Love this place! So delicious. My go to before I head to work for a late lunch/early dinner. The amount of food is enough where I feel full but not too much where I feel gluttonous. I do wish there was an «extra sashimi» option though. Food is quick to be made, staff is friendly, the restaurant itself has quaint and modern décor.

Stopped by on a Saturday morning at 11:40am. Since it pretty much just opened, the place was empty! I ordered the Veganator, and was thoroughly impressed. 1. There was just a thin layer of rice in my sushi burrito, leaving room for lots of filling. 2. The textures and flavors in the veganator were impressive. Definitely not like traditional sushi, but in a delightful kind of way. The peanuts in the veganator were a really nice touch. 3. Everything was fresh! 4. The guys working were really friendly and seemed to really care about their product. It was a 10 minute wait after ordering 3 «sushirittos». 5. The restaurant seems to cater to gluten-free folks. I believe most, if not all, of the rolls are GF. They also have GF cookies, chips, and SOYSAUCE! Hallelujah! 6. I don’t eat fish, but I appreciated that they marked which fishy«sushirittos» contained sustainable fish. Just one thing… if you’re vegan, I would ask to have the knife that cuts the«sushirittos» to be cleaned before cutting your veganator. OR don’t have it cut. OR get the bowl version!

This place is great. Huge portions. Great customer service and how innovative and apropos for the east bay sushi and burrito combo. They also make the. In rice bowls if u don’t want a ridiculously large sushi Burrito stuffing your face

Home of the sushiritto! They offer quality sushi at fair prices. Most of the sushirittos start at around $ 11 and are packed with many bites of scrumptious fish. If sushirittos aren’t your thing, they have rice bowls, as well. Also, get the zucchini side salad — it’s light, citrus-y and refreshing. A delight to the taste buds!

The area is very busy so it is actually hard to find parking. I came in during happy hour with my girlfriend and we were eager to try the concept of a sushi-burrito. The place itself is pretty small and dark, so you’d probably want to take it to-go. The place was completely empty when we got there, so we were first in line. After we ordered, it took about 5 minutes for the guy to finish, so if you’re nearby and thinking of a grab-and-go sushi, this is the place to go. However, the sushi burrito itself was quite plain. I got the Hot Tail, and it tasted like rice with coleslaw. It wasn’t that big either, I was still hungry after. Overall, the service was quick, and the sushi was mediocre, but personally I would not come back because it was not worth the money.

This review is for the Veganator bowl, which is all I’ve ever had here, but it’s all I need to get here because it is perfection. It is simple and complex, light and filling, healthy and lavish all at the same time. I order online it is super easy. Ask for wasabi and ginger on the side, the wasabi is hella strong and will clear out those sinuses. Very small inside, with rather awkward and uncomfortable stools along a bartop — prefer to take out.

This spot is O-K. Could be better. I really want to try it again but don’t want to be disappointed.

I’m obsessed with the Sushiritto/sushi burrito trend and honestly can’t get enough, so of course I have to try this place, working only a block down the street. It’s right behind Ike’s by Lake Merritt and usually not too busy. The vibe of the whole place is really cute with bench seats along the walls and a good selection of sushi burritos and bowls. I really want to love this place, but it’s just average. I like the ratio of fish to other fillings(veggies, rice, etc) and that it holds together well and doesn’t fall apart mid-bite. The owner and staff are also extremely friendly but I felt the wait to make my order took longer than it should have. The biggest con for me is for the price. It’s a little too small for how much it costs(anywhere between $ 9 to $ 12) and I don’t feel full. The ingredients taste average — not bad but not the freshest. All in all, just an average place for lunch but not the new Sushiritto.

If you visited Torpedo when they first opened then you probably know about the wonder that was the original Veginator. Unfortunately the new veggie option is a complete flop in my eyes. The old one had apples, sweet potato chips and was simply divine. Even my meat eating friends were impressed by how flavorful the option was! WELP, not only have they changed the recipe… but it’s a flop. Filled with bland tofu(what is it with people throwing tofu in every non-meat dish?) and lacking any sort of flavor. Why not have two Veginator options? To add insult to injury I found a superrrrrrr long hair in my roll, so that abruptly ended my mediocre meal. Hairnets guys! They exist for a reason. Reached out to Postmates for a refund.

Cool concept — super-sized sushi rolls that are passed off as «sushi burritos.» They taste interesting enough, although they’re packed with veggies like cabbage instead of actual fish or other proteins. Moreover, something just feels weird about eating a warm roll, right down to the fish itself. Prices are a tad high too. Nevertheless, a nice lunch option to have, or a cheap early dinner if you’re around for happy hour.

