Mmmmm… I came in here looking for something for my mom. They are expensive compared to regular Chinatown prices. Who buys a shirt for $ 165 dollars? Especially if it’s some fake Italian brand? Was the last reviewer being sarcastic?

Forget Paris. Forget Milan and London. Forget New York. The most fashion forward places in the world are the Chinatowns. Have you seen how adept little old Asian ladies are at mixing patterns and creating silhouettes? How about the use of accessories or mixing(impostor) designer goods and no-name pieces? These ladies have never heard of Anna Piaggi – the master of crazy old lady chic and Editor-at-Large at Italian Vogue – and they could give a flying fuck. They have tapped into some amazing collective unconscious of off-the-wall fashion. If you ask me, celebutantes should be paying these little old ladies a fortune to style them because they have more sense of fashion in their wrinkly pinkies than in all of Rachel Zoe’s bony, living cadaver. Lady’s Shop is a good place to start if you want that fashion forward Chinatown-meets-Anna Piaggi look. There are lots of insane pieces here, including a bright yellow fur vest I just saw in the window. If you’re too trad to carry the torch of Fashion with a Capital F, then you can find respectable fake Burberry items here that don’t look too obviously fake. The best thing about getting your fashions in Chinatown, as opposed to Intermix or something, is that everything is ridiculously cheap. But if you know how to put it all together, you will get two snaps and then some from the most scrutinizing and catty clotheswhore. I curse my genetics for not giving me a hot glamazon figure to pull off the crazy yellow fur vest. On second thought, I should have asked Lady’s Shop to put that vest on hold for 25 years, by which time, I hope to have mastered the fine points of little old Asian lady chic.
