Pete’s Dog Behavior Training

Pete did not show up for our initial appointment. I scheduled well in advance and received an email confirmation but he didn’t show up that day and never emailed or returned my call.

Pete gave us the best advice for our two-​year-​old hyper Border Collie who always «demands» attention.
With a couple of simple corrections, she learned she would get the right kind of attention and affection… if she is calm. Even my kids think she is a different dog. We’re really grateful to Pete. Well worth the money!

Never showed up for my appointment. He didn’t bother calling or emailing to let me know. I waited around for about three hours. He finally emailed me a few days later after I emailed him asking why he didn’t show up. He claimed he emailed me to cancel the appointment due to an emergency. I never received that email and haven’t heard from him again. Very unprofessional.

Peter will come to your house and work directly with you and your dog on specific concerns. He patiently walked with me & my 5year old newly adopted dog in our neighborhood to address her tugging & behavior on leash, plus brought his dogs to work with Angel’s nervous barking when other dogs walk by. Then following her training at home, he met us at Joaquin Miller dog park to continue more training. It was like having Cesar Milan at our house. I felt more confident and knowledgable at the end of our session. Very Happy!

I cannot say enough about how our life has changed in our house since we found Pete!!! I don’t even know how to write such a perfect review we are so happy! We have two small children and I must have been off my rocker to think to get a dog from a shelter but I did and neither myself nor my husband has never had a dog so we had absolutely no idea what we were really getting ourselves into… We got a small dog and were instantly in over our heads. He was under a year old and starting to ruin our house but trying to mean well. I have never, ever thought of myself of ever, ever giving up pets no matter what but felt the thought come into my head with my kids around until Pete helped us out! Turns out our dog IS trainable after all!
Pete put everything into perspective completely reasonably and in timely manner, and my husband who was extremely frustrated now feels total calm with the dog, our little guy, and we are able to be a cohesive family again! It’s truly amazing, it really is. It just seems so simple, but you really need this help. Pete even went walking with us to work on aggression even though our dog is really sweet he gets very protective. And after, literally, one day after Peter and his help and training and practice, our dog stopped jumping up constantly so that our kids wouldn’t get scratched up so much.
We will most likely have Peter back when we can! He was extremely prompt, too! He also was very helpful through email and very quickly, which I much appreciated.
I cannot recommend Pete enough to anyone, he is THE MOST FANTASTIC TRAINER!!!

Pete did wonders with my «devil dog» Annie and most importantly, with me. He showed me what I was doing wrong and demostrated the correct responses to my dog’s troublesome behavior. We have made so much progress, thanks to Peter!

My goal is for my dog to be obedient off leash. We’d done some training but she still won’t listen when she’s off leash and sees something of interest.
I decided to get serious, and scour Unilocal for options. And there are a lot of options. Group classes, private training, dog walkers. Pete’s business interested me because he was willing to do a single consult and advise session. His reviews are so great and so sincere, that I thought that would be a good jumping off point.
Though Hayward is out of Pete’s usual range for private consultations, he agreed to come out and meet Mei Mei. He came out, spent some time getting to know her and me, walked around the neighborhood, giving me advice and tips the whole time.
As a big advocate of dog exercise, he explained to me that it would be harder for me to get her to focus on our training sessions while she has so much pent up energy. Sure, I walk her daily, but not enough. Together we came up with ideas for moving forward.
I hired a dog walker to take Mei on much longer walks than I’m able do during the busy weekdays. And, following one of Pete’s many great tidbits, I put a backpack on her weighted down a bit, so that she uses more energy on her walks. Her walking behavior improved tremendously just with that little modification. Then I started working with her on her recall after she’s wound down a little.
She’s still not perfect, but she’s much better and getting better every day. I’m confident that we will both get where we need to be in her training. I’ve already had some impressive triumphs with her recall at the dog park, the most distracting place ever.
But here’s the deal with Pete, which is what you really need to know. Pete cares about your dog. He is in this business because he wants every dog to lead a happy and healthy life. Following our single session, Pete has followed up with emails checking in, and offering further advice after having thought more about Mei Mei. You really can’t get more bang for your buck than meeting Pete.

Pete is fabulous with all kinds of animals, especially dogs. His training though, is really the owners!

I have a 7 year old Koon Hound/​Rott mix named Moglie who has fear aggression. I’ve been with many trainers and Peter is by far the most patient and wonderful teacher for my dog and myself. He really understands what dogs are thinking. It’s almost like being trained by Cesar Milan himself (NO JOKE!).
I highly recommend Peter for any Dog (and human) training :-).

Peter knows what a dog is thinking and can redirect negative behavior before it happens. He thinks like a dog. Strong advocate for plenty of exercise makes for good canine citizenship.
