Pizza Matador

So I’ve now been ordering about every week, and I LOVE this pizza. I pre-​order, leave a note about delivery times, and it works perfectly. Still delish, still easy, a total win for the whole family. My favorite is the cauliflower, leek, comte pizza, and my kids go crazy for the (less expensive) «kid pie».

Okaaay! YUM FACTOR 100%, Tired of same old same old? Pizza matador takes you away from what we usually get up here! I can count that there will be amazing choices, and fresh ingredients. WITH, the added bonus of having it politely wrapped in paper, with its own calling card.

I can’t say one negative thing about Pizza Matador. My neighbor mentioned them when we were chatting about the lack of pizza delivered in East Oakland. Let me just say, I’m never ordering from another pizza when the craving hits. The process online is quick and easy, the delivery was super fast, the pizza is wrapped beautifully, and most importantly… the quality of ingredients, wow!!! By far the best pizza I’ve ever had delivered!!! Sooooooo excited and happy to have this business in East Oakland! Tell your friends!!!

What an outstanding small business. Just tried our first order — will not be our last for sure! Everything from order to finishing the last crumb was easy, delightful and delicious. The reviewer who mentioned that this pizza is similar to Arizmendi/​Cheese Board is right — just a little thicker crust, smaller and some super tasty meat choices :-) Highly recommended!

Love everything about Matador Pizza! We ordered every kind and they were all delicious! Ordering is so easy and the 20 minute window delivery makes it so convienient!!! The packaging is beautiful too!!! Lookung forward to many more delicious pizza partys in 2016!

These guys have the best pizza by far… And it’s delivered to my door! I am a super busy single mom and love to chill sometimes and not cook! The three day fermented crust is amazing and Chris and Chris come up with some interesting mouthwatering flavor combinations! Tonight, I got the cauliflower, mushroom, leek pizza for myself and the cheese for the kids! Yum! Highly recommend this pizza… And I don’t say that lightly, as I am a chef! Great job guys! Keep it up!

A nicely dressed, friendly person rings your doorbell and hands you a package neatly wrapped in kraft paper and tied with string. If only all pizzas were treated like precious gifts.
How it works:
1. Order your partially baked 12″ pizzas online. If you order before 2 pm, you have a bigger selection. Order after 2 and you get two choices. One 12″ pizza is enough for two hungry people. Sometimes we get two just for more selection.
2. You set the time frame for delivery From 4 p.m. to close.
3. You get your pizzas delivered to you on time and then you pop them in a 450 degree oven for your fresh out of the oven experience. No soggy crap that has been sitting in a delivery guy’s bag for the last hour.
We have ordered from these guys about five times (two days in a row, one week) and we couldn’t be happier. They make a really good cheese pizza. For me, that is a measuring stick for a good pizza place. Since it’s simple, you can’t hide any defects in sauce, cheese, or crust with the other toppings. The pepperoni is also delicious because it’s not so insanely salty. We’ve also tried the bacon and arugula and the one with chorizo, Spanish olives, red peppers, manchego, and romanesco sauce. All were tasty.
When you order «on demand» at 4 and on, they can sometimes actually deliver your pizza in 10 minutes. Remember to preheat your oven to 450 degrees to finish baking.
To the owners:
I REALLY hope you guys keep up your HIGH quality and fair prices. I have seen other delivery places over extend themselves and their quality and service went down. I don’t order from those places anymore. You will have a customer for many years if you keep it real!

Pizza Matador is truly incredible.
The balance of crust to ingredients is perfection and the crust is out of this world.
I had to default to the bacon, arugula, pepper jack, tomato sauce after they sold out of my first choice, apple, walnut, blue cheese, balsamic, arugula.
Yeah, foo foo pizza. Artisanal or what not.
Whatever…it’s gosh darn ecstasy in your mouth.
An almost lurid amount of cheese that you could opt to reduce but why?
A ¹⁄₈^th slice fits in your hand just right and folds beautifully.
The middle has a thin crust that is both flaky and sturdy enough to hold the very generous and perfectly blended toppings.
The crust rolls out to a heavenly (I don’t believe in gods but this stuff could sway me) bone.
We decided to control ourselves and save a slice for fear of it ending too soon.
Especially considering how difficult it appears it will be to procure another.
Fresh out of the oven or room temp two hours later this pie is to die for.
The price is extremely fair and it’s packaged very nicely.
Sadly, I did not check their delivery area yet my order went through anyway.
They were very kind to deliver anyway but informed me they could not do it again.
With a promise of adding to their delivery area in the future.
Yet, now I have a dilemma.
I simply MUST have more!!!
I figure I can drive to a gas station in their delivery zone and have them deliver to my car?
Since I am sure I can’t find affordable housing in their designated delivery zone as of now I can only hope that they will expand their delivery area soon.
Certainly once Über moves into my area they will want that customer base so why not get used to the area sooner ;)

If you’re in their delivery area this is the absolute best pizza around.