Torpedo Sushi reels you in with the promise of hand held sushi rolls beckoning you from signage located on the corners of the street. Of course I had done my Unilocal research prior and knew that they had a single Vegan option. The«Veganantor» is essentially the same thing whether it be in roll or bowl form. What I didn’t know was that they only serve«sushi burritos» or bowls here. No traditional sushi. Which is fine by me. Why would you order«regular» sushi from a hipster joint such as this anyways? You order at the counter and wait ’til your name is called. It’s a great quick lunch option as their food is designed be transported. That’s some forward thinking considering that the tiny shop only has a few seats lining the walls. Although they do have a few beers on tap that may have you wanting to stay awhile. We got the Vegantor two ways. Roll for me and a bowl for my lady. It’s not quite like getting a bowl vs burrito at say, Chipotle since you’re not saving calories by not getting a tortilla. The wrap used here is seaweed. Actually the bowl will probably set you back more calories since there seems to be more rice and tofu used. While it’s $ 0.50 more for the bowl, you certainly get your money’s worth. I love that The Veganator is the cheapest item on the menu. Nope, no shady Vegan tax here. In the end, I preferred the flavor of the roll. Mainly due to having more of a sushi taste from the seaweed wrap, whereas the bowl only has indiscernible flecks of nori. They are both pretty damned good though. The flavor ratio from the avocado, braised tofu, jicama, and miso-ginger dressing is perfection. Also, using Hodo tofu kicks the quality up a notch. The only thing that could make this a better experience is picked ginger and wasabi for the ultimate palate blaster. To keep this place from becoming a lunch only operation they have generous happy hour pricing. $ 1.25 off rolls and a few bucks off beers will have you thinking about this place as a dinner destination. Maybe not so much as a date night spot. More of a grab and go on your way home so you can get in more PS4 time rather than cooking option. It’s a win/win for everybody!

If I was stuck in between choosing to going to a regular sushi place and Torpedo Sushi, I may just choose the regular sushi place. I just have an issue with my sushi burrito being stuffed with red cabbage and lettuce and that’s all I’m eating. The first time I went, I was enthralled and I thought it was better than –a place that shall not be named, a fierce competitor-… I wanted to retract my statement the second time I went. The first time I went, I ordered the Slam’n Salmon. There was to much red cabbage in it. I also ordered the miso clam chowder… It was a bit watery and bland. It was a big disappointment because I LOVECLAMCHOWDER. It was good but it was so great that it made me want to go there again. Guess what? I went again, haha. Out of pure curiosity of what everything else tasted like. The second time, I ordered the Half Baked Burrito. Maybe something cooked would have swayed me to like the place more but it didn’t. One thing I can rave about is the customer service. The two guys that make everything are friendly and hospitable. *Thumbs up.

This place sinks my Battleship. And not in a good way. This place is NOT the bomb, it’s more like a dud. Expensive sushi burrito rolls that Sushiritto can make better for the same price. My burrito was about the size of one of those McDonald’s breakfast sandwiches. Note to self: Skip this, even if desperate for sushi in Oakland…

Just had lunch here and loved it! The service is fantastic and the guy at the cash register was extremely friendly and accommodating. They also have a great selection you can get a sushi burrito, salad or a bowl. I ordered the rainbow burrito. It comes with fresh salmon and tuna sashimi, snow crab, cabbage and sauces. It was delicious and really fresh! You can also order the burritos without rice if you’re paleo or low carb. The only thing was the price, $ 13.50 but it’s really large and filling, the ingredients are also really fresh. My friend got the California burrito with snow crab, avocado and cucumber. It was only $ 10 and she loved it! I would definitely recommend this place for a quick lunch, they also have seating outside for nice days like today. We’ll be coming back! Tip: if you check in you get a $ 5 gift card when you purchase a $ 20 one.

Got the rainbow roll torpedo for $ 13. The roll was small and skinny… so portion-wise, it wasn’t quite worth the thirteen bucks. It also had minimal salmon/tuna/crab and was filled mostly with cabbage and radish. But it wasn’t totally bad, hence the two stars. I was the only one there on what seemed to be a slow day and it took about 15 minutes to make my roll… does it usually take that long? Can’t imagine how it’s like when theres a rush. The employees were friendly which was nice. However… they don’t wear gloves and go back and forth with wrapping the rolls and working the register. Overall, a bit disappointed with my experience here– not sure if I would try it again.

My friend and I was craving sushi burritos so we found this place in Oakland. There’s some seating but we decided to grab it to-go. I got the Hot Tail and my friend got the Slamin’ Salmon. I like the kick in my roll. The Slamin’ Salmon was alright for my friend. She said the wasabi was too overwhelming and there was too much cabbage as well as not enough fish. I wish they had sushi burritos with tempura in them because I think that would make it better. I didn’t notice any with that option. Overall the food was good but I’ve had better. The service was great though.

Cool concept, friendly staff but really overpriced for what you get. I tried the Half Baked with Salmon and there was definitely more carrots in there than anything else and I thought it all in all lacked enough flavor. The good thing is that they offer free wasabi and fresh ginger, which I added liberally to the«sushi burrito». The staff are really friendly though and accommodated my request for brown rice. I will come back to try another roll with their $ 5 Unilocal check-in offer but I’d be hard pressed to pay full price again.

I’m so sad to give them 2 stars, but really I wish I had not eaten lunch here. Their rolls are stuffed with more filling than actual fish, aka tons of cabbage, carrots, and radish… ingredients that I totally forgot were in sushi. Silly me. Ultimately it’s not the worst meal I’ve ever had, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to a friend. The rolls are pretty small… If you really want a sushi-burrito I would recommend Sushiritto instead, where the price is about the same but the rolls are significantly bigger and tastier. There’s a small seating area with 10 or so bar stools set up. Went at 11:45 and there was no line. Service is pretty good, just not the food.
