1^st this company refused to deliver a box of wine to my house although their were workers at my house and then they sent the box of wine back to napa even though I had already scheduled a pick up– without as much as a phone call. I’m pissed!

Absolutely awful. No notice of a delivery for a Friday so I came home to the delivery notice. I called in and the guy said he’d reschedule for Saturday but there’s no «window» for Saturday so «you have to be available 9 – 4. «
At 3PM I called b’cuz no package, the same guy I spoke to on Friday said there had been a mistake b’cuz «the shipper won’t pay for a saturday delivery.» I asked why he had told me to be at home all day waiting for the delivery!!! He said he was sorry — and that he had realized by 9AM on saturday that my package wouldn’t be delivered. I asked why he hadn’t called me to tell me! and he said he had left a msg on my voicemail. But no msg had been left and my iPhone didn’t show any contact from them. He clearly had lied.
He said next delivery day was Monday. I begrudgingly said ok.
Now it’s Monday — the website doesn’t show the package scheduled for delivery. I had to call back in. Different phone guy said package was never rescheduled but that he could deliver today by 5PM.
I asked to speak to a supervisor — no one available. I don’t think they really have any managers — no oversight, no accountability, apparently no service!
I agreed to delivery today and I called the shipper and complained about GSO. They said they have had many complaints and are definitely thinking about changing shippers.

Last year I ordered my bf a beer of the month club membership that he loved.
On his very last shipment they kept missing us somehow at home (you obviously have to sign for the package as it’s alcohol).
I work at a hospital and am home most weekdays but when I was home they wouldn’t come by. So, eventually I found out that they had returned our package.
I called and for free of charge they sent it back to us & I decided to come out there to Oakland to pick it up. It was a small, slightly difficult place to find, but the package was there & I was in and out in 5 minutes :)

The only reason they get an additional star for this one-​star rating is simply because the call center rep and supervisor were courteous and apologetic during my talk with them.
Ordered a pair of running shoes from running warehouse and the shoes failed to arrive when delivery was confirmed at 12 yesterday. The driver «came back» and spoke with me. He said he had left the package and pointed directly to the place he had left it. He even had the audacity to make up a story saying he had been at my residence by stating there was a woman who had handled my garbage cans. There was no woman at my residence at the times he said he was here let alone a woman that would dare touch the garbage bins. Furthermore, the call center had asked for the description of the driver. After giving this information, the supervisor said there appear to be some discrepancies in the driver id’s.
Did I mention the driver was a bit pushy and loud in regards to his delivery confirmation? He insisted he left it at «that!» spot. I live in a safe quiet neighborhood in a cul-​de-​sac with 2 other neighbors. Packages, even if delivered to the other 2 homes, always find their rightful owner. Couriers literally have a 1 in 3 chance at guessing the correct house for delivery and even if you miss, you’re still right. While contacting GSO’s call center, the driver told me to close my front door so he could take a picture of my house. Is this standard protocol for a missed delivery? He then quickly drove off and left my residence with me on the phone with no package.

I am able to ship my packages from Northern California to Southern California overnight for the same price other companies charge for 2 or 3 day shipping. Sure, they are not a big company with lots of vehicles but they do show up to pick up my packages every time and they always get it there the next day.

re: Wine Deliveries
Some things you just shouldn’t do. Ruining the wine experience for people is one of those things.
You really have to TRY to be this bad. Consistent conscious decisions to provide exceptionally poor service must be made in order to really be THIS incompetent.
I don’t know HOW the GSO «people» stay in business. They are incapable of making a delivery on time. Each driver apparently operates within his/​her own individual time-​frame, regardless of what is scheduled. Drivers regularly fail to show up, or arrive whenever they feel like, waaaay after the arranged 4-​hour window. Or just as bad… hours BEFORE the window. Last month, the driver even attempted delivery on a different DAY than arranged. This is unacceptable when the package contains alcohol and requires a signature. Not to mention all the extra jostling around the bottles are receiving.
If you do actually receive your wine, it arrives boiling hot, regardless of the weather and temperature outside. Yep, I think they must actually heat the stuff up before delivering it. The delivery personnel don’t speak English and drive in their own run-​down personal cars, windows down, and it’s certainly not «climate controlled» in any way, despite what blather the fraudulent customer service reps attempt to persuade you to believe. From my experience, these personal cars often break down and cause late deliveries. At least that’s the average reason that customer service provides me with.
I’m on hold with customer service as I type this… apparently my driver has been having car problems all day. Was I notified? Nah. So I’ve been waiting here all day for no reason? Of course. And yes, folks, this is only the beginning…
There is zero accountability at GSO. Negative accountability, actually… because as previously mentioned, one has to legitimately put forth an effort to be this irresponsible. Perhaps employees receive bonuses for achieving angry customers? Maybe the employees are vengeful against the owners and are maliciously attempting to drill the business into the ground? Maybe the GSO is owned by the Taliban???
Drivers have complete discretion to just blow off a delivery, with absolutely no repercussions. Many times, month after month, it’s been the same damn non-​English speaking delivery dude mucking it up again.
I can’t understand why any reputable wine distribution business would use this service. Yeah, it’s REALLY that bad; avoid at ALL costs kind of bad. So how does GSO even exist? Are they a front for a money laundering scheme? At least THAT would make some sense.
I’m off the phone now. Customer service has received no updated information, and cannot even communicate with tracking department or drivers. A supervisor can, but don’t expect a solution. Don’t expect things to be handled like a real business. These schlep-​rocks are incapable of instituting «fixes» for failed or late deliveries. I can’t tell you how many times I have been ASSURED by a supervisor that my wine packages will be delivered, yet each and every single time they are not.
The BS that spews from these «supervisor’s» mouths really makes it all worse. They will insist that your delivery is still coming, and keep you waiting at home in the mistaken belief that your package really will be delivered by that late 8pm deadline, even though it was originally scheduled by 4pm. Then at around 9pm you realize you’ve been swindled out of your time, waiting around for nine hours for something that will not be arriving — that you’ve been lied to over and over again as if it’s a game — and yes, you get to go through this wonderful cycle of ludicrous inefficiency and BS again another day. Maybe even a couple more times! Isn’t that a great service this company provides?!
The employees must enjoy it, at least. Taking money out of your pocket is what they’re doing. Time lost is far more valuable than a bargain deal on a case of wine that costs you several hours to try and receive. And if you add in the frustration factor, this company should be paying us to deliver our bottles.
This cycle of failure has happened so many times now, that the only logical and possible conclusion is that every single employee there is trained to just tell you what you want to hear, that they hire any TomDickHarry around to drive about and deliver packages, and not a one of them has any desire to succeed at their job description. Winners, all of them.
Unfortunately, the majority of wine clubs don’t offer any other shipping options. I’d gladly pay MUCH MUCH more to not ever have to deal with this garbage and it’s «employees» again. So the only real solution = no more wine clubs that use GSO.

Had a package picked up by GSO, and while entirely in their possession, it was stolen! Since GSO (Golden State Overnight) does not scan a package on pickup, they initially deny it was ever in their hands. As a customer, had to then deal with their lousy customer service. They do a poor two month long investigation, resulting in a denied claim. You basically have to do the investigation yourself. For example, get the driver log to show how many packages were picked up vs actually delivered. You would think GSO would have done that during their investigation, but no, that would require using your brain! You can often measure a company by how well they solve your problem in an open, honest and fair way, Golden State Overnight fails on all counts, and at all levels of their management. Suggest using a more reliable company like Fed Ex or UPS for your shipping needs.
