This place is a hole in the wall and is probably one of the best phở ga in the Bay Area! The broth is so flavorful and the chicken is so juicy! But what makes this place stands out compared to other phở places is the ginger scallion dipping sauce for the chicken, it is bomb! The only things that I dislike about this place is the cleanliness, and it is cash only and it’s hard to find parking.

The chicken was really good and the ginger sauce was awesome. The phở was perfect for a cold day in Oakland.

I’m thrilled to have found this place. The chicken phở(southern style) tasted great. It’s a pretty big space which meant the wait time was pretty fast. Definitely coming back!

Best chicken noodle place in the bay area hands down! The chicken is always fresh and never has that funky smell. The soup and noodles always come out piping hot and I always end up burning my tongue because I cant wait to dive in! They have a variety of drinks both fresh and canned, and they have tea, everything you need to quench your thirst or to help cure that hangover. Most importantly you NEED the ginger/scallion oil sauce aka SMACKSAUCE! My husband likes to pour the whole thing into his soup but I prefer to have it on the side so I can dip every piece of chicken into it and get that flavor with every bite. There’s no place like this and even though I now live in San Leandro I still come here for their phở ga. Warning this is a cash only establishment and they close on Mondays.

I use to always come here with my family on the weekends when I was younger. I’ve always remembered it as being super tasty and when If I could desribe it, it would be «The best phở Ga in the bay» BUT The soup have gotten so much more saltier it makes me gaggggg. I have to pour hot water into my soup just to dilute it. The ginger sauce is also extremely salty. If you like things that are more on the flavorful side, this is the place for you for phở ga! Parking is pretty difficult, and their service is a meeeehh.

Love the chicken here! The quality of their meat is very tender. The best part is the ginger/green onion sauce they give you. You can order half or whole chicken and a side of noodles or rice. I’ve been here a few times & there’s never been a wait.

This place isn’t the cleanest, but I must say, they have the most delicious hangover soup ever! Soup is not that flavorful unless you add the green sauce. I always order chicken breast with ho fun noodles and extra bean sprout on the side. Also, it’s not too heavy so if you’re looking for something light and fast. This is the place to go. P. s. parking is a b*tch here

The chicken is good, but the noodles is too little! if you are hungry, one bowl is not enough for you. one more thing-cash only !

Good phở ga! I ordered the chicken on the bone as opposed to shredded– seems juicer this way, although you tend to get some bone shards in your mouth which sucks. The price you pay for good phở ga! I thought the broth was not too salty, not too bland, but just right. Only thing was the msg started kicking in a little bit at the end. The ginger dipping sauce is always the best. Would come back to get the same thing or to just order the chicken.

Love this place. I will order the white fat noodles with the shredded chicken on the side. Sometimes I will order the mein. the skinny noodles. I love the ginger dipping sauce they give you on the side! :)

Reasonable prices, good phuuuuuuuuuu ga, and quick service. This is the perfect food for a chilly day or after a tour of all the local East Bay breweries. Stick to the basics and go for their specialty which is phuuuu ga. Their pretty stingy with the ginger sauce(which is pretty damn tasty) so save yourself some time and ask for a couple extra when you place your order.

One of the best spots for phở ga! IMO I think this place is better than Turtle Tower, but that’s like comparing apples to oranges. Don’t let its looks deter you. Restaurant is usually packed, but I’ve never had to wait for a table.

The best Chicken noodles soups and Vietnamese coffees, hands down. Reasonable price and nice services there. I ordered two sauces every time I go there. Highly Recommend for friends and family.

The Phở Ga here is legit. Nice and light broth and generous portions of chicken with the bone attached. You have a choice of wide noodles or egg noodles. Both are good in their own respect.(Chicken + noodles + flavorful broth) * ginger and green onion sauce = a great meal! The service is quick as you would expect from a Phở restaurant and the price is very reasonable. Definitely going back here to satisfy my cravings for an alternative chicken noodle soup.

I’ve been coming here for years and I’ve always only ordered the ho fun with chicken on the side. The chicken seriously melts in your mouth, it’s the best chicken in town. Also the best ginger/scallion dipping sauce! I remember when they used to fill up the sauce dish with the ginger/scallion, but now it’s only a small spoon worth. However if you ask them for more, they will gladly give it to you. I love how the bean sprouts that come with the noodles are always precooked. Just on food alone is always 5 stars! If you come here and ordered something other than the chicken noodles, then you’re missing out… I minused a star because the place could definitely be cleaner.

The original Phở Ga «Chicken Phở». They have this green sauce that is out of this world. The green sauce used for chicken dipping. You can order shredded chicken with your Phở or half cut chicken on a place. This place is dark and need cleaning but it’s been that way and client don’t care. I know a few won’t eat here because of old furniture but the regulars comes for the food.

After bookmarking this place for few months, we finally got the opportunity to try this place out. After all, it is Christmas Day and most places are close so my son and I decided to hit up this spot. My son ordered the large phở ga and I just went with a half order of their chicken and a side of rice. The chicken is very moist and juicy… love it! The ginger onion sauce is also very good, especially coming from someone who tries to avoid onions at all cost. Although their broth isn’t as tasty as one would expect being that they boil so much chicken in one day. I decided to order an extra half order of chicken to take home as well, hopefully my brother will like his chicken his much as I did. The restaurant is your average Vietnamese phở house. Not the cleanest, but you kind of have to eat with a blind eye when enjoying homemade type food in Oakland. I would definitely come back… CASHONLY!

They say the best food is often at the hole in the wall places. While this is not quite that, it’s pretty close. Don’t use the bathroom unless you really have to! It probably can’t hurt to clean your utensils with hot tea either(what true Asian doesn’t do that?) THAT being said — PHOGA is delicious: D That’s the only thing I’ve had here and seems to be what 90% of the customers come here for as well. They have a choice of chicken with the bone or shredded. You also pick the noodles you want. I usually get shredded chicken with ho fun and I ask for extra ginger onion dipping sauce. I come here pretty regularly with friends and family. I learned they open at 7am which is great for a quick breakfast before work or school. Closed MONDAYS and CASHONLY!!!

3.5 The green ginger sauce is good. The chicken noodle is good but not great. It was slightly sweet which I was not a fan of. Yes this place is dingy, but that is usually what is expected from these kinds of establishments.
