Miriam Drace

As a newcomer to bodywork in a studio and Pilates, I was intimidated. Miriam eased me into the process with great care, insight and knowledge. She is an excellent listener, very assuring and can meet you exactly where you are. Very pleased and grateful to have found her.

I have been working with Miriam for a few months to help me work through chronic upper back/​shoulder pain. Miriam helped me understand that my whole body, from foot to ankle to glute to hip and across my back needed conscious awareness and focused work to make a difference. I walk differently now and feel much better overall. I first met her as a group pilates teacher and both her group classes and our individual sessions have been very helpful. She is a really great teacher and a super nice person. Highly recommended.

I have been using Miriam for individual training and pilates classes as part of rehabbing my serious back problem. she is excellent; she uses her extensive knowledge of the body to observe carefully and guide my focus in a precise way, using a variety of cues and quickly modifing exercises which help whatever problem I am having. she has a lovely, present, calm, non judgement energy.

Wonderful energy, smart, progressive, Pilates, Aryuveda, and very intuitive. I echo the other reviews that she is an excellent listener, can pinpoint what you need and can talk thoroughly and as geekily as you need about your body, anatomy, and strength. Our work together, while only at the beginning phase, got to something much more difficult for me, heart opening. She was able to illuminate so much about this injury I sustained 7 months ago to this skeptical, cynical client, that I very much look forward to our work together.

I started seeing Miriam last year as a result of a rotator cuff tear in my left shoulder. My mobility had become quite limited and there was constant pain in my shoulder area, all of which caused me to limit my activities severely (which was an issue as I am the mother of 3 very active boys). According to my doctor, surgery seemed to be the only option. I tried Pilates based on a recommendation of a friend who had a similar injury. I had never done Pilates and actually was a little skeptical about how it could help. I worked with Miriam for most of 2012, and it was a wonderful experience. As a result of my work with her, my shoulder returned to being 100% mobile and pain-​free. Not only did Miriam help with my shoulder issues, but more importantly, she helped me better understand my body. She is knowledgeable, a good listener, and knows how to get the results you want. I would definitely recommend working with her.

Miriam is a great Pilates instructor I would absolutely recommend her. I got personal training from her for almost a year it was extremely helpful for my posture and core strength. She is very knowledgeable about the body and will be able to pinpoint exactly what you need to work on to help your over well being.

I absolutely refer Miriam Drace to anyone looking for personal help in the field of Pilates especially if they are working with an injury. I had this really painful injury in my sacrum, a sprain, and pilates helped build strength in the surrounding areas to support it, lengthen my spine, and even out my posture; She gave me exercises I could do at home too. She is very attentive and has a great memory of my specific needs and most of all she is very easy to be around– I didn’t feel self-​conscious at all, I was very comfortable. She knows what she is doing and I always feel grounded when I leave the studio. She also does private Ayurveda counseling as well which is amazing.

I used to be an avid runner and hope to run my first half marathon this fall. I currently work at a 9 to 5 job where I am seated most of the day. I went to Miriam because I was having pain in my hip after my runs and wanted to improve my posture that has gotten worse from sitting at a desk. She diagnosed my alignment problem, relieved my hip pain, and my posture has dramatically improved. She gave me a program to do at home and stretches I can do at work to further my progress, and relieve stress and tension when needed. I am so glad I tried this, I feel so much better and she gave me information about my body that has been immensely helpful! She was knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with, and I definitely recommend her!
