This place was soooooo bomb!!! I consider myself a burrito expert so this means a lot coming from me. I ordered the olé olé chicken burrito… A maz zing !! Will surely be coming back.

Good food in a funky part of Oakland. We were at the Stork Club for a show and popped in for a quick bite before a night of drinking and music. I had a super taco and my lady had the super burrito. Both were awesome. Great selection of mexican sodas with real sugar too! The only letdown turned out to be that there was a hole in the tortilla they made my gals burrito with. It fell apart somewhat part way through. Hopefully this was a one off with a funky tortilla cuz we enjoyed ourselves! See ya again soon Olé Olé!

Another case of misleading reviews. Came here for the first time earlier this week and boy was I disappointed after trying to fulfill a Mexican craving after being in Asia for over a month. Ordered 3 tacos: Carne Asada — Dry, dry, dry. You know, meat so dry it’s tough to chew and becomes powdery balls of granules in your mouth kid of dry. What’s sad was there was even barely a hint of natural beef flavor. Carnitas — Dry and flavorless. Carnitas wasn’t fried to moist crispness or wet. It seemed over cooked and then lightly fired to zap all of its moisture and delicious natural pork flavor. Seasonings seemed to be sparring as well. Al Pastor — This was the best of all three meats. The pork had pretty good flavoring and wasn’t overly dry like the other two. Did I mention the corn tortillas were dry too?! Like they were old and left on the stove too long. It was tough and chewy… for all three tacos. The amount of salsa I had doused in these tacos just to give them flavor and some type of moisture was embarrassing.

Good food, but questionable service. Called ahead to order two burritos. Incorrectly ordered one, called back literally 30 seconds later to correct the order(correction was for no beans) and the person was very nice and said no problem. I apologized and confirmed with her that the change was ok, and they reiterated it was not a problem. Pick up the burritos, get home, and there is a note on the«changed» burrito saying that it was too late to change because the burrito was already made. The burrito was not made by the time I called back(sure, maybe the guy making them wasn’t told in time, but I called back immediately, so the person on the phone just didn’t turn around and tell the person). Even if I didn’t catch them in time, tell me on the phone you can’t change the order so I can order something that will actually be eaten. Or tell me in the store before I walk out, so I can at the very least buy another one. Or just make the burrito again — at 10:00 on a Monday, the place was empty and there was plenty of food left which was going to get(or at least should be) thrown away at the end of the night anyway. Instead they smile at me, let me walk out and I get home with a dinner that one of the two people just can’t eat. Thanks guys.

Yassss! I’m new to Oakland but I think I found my burrito place!!! The prices are right, the veggie burritos are perfect, the quality is great & the salsa bar is kick ass(boy that orange salsa is spiiiicyyy)!!! Burritos are my weekly staple so I’m very happy I discovered this spot! Oh yea and they’re open late too — until 1a.m. & that’s pretty awesome since a lot of places don’t seem to stay open very late in Oakland

Awesome burritos! We were in the neighborhood for a show at the Stork Club. Popped in, and were happy we did. Mister the the super taco. I had the super burrito with al pastor. It was perfect. Meat was lean and flavorful. Ingredients were portioned well. My only gripe is I found once I was eating that there was a big hole in my tortilla. Like not a rip, but there was a portion of it missing. Stuck to the one under it, I assume. Didn’t make it difficult to eat, but dude, if there is a hole in a tortilla… use another one? Great selection of Mexican sodas. Will definitely come back.

Stumbled upon this spot after going to a concert at the Fox Theatre. It was the only mexican spot that was open and we were craving tacos. When we got here we realized they had carne asada fries! I can never say no to that plus it was only like $ 6?!! That’s unheard of. The food was ehh. Nothing great, the fries were the thick cut and they didn’t put enough meat or toppings. It was mostly potato. They have good prices for a mexican spot plus they’re open late. But that’s about it, food is mediocre.

Decent burrito and taco stand well-located on Telegraph near a number of watering holes. Portions are generous, everything is quite delicious, and prices are fairly inexpensive. Bonus points for being open reasonably late. The only downside is that service can be a bit perfunctory, as they don’t seem well-staffed enough to handle sudden crushes of customers, and the venue itself can look trashed pretty quickly. Nevertheless, not a bad option if you’re looking for something filling after cavorting boozily down the street.

Not the prettiest spot I’ve ever been to but the food is quality and at a great price point. Cheaper and yummier than whole foods and faster too. Vegetarians, try the yumbrella smoked tofu steak in your burrito. Delish.

Food was really good. I bought three steak burritos. The hot habanero sauce was really good and really hot. Fair prices and clean in the inside. I will make sure to get a burrito here every time I go to Oakland.

