53rd and Hollis in Emeryville is my recent discovery! This corner is a spot where you can find your East Bay Food Trucks that rotates on a daily or weekly schedule. Not quite sure how the rotation goes, but today I was able to catch Localicious, a season inspired gourmet restaurant on wheels. The menu had a pretty big selection but my sister and I both went for the Chicken and Sausage Rice($ 8) — saffron and smoky paprika rice, spicy sausage, chicken and veggies. Now let me tell you, this was very well made. It was a very bold and flavorful combination, my sister and I really enjoyed this dish. We also got the Brave Potatoes with some spicy butter sauce and sour cream($ 3) and the Lime Ricky drink($ 2). The potatoes was an excellent side dish, very tasty and the Lime Ricky was quite unique. They make you the drink as you order it so it was very fresh. Overall, I’m a fan. Can’t wait to try more from the menu.

I was excited to pull over to try a new truck out. The menu was pretty good. The chicken salad sandwich was really bland. Good tasting chicken, but not enough seasoning or condiments. The arugula was a great addition. I really liked the fact that they use local and perhaps organic ingredients, but I think it might be worthwhile to step it up a notch in the flavor department in order to make a go of it in the Bay area and charge $ 8 for a little sandwich.

Been here once — about 9 minutes ago. They were parked in Emeryville and no crowd. Strange. I ordered saffraon/paprika rice with spicy sausage(merguez?), chicken and veggies as well as $ 2 bowl of kaleslaw: raw shredded kale, grated romano cheese, toasted almonds, lemon, olive oil. I thought food was fantastic. The flavors in the rice bowl were bold and yummy. Rice was perfectly cooked, sausage had kick and far from dry and chicken was tender, organic and moist. Great dish, although maybe a little costly($ 8). Honestly $ 6 or $ 7 would have been better pricing. Kale was obviously a simple dish, but fantastic, and only 2 bucks! I loved the combo of these two items. So, I spent $ 10 and ate local(venue and food), ate healthy and also fsatisfied my taste buds. That’s about how much some schmucks pay for a subway sandwich, a drink and a shitty cookie. I’m full and happy. Try it.

I was just looking for some comfort food so I ordered the egg salad sandwich, and it was awesome! With olive tapenade instead of the traditional green relish, some excellent greens and some very good bread, this was a great sandwich. Likewise the carrot-ginger soup was very tasty. The rest of the menu looks great, and I will be working my way thru the whole thing because it all looks too good to miss. Welcome to Emeryville, we’re very happy you have joined the street food scene here! Keep parking at 62nd& Hollis.

Localicious is a relatively new gourmet lunch truck. It’s unique because it’s the first food truck I’ve seen that promotes a menu with local-sourced, and sustainable ingredients. Don’t worry, it’s not a vegan truck, although they can eat there too. It’s so good, that I ranked it several notches above the average taco truck or any other previous street food trucks I’ve tried so far in the bay area. This is the type of food truck that your mother would be happy for you to eat at. I can tell you that the food I tasted was both deeelicious AND nutritious. Add any other positive words u can think of that end with«icious» — it’s that good. The entire menu was a winner, just awesome! On the menu: — Roasted padron chilies($ 3) — simple & delicious, my favorite item — Chicken and sausage rice($ 5) — like a paella dish — Ginger ale($ 3) — a slightly carbonated drink that has REAL grated ginger inside, very refreshing, never had one this good. Currently the truck is in Palo Alto, catering sports events. But the staff told me that in the future they hope to be regulars in SF. Get updates on Twitter/Facebook/blog.