Superb pizza. Partial bake, fresh from your own oven. The ingredients are locally sourced. Every pizza is expertly put together with love and care, and it shows. You can pre-​order before 2PM and choose from a wide variety of gourmet options, or order on demand from 1 – 2 pizzas of the day, with super quick and friendly delivery from the business owners themselves. This is our weekly go-​to pizza now. I order an extra pie for the freezer and it works great for a quick and easy dinner or lunch. Just pop into the oven and it’s fantastic! Ordering online is super easy. The website is simple and easy to navigate.

We found Matador Pizza from a posting on a pole in the neighborhood. We LOVE them, and eat once a week. Many things to like. Their pizza is delicious, on par, if not better, than Cheeseboard and Arizmendi. Crust is thin, not too thin, and has a certain something that is hard to pinpoint but really really good. They have a number of selections if you order before 2 pm. You’re able to choose a time frame for delivery, and you can ask them to leave in the location of your choice. Selections more limited after 2 pm, and yes, if you do on-​demand after 2 pm, it really does arrive in 15 minutes! Do follow their directions for heating so you have the best experience.
Their wrapping is oh so fantastic. Just a cardboard platform, paper wrap, and a string. Love not having to hassle with the cardboard pizza box.

Love the pizza. Ordering online on a mobile device was easy and fast. The pizza arrived in about 10 minutes. My son said it was the best pizza ever!

Yum! Super fast to deliver, really great variety of toppings, and a nice change from the typical (which I also love) thin-​crust, heavy-​cheese pizzas that are popular around these parts. The crust is a little chewier and denser than Slicer or Lanesplitter but not super-​thick like at Cybelle’s. Oh, and the wrapping is lovely :)
Even my particular young kids like *more* than the plain cheese pizza, which is itself great.

Thank you, Matador for filling the pizza void we have in Oakland! It seems that we have to choose between crispy gourmet pizza and the mass produced Pizza Hutish variety. And any pie that is somewhere in the middle of the chasm will cost you $ 35-​$ 40!

I fed 13 people for $ 130. 7 pizzas for $ 130. It was so easy to order. It arrived right on time. There was no unnecessary packaging. I followed the instructions and it cooked in 7 minutes. Even better, it was so good!!! The fig, prosciutto, arugula was a favorite, but all were devoured gleefully.
Choose Pizza Matador. You won’t regret it.

Seriously excellent! I’d just come back from an east coast work trip. Literally. I emailed at 6:57pm, pizza was at my door by 7:10pm and we were eating before 7:20pm. We had the chicken, artichokes & sun dried tomatoes. And what topped it off was the delivery guy; genuinely happy about the pizza. This. Place. Rocks!

Ordered the mushroom pizza with cauliflower, cheddar, and flavored with garlic. My grandson exclaimed, «cauliflower???» and he did later admit that it tasted really good. Most delicious was the bite into a cushy mushroom, tasting of roasted garlic along with the cheese and yummy crust. Though not on the menu currently, the owners said this pizza would be offered every so often. Anyone who likes roasted garlic will like this one!

Impressed. First, delivery came in like 3 minutes! No, really… I clicked the order, a confirmation email came, followed by another email saying pizza was on its way. I looked up and a car was pulling up out front. Not sure how they do it … telepathy, government surveillance, drones? Not sure. But, the pizza. It’s really good. I’d compare it to cheeseboard /​arizmendi, though probably a bit smaller in size. The toppings are really good/​flavorful (side note: I love green olives on pizza, yet rarely find them as an option on bay area pizza, and so really glad to see them on this and at least one other of their pizzas). The crust is thin, a bit chewy, but good. Really, no complaints. Is it the best pizza I’ve ever had? No. Is it the best delivery pizza I’ve ever had? Yes. For $ 19, no delivery charge, and SUPER FAST delivery, you can’t go wrong. Just make sure you fire up your oven BEFORE placing your order!

Thank you to my neighbor, Corey, for turning me on to this pizza. It is SOOOOOOOOOOO good! It’s fresh, tasty and has a great flavor combination. The pizza I am eating has broccolini and other yummy things. It also has this wonderful fresh taste of something… maybe lemon zest… not sure but it is YUMMY!!!
Anyway, try it… just do it… you won’t be sorry!

Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m slightly obsessed with this service. Fresh, artisanal par-​baked pizzas delivered to my door in beautiful packaging. I’ve ordered EVERY night for the past 3 nights. Found out about Pizza Matador from my neighbor and am so thankful for her recommendation.
Headline that you need to know, the crust is the BEST EVER. Each night is a different pie on that fabu crust… let’s break it down:
Night one:
Asparagus and arugula pizza — yum, yum — my vegetarian daughter (who doesn’t eat vegetables, don’t ask) gobbled it up. The flavor pairings on this was fantastic.
Night two:
Baby broccoli and spinach with chevre — I served it to a group of HS parents as my pot-​luck contribution. The crowd raved and claimed (as I do) that the crust is the best! It had just this hint of sweetness that I still can’t figure out where it came from, but it was so delish.
Night three:
Chorizo, olives, and manchego — I *think* this pie must be where they came up with their name. It is about the best pie I’ve had in, oh I don’t know… forever! Really great combo of ingredients make this a winner. Seriously delish.
I really can’t pick a favorite from the three above, but know this I will be back.
What will I do until Wednesday when they open again?
