My experience with Dr. Kim was much more along the lines of Jennie S’s review. He was professional, helpful, and straightforward and I never felt that he was rude in any way. He also spent a lot of time explaining some of my medical issues to me, and I appreciated that he was willing to take the time. He’s not my regular GYN so I likely won’t see him again, but it was a perfectly fine experience.

Just to counterbalance the 1 star from the previous reviewer, I am going for 4. It’s not that my experience was amazing or life-changing. It’s that it was a perfectly fine visit to the gynecologist. I was assigned to Dr. Kim by Kaiser, and after reading this terrible review, I was almost scared to go but decided to just give it a shot. I was expecting someone rude, abrasive and maybe even just mean. That was NOT my experience at all. Let’s be clear. We didn’t sit there and share our life stories for half an hour or anything like that. Personally, when I go to a doctor – especially the gynecologist – I am not really looking to chat as if we were having a cup of coffee, and I especially don’t feel like detailing my entire sexual history, etc. This appointment was to the point. The doctor was very courteous and professional and I didn’t get this«rude, abrasive» vibe the reviewers have talked about. He explained everything, and only asked questions that were medically relevant, which I prefer, and explained why he was asking them too. He took the time after the check-up to call the pharmacy and double-check on which birth control pill would be the closest to the one I had been on with my old plan, which is not covered under Kaiser. I was not«blown away» by the doctor’s visit but when have I ever been«blown away» by a visit to a gynecologist? The whole appointment took about an hour from check-in to leaving with prescription(I used to have to wait at least an hour and a half just to get into the exam room at my old doctor), the pap smear was no more painful or humiliating than any other I’ve ever had, I found the doctor professional and perfectly polite. Sometimes I just don’t understand people’s negative reviews… either one of the two of them was having a very bad day, or some people just expect an awful lot out of a visit to a gynecologist.

I have to agree with you, p.n. This guy has the coldest, rudest, most abrasive bedside manner ever. I went in to get an antibiotic prescribed for a UTI. Staff in this office are abrasive and immature. HK interviewed me about my women’s health stuff in the rudest and least personal way. He has an amazing ability to maintain eye contact with his computer monitor. After making me feel thoroughly bad and dumb about my UTI and implying that I wasn’t smart enough to know if I was pregnant, he delivered a long and condescending lecture about preventive care and [implied] how stupid I am for not having my routine care done right then and there.(However, he didn’t provide me with any of the many simple tips for preventing UTIs!) Is he serious? Who would ever take off their pants near a guy like this? This is the opposite of patient-centric care, and it makes me furious to be treated this way or imagine any other patient receiving such disrespectful and unfriendly health services. Only if I were imminently dying, and there were no other OB/GYNs available, would I go near this guy again, and I recommend you protect your sense of well-being by avoiding him too.
