I order catfish and chips. The person behind orders the same thing. But when I go to pick up my order. The person behind me gets their order before me. What kind of service is that?! Besides that, the fish was not cooked all the way. Bad service. And it was my first time eating there.

Been here to grab some take out a few times. Owner is always at the counter. Very friendly and will usually throw in an extra shrimp, more fries, etc. Food is always cooked to order. Love the shrimp & fries, and the chicken is also tasty. Hope they stick around for a long time.

Very fresh and perfectly fried with corn meal. Only thing missing is fresh lemon or lime to squeeze on fish. Generous serving, simple atmosphere, pleasant service.

Friendly people and good fish(snapper) although I did not care for the cornmeal batter, I believe it’s authentic. Would rather have the English style preparation.

Great tender hot fried catfish. If this place was in my neighborhood, it’d be hard to resist.

Really middle of the road. It really didn’t have much flavor due to the batter. It would have been better with a splash of spice. On the plus side, it was hot and plentiful for the price.

Fried catfish. GETIT. It’s a really big portion. I should have shared it with someone but didn’t realize how large the regular portion was. I didn’t think this place would be that good but I was really impressed. The service is really friendly too. She this really nice Korean(I think) lady who is helpful with menu suggestions. Would gladly come here again!

Went here for the first time today after it being recommended by a co-worker. Got the 15 piece catfish nuggets &side. Paid $ 8.50 and there was enough to slpilt between two people. The catfish was breaded and cooked nice. got a side of fries which were cooked just right and seasoned with spices. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for something new. Especially if you work around Pill Hill.

We love the fish! The fries were a little oily… but the fish was perfect! And the owner was friendly and kind and had a wonderful spirit :-) we will definitely come back to enjoy the fish.

Updated my review from 3 to 4 stars, because we’ve revisited several times for the extra crispy fried catfish. It’s consistently tasty.

Went here last night, usual fish dinner on Fridays during Lent. My friends baby wS in the hospital so we picked her up and took her here for dinner! We were not disappointed! So yummy! The fried fish was perfect! The breading was not super thick, thin but perfect for fried fish! And the fish was so fresh! We split the fried catfish and prawns combo with coleslaw, my boyfriend had the fried fish with fries! He has had many different fried fish combos from many places and he really enjoyed the fish as well.(We got catfish, they have other fish too, we almost got salmon) the coleslaw was perfect great coleslaw!(If you like coleslaw get it!) The fries my boyfriend got were okay, nothing too fancy. The service was great, they explained everything, every combo comes with 1 side and the fish comes with 5 pieces the prawns come with 13 pieces(plenty for 2 people!) It is pretty expensive, about $ 30 for the 3 of us.(That is my only fall back) Overall great place!!!

Absolutely delicious! I’ve been comming here every few weeks when we do laundry at the place two doors down, the service is very friendly and they remember us by name which is great for a business :). My boyfriend always says he know I’m going to come here when I do the clothes cuz they’re so good. I’d recommend the catfish nuggets, I swear I won’t eat fish n chips if they’re not done right, and by that I mean in the cornmeal batter with good seasoning and cooked right with plenty of juicy meat. This place puts their name on all that. I call it butter catfish, cuz that what it is, crunchy but the meat is smooth like butter. It’s delicious at a fair price and I plan to go back often and try their other items on the menu including the burritos ^_^

The fries were good. I ordered catfish and fries, I was asked if I wanted it cooked regular, soft, or well done. I should have said well done because it was no where near the way Ieven thought it would be. My daughter ordered the prawns which she really enjoyed. The portions are good though costly. Costumer service is A1. I would go back to try something else or order the fish well done.

Good portions & good food. Locally owned and operated, and the service is always impeccable. I’m not sure why people are complaining about not getting fries/chips, but you do get a side with every order unless you only order the seafood a la carte. I’d actually recommend the potato salad — it’s awesome and you get a big cup of it. They also get fresh shipments of cake from a local bakery. I’ve only had the red velvet but the slice was enormous and it was incredibly good. Also, shout-out to the reviewer who pointed out that it is «Korean owned and operated». First of all, I’m pretty sure they are Filipino(the girl at the counter mentioned that her mother is Filipino, and she’s pretty much the only person who works the counter when I’ve gone there). For all you know the family has been in Louisiana for three generations and decided to move to Oakland and open up a shop because they missed the food back home. Secondly, it doesn’t matter what their ethnicity is as long as they provide good food at reasonable prices.

Tried this place for the first time, I ordered their two way combo, fish(sole fillet) & Cajun wings(10 pcs) w/chips(fries) as side order(see pictures). The total came to $ 22.00! The sole fillets were paper thin, and you get four pieces. Their Cajun wings were tiny. Way over priced. Never going back there again. The taste was just ok, can’t find the fish. Their tarter sauce and other sauces were watery too. If anyone insists on going there, I think you would be better off selecting cat fish instead of sole fillet. Two stars — cat fish may possibly be a better fish choice. I can’t tell you if their fish were fresh, because I can’t taste the fish under the crispy outside layer.

When I can’t decide what I want to eat I turn to nearby places on Unilocal and look for a spot that stands out. Today it was fish and chips, I just haven’t had them in a couple of years. So my short 4 block walk took me here. The owner is really sweet and chatty. She shared a story in her life that made me laugh. However I’m not rating her kindness. I ordered catfish with prawns, fries and hush puppies. Now my question is this, if you to a place called fish and chips aren’t the fries included? Not here they are listed as a side, makes no sense. The catfish was actually good and that’s my two stars. The prawns were dry over cooked and had more corn meal on them necessary. The fries were not crispy. The hush puppies were dry and tasteless. It’s possible I may go back just for the catfish and I may get coleslaw as the side. It would be nice to have cornbread on the menu also.

Great. Simply great. Girlfriend is from the Cape Cod– pretty much as East Coast as you can get-, she said it was the best Oyster Burger/Po Boy she’s ever had. She lived off Wellfleet Oysters and fresh caught seafood her entire life– and this took the hook! Absolutely fresh tasting and perfectly seasoned. Big burger too– for $ 10 you cannot go wrong. I had to Fried Tilapia fish and chips. Fish was super crispy and pulled apart great. Fries were double dunked for sure– super crispy outside and softness inside– fingers left slightly greasy, but mouth fresh and clear. Owner/manager/old asian lady was a delight– super nice and loves to laugh. She threw in a free coleslaw; which was a true present! I will definitely be placing a large order for next weeks Friday lunch for the office!

I’m from the south and miss good fried catfish. This place comes closer than any place in the bay to that distinct southern fried catfish taste. I’ve had catfish, tilapia, and the hushpuppies. Fries are OK. I like the fact that some hotsauce is cooked into the catfish to give it an extra zing. Lady who runs the place is nice.
