FYI, the gym portion of Norman’s club is closing as of January 7, 2011. The chiro services will remain open. Another sad loss – the club had been open for 65 years under the same family ownership… and I had been going for 20.

I’m not a member of the health club, but for over 10 years have been going to Norman Marks’ to see Wendy, one of the owners who is a chiropractor. She’s wonderful in all ways — professionally very competent, flexible, knowledgeable, easy to schedule with and very reasonably priced. I do know that the club owners are friendlly, honest people of integrity, and they’ve created an environment that reflects that. I read another review that says it’s a great place for no b.s. workouts around good people and that fits everything I’ve ever seen there.

Just for the record, this gym is still open, but they were dum {edited for language} and let their domain’s registration expire. I went in and told *three* different people on *three* different occasions, «hey, your domain reg is about to expire, you need to renew that before some cybersquatter gets it.» Well, they don’t have a web page anymore. But the gym is still a great place for the working out. I guess the nice thing for me to do would have been to snatched up the registration myself and then given it to them. I just do not take enough initiative about being nice!

This is a great place to work out. everyone is very nice, lots or room to break a sweat and a wide variety of equipment. I love to use the Dance room or Yoga room for my workout routine. it’s mirrored on 2 walls and is big enough to share with others without getting in their way(when there is no class going on). Their membership is a deal too! you can’t beat 3 months for $ 99!

Yeah, I worked out here back when I was fortunate enough to live in the east bay. Parking here is a drag since it is metered. The staff at the front desk however, always have quarters on hand so its a minor inconcenience. There are always places to park. Two story layout so this place is roomy. The equipment is older but, everything you need to get a workout is available. I love the location too. towels are clean and $ 1. Beats 24hour.

Wendi and Norman Marks provide fantastic chiropractic services. Their knowledge and equipment is state-of-the-art and Wendi has often made concessions to fit me in her schedule. The EMT machines and Ultra-sound worked great for my lower back spasms. Ms. Marks even advised me on a purchase of my own EMT machine for use at home. Great family company and gym and competitively priced.

This is the best gym ever. I have been going there since 1998. Gold’s is garbage, 24 hour fitness is just a shame. norman’s has a very friendly family atmosphere, no loud music, everyone knows each other. It also has a sort of old school real workout feel as well, lots of freeweights and unique machines designed by norman and his mentor, Jack Lalanne. Norman and his two daughters, Wendy and Rhonda run the place. They are all extremely charming and helpful. Norman won some body building titles back in the 1940’s and 50’s. He is a great teacher, not just about lifting but also about life. he also has an amazing sense of humor. i hear Norman and Wendy are both excellent chiropracters too. In the locker rooms there are steam rooms, jacuzzis, and sauna’s. Update: Now that we live Colfax we still try to visit Norman’s whenever we can. We really miss the place, and everyone there.
