Nice banh mi, bread crispy soft. In the morning, no menus but they have porridge that’s tasty. Personally I ask for no green onions on top or just scoop them off into one of those little sauce finger bowls. I liked the preserved egg porridge(congee) with cut up breadstick(Chinese donut) soaking in it. Soups were a little scant on noodles but otherwise nice. Will return.

Bakery and Restaurant combination. Their #9 Bun Mam Soc Trang, Fermented Fish Soup Base with Vermicelli noodles is pretty good, but a bit on the salty side. Cleanliness is good. Customer service is what it is for a small mom and pop restaurant, just average. They also sell birthday cakes and other bakery goodies.

This place is called Phuong Hoang in Vietnamese Awesome fresh sugar cane juice… Don’t need to go down to San Jose for these anymore. The moon cakes and pia(bia) cakes here are delicious, they bake those right here in the bakery. Parking could be a pain Will definitely go back to try other stuff

It’s been a tradition in my family to buy the green coconut birthday cake and being my first time ordering one; it took me a visit and 4 calls to get someone to understand what I wanted to order. never going back.

Since a little kid I’ve always been here to get cakes the last time I came here was on Halloween to order a birthday cake for my sister. The place is alright nothing special cakes can be pricey for the sizes I got a medium size cake for 40 bucks.

Looking for a quick snack while I’m in Oakland. I stopped by Fung Wong Bakery Café. Parking is a real bitch here. I was lucky enough to find a parking space. But everyone else ended up double parking in the lot which make it more frustrating leaving the lot too. Coming up to the counter, they have only a few items. The food wasn’t all that fresh but they were decent. Most of the pastry were sitting on in the display probably since the early morning. I got a few buns then some other stuff which is forgetful. —– + Pro: Fast service. — Con: Limited Parking (-_-) Overall: Would only come here when it’s convenient.

Not much of their product was fresh. There wasn’t much of it, either, it was weirdly empty and I felt sorry I had ventured in to try something new, I felt so out of place. They had buns, but they weren’t that good. I don’t know how common it is to put mayonnaise in with pork in buns, but that’s what these tasted like they were filled with. The taste made me gag, a little bit. I was hoping for some kind of neighborhood jewel, but was pretty disappointed. Victor knows his stuff, I have to say I’m surprised by Lolia’s high rating. I guess the wholesale part of the business is what they are known for.

This is a nice little bakery in the back of a tiny shopping center on East 14th. Every time i come here i see alot of little kids behind the counter, so i believe it is a family ran business. The service is like any other little asian store, just the normal hello and thank you. I got a cup cake, chocolate butter cookie and a egg custard for dessert. I have the say the cup cake was just right not too sweet just how i like it. The chocolate butter cookie was very buttery, nice texture and very tasty. The egg custard was not very good, the custard was very jello like. The crust was very plain. I used to come here at least twice a week back in the days for my banh mi’s until i found out about Ba Le. Banh Mi’s here are OK, nothing spectacular. 3 Stars for Fung Wong Bakery

this place is known for it’s mochi that is distributed bay area wide. here,. the baked goods selection didn’t look that fresh entrees: special(bbq pork, ham, …)3.00 bahn mi sandwiches 2.50 i ordered a special thinking it was was a combination of the various meats. i was so wrong. after putting on 2 smears of some kind of meat paste and some pieces of char siu, the lady then nuked it, and added some veggies onto it . the char siu and veggies were virtually tasteless. the char siu was very red, an indication of red dye use? it was a big disappointment.

I drove out here to check out the mochi here(on Thursdays, a fresh shipment of Fung Wong mochi hits the shelves at New May Wah and Sunset Super). They make good red bean mochi. I walked in and didn’t see any glutinuous rice treats anywhere. It looked like a regular Chinese bakery with sponge cakes, egg custards, cream horns, baked buns. Puzzled, I asked about the mochi. Apparently the mochi is part of their wholesale business and they only get them in on Wednesdays. Darn. The pastries looked pretty good but not great. The sponge cake looked a bit underdone rather than nice and golden. The red bean bread looked good. I tried the baked red bean bun. It was the pineapple variety with the sweet crust that I don’t really like. It was still warm… it took awhile to get to the red bean so I started to think it was going to be like Sheng Kee’s hollow shell of a bun. There was actually a generous amount of red bean inside the bun and the bun was nice and soft. I thought it was a little too sweet though, probably because of that topping. And probably too large. It would make sense to make a smaller bun since this one had so much paste. I could see why some people like the pineapple topping(fyi, there is no pineapple but the crust makes it look like a pineapple if that makes any sense) because it adds a crunchy texture to each bite. The buns are reasonably priced. They also make banh mi… might be good too since I assume they make their own bread.
