We had the best experience here this summer! Vanessa was a wonderful instructor and our 5 year old son went from zero swim skills to swimming underwater unassisted in 2 weeks. She did a frat job helping him to feel comfortable and able. The program itself was very organized and moved like clockwork. Every 30 minutes the whistle was blown and kids got in and out and lessons continued. It was overall a very great experience. I wish they had lessons year round because I feel like the bar has been set so high that other places will disappoint.

The best swim school around. Really (and we tried two others before landing at Helen’s Happy Swim school, formerly Haufler Aquatics). The instructors turned my two reticent to get in the water (one screaming through several sessions) kids into skilled swimmer who love the water and feel confident in their skills. My now 13 year old took lessons there from 3 – 7 (when she joined our local swim team) and can’t wait to be an instructor at HHSS one day. Her little brother is currently on the Montclair Swim Team and swimming with skill and happiness.
Can’t recommend this swim school enough.
Sign up is easy and I never had any scheduling issues during any of our sessions (8 years worth!).

My son has taken lessons with instructors under Helen’s management (this school and the previous one) for several summers. He liked all his instructors. They are good with the kids and do a good job teaching the basic skills. My son learned all the strokes and was able to join the local swim team. The instructors make the lessons fun. My son really liked his instructor’s cannonball demonstration and picked up pointers for making a bigger splash. Helen’s swim school is well run. The instructors were always on time. The pool is not over-​crowded so the kids have space to swim. There is plenty of parking. This is a great place to learn to swim.

I have put both kids through Helen’s swim school & both went on to swim for a local swim team. Having never been a competitive swimmer myself, I really appreciate that they were both given such a solid foundation of the four strokes. I had my nephew in Helen’s school for only two weeks. He could not swim at all and after two weeks was water safe and well on his way to a competent free-​style stroke. The instructors are all young, energetic, enthusiastic, and most of all patient.
Highly recommended for kids wanting to join a team.
