they only accept Cash.

First time here and the service was not only friendly but the doughnuts are also HUGE. I got a glazed old fashioned because it JUST came out and it’s comparable to Krispy Kreme. So soft and fresh. Such goodness… Small hot chocolate and glazed doughnut for 1.90. Definitely a gem in the neighborhood so far. I would come back and bring people.

Good heavens, this cinnamon twist is nearly the size of my forearm! Donuts are tasty, fresh, and LARGE for a very reasonable price. New go-to donut shop in the East Bay; I can’t believe it took me this long to discover it. It’s an old-school donut place that has a line in the morning before work. There are separate lines for coffee and donuts, and if you can figure out how those lines work before having had coffee, you’re a better person than I am. But the lines move quick and are totally worth it.

Damn Damn Damn this is why I can’t lose this weight!!! Their glaze donuts are so Damn good it’s ridiculous. For the grown folks out there that grew up with a quality Wenchells Donuts, I hope I’m spelling that correct, but anywho… For those folks, from that era, that want a Damn good donut again… Go here and get you a regular glaze donut you will not be disappointed. On our tour of East Bay Doughnuts, we were most excited to try Dicks. It did not disappoint. The location of Dicks is a bit seedy – there are people drinking or putting forth their best vagrant look out in the parking lot. But this is a donut store! Not a luxury hotel. The location was near a freeway exit/entrance, so some might say the location is quite speedy. Enough has been written about the love for Dick(don’t read that the wrong way), but for our group, it came in second in our tasting. I usually get annoyed when I ask the doughnut vendor«what is good?» and they say«everything.» Hate that. But sometimes they’re not kidding. Yes, all the donut varieties were delicious. I would say, the time we went – it wasn’t quite as fresh as I would have liked. But it was still as you would hope a donut place to be. If I lived closer, I would come a bit more often. All this being said, I think we liked Ming’s slightly better just because it had a cleaner aftertaste.

Man. I hate to rain on the parade, but I didn’t think my donut from Dick’s was all that great. It was good. but that was it. I came on a Saturday morning around 11, and there wasn’t much selection yet. I decided to try the Original Glazed($ 0.80, ), and was happy to see they didn’t skimp on the icing. Surprisingly, the donut wasn’t too sweet. However, it was definitely on the dense/cake-y side, and not very fluffy, chewy, or pillowy, which is my preference. They also aren’t in the nicest area of town, and the parking lot is on the small side. I prefer the glazed at Golden Gate, which isn’t far from Dick’s. However, the best donut in the bay award still belongs to Stan’s in San Jose! Btw, it’s cash only here!