Love these guys. The staff is so friendly and always smiles back. They are pretty quick — takes less than 5 minutes to get my food even with a long line. Never ever not liked my food. Usually got a quesadilla with refried beans and jalapeños in it. Boyfriend gets chicken burrito or the street tacos and gets a few of each(chicken, asada or carnitas). I can chow down 3 chick n tacos(I would be stuffed) and he usually gets 4 – 5 but could crush 8 if he really wanted to, just cuz they are that good. They are the perfect size — FILLED with meat. salsa verde is the best. Don’t live in Oakland anymore, so I’m missing it. We used to go once a week. Minimum. Haha.

Ask me if I do it everyday I say often. This place has fresh food, nice service and on a drunk night those lights in there will really be a wake up call(in a good way)

I know this place is supposed to be a fantastic hole in the wall type place. A culinary geode. But it’s not. It sucks. It’s exactly like what it looks like; a crappy burrito place with a group of sketchy crackheads hanging around out front that serves substandard burritos. It has managed to trick the late night crowds by virtue of being open late, but when you’re not drunk, the cold, sober light of day reveals the truth. Before I give a place 1 star, I like to give it a second or third chance. I did that here. The first visit was mediocre, but people kept raving so I gave it another chance. Second visit was even worse and they managed to screw up my order. The third time, I went for a breakfast burrito to switch things up, still no good. The beans are dry, and there’s way too many of them. Disproportionate to everything else in the burrito. For the breakfast burrito, the potatoes are random large chucks dispersed throughout like so many dog turds on a backyard lawn during a bbq; every time you encounter one it’s an unpleasant, gross experience that ruins everything else. The chorizo is sparse, dry and mixed with what I can only assume are powdered eggs. If you happen to be one of the aforementioned crackheads, by all means, scrounge up some change and buy a burrito there. But if you can get $ 6.50, why not keep on saving til you get to 9 bucks and go to Southie instead? Sure it’s a bit of a walk but damned if their breakfast burrito isn’t actually worth it. This place is so bad that in my 3 trips there, I have thrown away a half eaten burrito 3 times.

Now sometimes I give a place five stars and in retrospect I was being generous, not the case here. My god, this burrito spot. I preach it like the gospel. I order the same thing every time, its that good. I’ve sampled other dishes, and they were all great, but the super shrimp burrito is fire. I’ve never encountered a burrito where you got a shrimp in every bite(and I’m from SoCal, so I’ve had a lot of shrimp burritos). I 10⁄10 recommend.

This place has been a lifesaver on those late night food runs. Honestly, it’s a vegetarian lifesaver in general. I was so excited to find a taqueria with an understanding of what vegetarian means(no lard in beans/tortillas, no chicken broth in the rice). I’ve gotten their vegetarian burrito twice and it’s been great each time. I really appreciate that they include cheese and sour cream and avocado in the burrito from the get go. Essentially you get a super burrito for the price of a regular one for being vegetarian. Another note on the avocado: they give a good amount of sliced fresh avocado rather than having guacamole. I really appreciate that, as I can be a bit touchy when there’s a lot of cilantro(got that soapy gene). Tip if you’re more of a guacamole person: they have a nice avocado green salsa that you can get from their extensive salsa bar, which when thrown on top of the avocado slices, is pretty much guacamole. I’ve also gotten their regular nachos which come with choice of beans, cheese, pico, sour cream, and avocado slices(you can get meat by upgrading). They were awesome. A really great proportion of toppings to chips(you won’t have a heap of dry chips at the end, like is common in other places). Their salsa bar is rather large, missing only a corn salsa; but they make up for it with the great variety they have. I usually get the avocado one and some jalapenos for the boyfriend. The service is speedy, and the prices are great! The only thing that docks this place is a star is the ambiance. It’s always too cold, and smells like cleaning chemicals. I always get takeout, so I’m only subjected to it for a few minutes. Another note on takeout: you can call in your order! It only takes about 5 minutes to make, so give them a call on your way over.

Found this place while going through Oakland. Very clean and they have my torts here with a choice of Aqua Frescas. Would not think this place was a place to eat. Just try it and you’ll be back!

Need quick late nigh Mexican food fix after being out in uptown? Down to your last few bucks after buying a couple rounds of $ 10 cocktails for your friends? The line to order(which moves pretty quickly) is your clue that this spot is a good bet, and it is. Great burritos, enchiladas, platos, tacos with quality ingredients made while you watch. Olé Olé Burrito Express!

In my 20 plus years of eating burritos I just had the best breakfast burrito I have ever had. The style I got was heuvos ala mexicano(there are a few options) Mix of potatoes, peppers, cheese, beans, onions. Cooked by Jose’(nice dude) to perfection. Veggies fresh, not soggy, and the eggs and the mix was perfect. Definitely will be back. PS And they are open to midnight which is awesome and very rare for the east bay.
