His peach cobbler had me calling out, «Grandma??» So authentic and the crust, buttery, flaky, FULL of flavor!!!

Ummm Yumm! My family hails from New Orleans so I likes myself some soul-food. But I don’t like overly greasy food. Kenny’s did not disappoint. Kenny’s personality is the best and his food delivers the GOODS. The Mac and Cheese is a little rich for my blood but my husband, son and tons of others I know LOVE it. He caters as well. You’d be cray-to-the-cray not to try this place out.

Kenny’s food is amazing. The cornbread and mac’n’cheese was so delicious. But not only is his food so great, he is also an amazing person. I had the opportunity to meet the man behind the truck this weekend, and he could not have been kinder. Anytime I see Kenny’s Heart & Soul, you know I will be stopping for a bite.

Kenny’s was on campus today and overall I was disappointed with the experience. I expect food trucks to be expensive to begin with and usually the quality makes it worth it. Sadly, I don’t feel the quality and quantity was worth the price. Since it was my 1st time trying them out I got 2 different meals(Say what??? Yes, yes I did). I ordered the pork and Mac which was priced at $ 10. I also got the 6pc of chicken($ 10) with Mac(+$ 2) well as 2 pieces of cornbread(+$ 2ea). The pork plate was a scoop of pork and a scoop of Mac and they put the corn bread which I wanted separate but whatever. The pork was good but the mac&cheese was dry(probably from sitting in the truck all day). Cornbread was too dry as well. The chicken was nothing special. Plain old fried chicken. Definitely not worth $ 10. Maybe $ 7 or $ 8. Maybe. Half way through the mac&cheese though I notice that the plate is soaked with oil/grease. There also is now an after taste which hints of beer mac&cheese. Again nothing special in fact hardly could be called cheesy at all since there hardly was any to be seen. Sadly I had higher hopes but they did not live up to the hype which at this point is just that… hype. The guy was nice enough, but I won’t be eating there again.

The greens and wings really hit the spot! So happy they cook them with the ham hock — the other truck nearby didn’t and you can tell. Perfectly seasoned and portioned. Prices ain’t bad either! I always make a point to grab at least one item from them if I ever see!

Everything was really good. The Mac and Cheese was really good, very cheesy. Only thing about it the Mac and Cheese is that it was just to rich with cheese making it hard to continue chewing. The fried Chicken was very good, especially with hot sauce. No complaints about the chicken at all! I also tried the Cornbread and Sliced Pork. Pork was really good as well as the cornbread. No complaints! Must Try this Food Truck– friendly workers as well, really down to earth people!

Food: pretty damn good, I would’ve given 4.5 stars. Deal: 1 – 2 stars. I’m not a person who complains the most about portion, but their portion is quite tiny. I hope they reconsider how they price food.

My lunch today: BBQ riblettes– not BBQ’d or slow-cooked. I had to gnaw the meat off the bone. Collard greens with smoked turkey– my greens were still crunchy and bitter. They were not cooked properly and I could not eat them. Wasted $ 16 Super-disappointed.

I really wanted to like this truck, because the owner, Kenny, is just super nice. I ordered fried chicken wings, collards and peach cobbler. First, I think 5 wings for $ 10 is pretty pricey. They could have used a lot more seasoning — I found them fairly bland. The collards could have also used salt. The peach cobbler was soggy and they were just too heavy handed with the nutmeg– it’s all I could taste.

I ate at kennys food truck one time before, when I attended the off the grid event. I felt as though my chicken could have been fried a little harder to my preference. So on 4⁄10 they were back again. I was super exited to get my chicken but when I proceeded to ask the guy taking orders that if it was possible to cook my chicken a little harder or longer. he responded very rudely and told me that«he wasn’t going to hold my little five chickens wings in longer when there was a line When they already fried back up.» Then proceed to say«it’s not raw chicken it’s done» as if he was upset with me asking a question
I understood that he couldn’t cook my chicken longer, the way he responded to it was unprofessional and I decided against giving him my money .I have never had bad customer service on this food truck before so that was a turn off to me

Wwwwwwwwwthhhhhh ok I know to expect small things from trucks #thatswhatshesaid but my lunch set a new record. #iwishatruckWOULD confuse my order bc if these literally bite-size pieces( ) counted as the 5 riblettes for $ 10 I paid for, then Kenny sure has a small heart or a small soul. #nothatinjustsayin Food tasted nice but #demservingsizesdoe.

I could write pages about how wonderful Kenny was when he catered our wedding last year and how much all our guests loved his food but to make it short and sweet I had his ribs, chicken wings and potato salad on Friday at Off the Grid Lake Merritt and the ribs were AMAZING. All of it was good. Kenny can make some ribs! Ps, I was vegetarian for 16 years before getting pregnant with twins and starting to eat meat… so I’m pretty picky.

Yummmmmm!!! I had this last week at Phill off the grid. The pork mac n cheese is a perfect portion. It really was soooo yummy. I could have probably ordered the mac without the pork too, cause it was so cheesy and good. My boyfriend had their wings. I only wish these were boneless but the seasoning was perfect. The employees are friendly and they even sell koolaid!!! Hilarious. I will be back for my comfort food fixins.

I was at Ale industries and Kenny’s Heart & Soul Truck was Stationed Outside !!! I had been Enjoying a few Micro Brews and was a little Turned Up. LOL I developed a case of the Munchies, so I rolled out front to Kenny’s Heart & Soul and Ordered the Fried Chicken Wings . They were ready in 8 Minutes . The Wings were cooked just right and not Oily at All . Next Time I run into the Truck I will try other Menu items. There’s a $.50 cent Charge For Credit Cards.

One of the few food trucks on my campus, I decided to give Kenny’s Heart & Soul a try. Kenny seems like a cool guy, cause I see him always talking to other students on campus or his customers. The food truck didn’t offer too many selections compared to other trucks and I decided to opt for the BBQ pork and Mac($ 8). Menu ranged from $ 8 – 10(from what I seen cause they ran out of pies). Drinks are $ 2.50 on his truck. The BBQ pork was delicious! But the Mac didn’t please me too much. maybe because there it wasn’t as cheesy as I expected it to be, or it tasted a bit dry. If he had just the BBQ pork, I think I’d order it again for $ 8 ;) otherwise, I think I will probably be trying out the wings next time. I think there’s a 9% tax and an extra charge of 50 cents for credit card charges.

Kenny’s a charmer. when i expressed disappointmet about ribs not being on the menu. he mentioned they sold well but wasn’t profitable. . so i asked for recs on the sides. skipped wings(too much fat…) locale: san lorenzo street eats(6⁄19) eats: mac cheese(4) –very cheesy, easily better than most soul places –better than average mac cheese –still 2nd to Savourie Streets’ mac cheese, 3ish stars.

My review is only for the mac n cheese… maybe I’ll have to come back and try the other food. This establishment is highly rated on Unilocal and I love mac n cheese. The workers seemed really nice and friendly stars for that. at $ 4 a serving you get a decent amount for«truck prices» They were fast and my coworker and I each got a box. I guess if you like pepper then you might like the mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was plastered with pepper, unfortunately that is all you can taste. A bit of tabasco or some sort of hot sauce might’ve given this mac n cheese more flavor. I know mac n cheese is heavy in general, but this one felt extra heavy and the paper box was drench in it’s oil by the time I made back to my office. I will not be purchasing the mac n cheese again.
