The fighting, bullying and profanity coming from the mouth of 1st-​5th graders. I have never seen children’s education so poorly handled. They just have a handful of teachers that are good. Had several complaints in to the District. I won my complaints and I ended up transferring my boys.

Do any of these adults think about what using an elementary school playground as an off hour dog park can do to children? This is disgusting and I definitely will keep my son home from attending this transitional kindergarten at this school. It promotes disease and illness!

Dear parents who drive your kids to this school: Why do you insist on double parking on both sides of the street when you drop your kids off in the morning?
You’re creating a traffic jam in the mornings (I can’t go around you when there are three cars in a row doing this, and some other idiot has decided to double park in the opposite direction). and it’s DANGEROUS when you send your kids running across the middle of the street rather than having them use the crosswalk.
Please pull over at the end of the block where there’s more curb space.

In the city of Oakland, it is ILLEGAL to use school grounds as dog parks. There are dog parks at nearby Mosswood and Bushrod parks that can be of use. Parents and Neighbors of Emerson have been asked to Notify the police if Dogs are seen on the campus after hours.
Please keep in mind that CHILDREN USE THE PLAYGROUNDS and NOT EVERYTHING CAN BE «CLEANED UP!»
Please be aware of the sanitary issues brought about when animals do their business in areas where children play…
I am new to Emerson, however I CHOSE it over Peralta. The parents teachers and staff have made into the great school it is. Please stop by. Test scores have improved in each of the past 5 years.
Now if we could get the dogs off our grass…

I don’t know about the quality of the academics at Emerson, but as an after-​hours dog park, this place rocks. Totally enclosed with lots of grass and blacktop for dogs to romp on… But please, if you come, remember to close the gate behind you (for errant pups like mine who would love to run out and explore other parts of Oakland) and to pick up after your dog. I would feel terrible if some elementary school kid stepped in some poo left behind by an inattentive dog owner.
