I am not sure if this fellow is in business anymore. Both my husband and I have tried to contact Joshua via phone and email to no avail.

Josh has been doing my taxes for two years now. Last year, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and he talked me through everything step by step. This year, I was late turning everything in and he was really understanding and still got everything done on time. I’d definitely recommend JLC!

I’ve been handling my business with him for more than two years now and i have to say that i am so very pleased with his work. Short and minimal questions but big results and he will get your refund in no time. Josh is a very good when it comes to customer service, you will feel at ease and not be aloaf when it comes to business. Everything he does is really precise and he will handle your problems in a jiffy, i refferred a couple of my friends and family to him and definitely recommending you to check him out especially tax season is almost done.
Note: he is billingual and speak fluent spanish. Its a plus plus

Two professional, and honest gentlemen handling your taxes — what more can you really ask for? I walked in on a Friday morning and was done in about 30 mins, it was painless and enjoyable even; both Joshua and Jose were very relatable and down to earth. I highly recommend that you check them out for all of your tax related needs!

If Unilocal has a 100 stars, I would give Josh just that. He is such a pleasure to work with. He is extremely knowledgeable and on top of that, he provides many services from taxes to property management yet he is on top of things. As an Oaklander, this place has the added bonus of being quintessentially Oakland. You have to walk through a hair salon, where they will point you to the stairs to get to the office. Perfect.

Josh was awesome — super fast, friendly, and accurate. Was in and out in less than an hour. I chose to do my taxes in person because I had some general tax questions regarding best practices, but in the future I will email all of my documents (super convenient). Josh was very patient, and answered all of my questions thoroughly without rushing. I had to pay about $ 50 more than my TurboTax software, which was well worth it since I didn’t have to worry about them!

How often do you walk out of a tax office with a smile? I couldn’t be happier; Josh is awesome.
First, he tried really hard not to take my money. I usually do my own taxes with TurboTax, but I had a special issue re sale of a rental property that I could not figure out how to handle with the software. I emailed my tax forms to Josh and he went over them at no charge, encouraged me to do it myself and gave me some tips.
No, I was flummoxed and did not want to continue trying to do it myself, so I made an appointment to see him at his very reasonable hourly rate. Again, when I got there, he had already reviewed my forms and was very prepared to help me. We sat together and figured out where I had gone wrong with the software and how to fix it. (A lot of people would have refused to do this.) Within an hour, he had not only fixed my forms, he went over everything with me so I could understand it and also reviewed a few of my other deductions to make sure they were right.
He really knows his stuff and seems to enjoy the complexities of taxes. He’s kind, friendly and just … excellent.

I have been lax on my taxes for various reasons, procrastination, not understanding Roth vs. Traditional IRAs, change of jobs, change of areas and (after the letter I received from state) I thought I owed money. I figured I better take care of this because that was last years and this year is due as well. I had all my paperwork for both years. It seemed to me to be pretty cut and dry, for someone that knows about taxes.
BTW, in the past I’ve used the on-​line web services since I don’t have children, not married and I don’t own a house or property. But I thought I better see someone as my letter didn’t seem correct .So I turned to Unilocal.
Call 1 The Tax Pros — I called told the lady I have the past two years of taxes to complete and turn in but I have all my paperwork and I claim the standard exception very cut and dry but I believe I owe for 2 yrs ago and probably have penalties. She said a minimum of $ 500! Really I’m not self-​employed or an employer, is this standard rate? She said, I can’t really tell you what others charge. OK thanks.
Call 2 Class 5 — I know where Jack London Square is. no answer left voice mail
Call 3 Streamline — again JLS familiarity I called. No answer left voice-​mail.
Call 4 Josh answers the phone right away. I wasn’t expecting it. He said you can either email your documents over to me or we could meet this afternoon at my office by Fruitvale station. He quoted me $ 80 per year, $ 160 total. I was very surprised to get attention immediately. No appointments weeks out. I chose to meet him, I just felt better for some reason. Our timing was perfect as we arrived at the same time. Josh is very cordial, very down to earth, and very patient with all of my questions. I had no clue I would have my taxes done right then and there. I ended up going down to feed the meter and grab some strawberries at the farmers market and by the time I got back he was done. He explained each year to me and why the state thought I owed them. I ended up walking out on the plus side of the ledger. Josh could’ve easily charged me more with all of my questions and scenarios and things I had heard I felt like sharing. Very nice guy, very professional, knows his stuff and saved me a lot in comparison to the Tax Pros quote. I was relieved I wasn’t paying hefty fines, rather getting money back. I really can’t believe I was able to reach him directly, set up a time that day and have it done. Remarkable. I will be back.

Joshua is a nice guy, and is definitely a knowledgeable and capable accountant. He is quick to respond when you need it, and I would look forward to talking with him more about my tax situation and having him do some consultation in the future.

I’ve been doing my income tax filing myself but i always have that dark cloud hanging over my head thinking that maybe I’ve done it wrong. So, to make peace with myself, I finally asked Josh to do it for me. I never doubted my decision at all. The moment I emailed & texted him about my income taxes, he replied promptly. Thanks to the Remote Tax Service that his office offers. I was able to scan my documents to him with no hassle. My income taxes were done the way I expected & more. I’ve known Josh for a while now & I can truly say that he is a person that you can trust — very personable & knowledgeable, too. I definitely recommend his services!

Josh is an affordable, knowledgable accountant, and a great guy as well.
My taxes were complicated, but he sorted them out. It was my first time having somebody do my taxes, and he really went the extra mile. Not only did he get the job done, but he helped me understand the process, and adjust certain deductions, and items on the fly. I really recommend using his services!

Stumbled upon this place while searching for a new accountant. Interviewed josh a bit and found out that he was very intelligent and helpful in many ways. I find him very useful and knowledgable in what he does. As of right now, he will be doing my taxes for my small businesses, accounting work and soon to be my project manager for some of my properties.
I would definitely recommend him to anyone that has questions or worries with taxes. Only thing I don’t like is that his office is only accessible through a hair salon. Other than that, his work is great. 5 stars

I came here for notary. Both Jose and Joshua are very friendly and professional. When it turned out I made a mistake on my document and went back to get the revised copy notarized, Josh even offered to comp it. Recommended.

My husband and I have been going to a different tax preparer for years before my sister told me about Josh. Josh is way better than our old tax preparer. He is very helpful. He explained to us everything we need to know about preparing our tax docs. Our old tax preparer just took our docs and gave us the filed docs once it was done. Josh went above and beyond that. He made sure we understood the process and he happily answered all of our questions. I was so happy with his service, I referred him to my mom. She loved him too! Highly recommended.

First of ALL lets me say JLC Joshua is very Professional and attentive to his customer’s. I was reffered by my Real Estate Agent and I have to say it was a Great refferal. My lender was so impressed by him over the phone she plans to reffer him to her clients.
If you want a proffesional and very knoledgeable CPA with affordable prices choose JLC CPA you will want to come back. I plan to come back to do my 2011 tax return at CPA !!!
