Went to Quality Tech Auto Repair on a referral from a friend formerly in law enforcement. Evidently, a lot of law enforcement types bring their personal vehicles to Bruce of Quality Tech. That little fact sold me on coming here.
Quality Tech is very professional. They were open and ready for us as promised. Our car was finished as promised and the price for repairs seemed right. We spoke to Bruce himself when we picked up our car and he was very personable, accommodating, and informative.

Bruce, the owner is the best. He’s very knowledgeable and really an honest genuine person. You can trust your car or truck under his care. I have a small plumbing business and we get prompt service as expedient as possible. Guarantees his work and warranties the parts if they fail within a reasonable amount of time. His shop takes care of our personal car as well. I wouldn’t go any other place for my auto repair needs. They do it all, from towing, auto repairs/​replacement, and now even tire replacement

If I ever live in Oakland/​East Bay, this is where I would bring my car for maintenance/​repair. Quality Tech is one of the AAA approved repair shops. The owner, Bruce, delivers prompt service and he is very knowledgeable.
He will call you back to give you status update, like he says he will. His words are reliable and he will not take advantage of those of us who are not at all familiar with car mechanism.

Helpful and friendly staff. I needed an axle replaced and they did so quickly and effectively. I would definitely go back.

I’m making this review on behalf of my mother, who doesn’t know how to use Unilocal.But what they tried to pull on my mom is inexcusable and must be known to everybody thinking about going to this place.
My mom’s car needed the fuel pump in her Mercedes replaced, so she took it here. After 4 days, she came back, and it was replaced! HOWEVER, she looked at her odometer after the repair, and it was broken with only dashes showing.
So, my mother brings up how the odometer was broken with Bruce, the manager. Bruce claims that it came in like that! This is RIDICULOUS of course, my mom knows better and had noted the mileage prior to bringing it in on the (100% functional) odometer. Who do these guys think they’re kidding? Who is going to not remember that their odometer was working?
Anyway, after having to argue with them just to fix something that THEY BROKE, they put it back to a functional state. GUESS WHAT, THE CAR WAS DRIVEN FOR 34 MILES BY THEM. Is that why it took 4 days to finish? So they could replace the fuel pump in 1 day and then joyride it for the next 3? Bruce could have AT LEAST filled up the gas tank (which he didn’t even reimburse her for).
How do dishonest places like this even stay in business?
Just stay away from here and save yourself from having to deal with this shadiness. If you dare go here, prepare yourself for a headache.

UPDATE:
So the battery was not something that Quality Tech caused, but WOW it is unbelievable that they missed the cause of the problem when they went over and my van and found issues from bumper to bumper. This was a fairly obvious one — the only obvious problem, actually.
The alternator and serpentine belt were bad, which explains the one weird sound the engine made. It was only really bad when the heater was on, but it was definitely audible all the time because now that its been replaced, its so quiet. The alternator was overcharging the battery causing it to bubble up and leak. I had this in mind as a possible cause from research and talking to gear head friends. And it totally makes sense. QT said I needed a new battery solely because the cap was missing and the only way to get a cap was to get a new battery. Or you take one off an old battery like my buddy at MC radiators did for me just to be nice. The overpriced battery he wanted to sell me would have been a waste of money.
Also had two different shops that I went to after QT confirmed that they exaggerated some of problems, like needing front brakes and rotors ASAP. My front rotors are fine and my pads are at 30%. Not good, but Bruce feigned concern for my safety and said that I shouldn’t be driving it. Funny — for breaks so terrible, they still stop on a dime and make zero noise. I’ll be finding a kick ass break shop for those soon.
Had the electrical done at Pacific Auto Electric on E.12^th and 10^th Ave. — fantastic service! And his parts were priced considerably less than what I would have gotten them for, where as other people mark their parts up more than they need to.

I’ve been really well taken care of by the mechanics at Quality Tech. I’m particular, the owner Bruce has gone out of his way to make sure that my car is safe. It’s old, but for many reasons, I’m not replacing it yet.
They do their due diligence every time. Recommendations are forthcoming, but there’s no pressure to take care of unnecessary extras.
I’ve been taking my car to this shop regularly for over a decade. Rates are market appropriate, and more often than not they discount the work.
I feel very comfortable recommending Quality Tech to you.

These guys were super sweet and helpful when our car broke down on the freeway during a road trip to Oregon to visit our dad. The struts of our old car (’99 Toyota) were all messed up, and the entire frame of the car had dropped down onto the tires. Anyway, they diagnosed the problem within a few minutes and explained it to us in detail, they ordered the parts, which arrived within a half hour, and they fixed it by the end of the day, because we are broke college students and couldn’t really afford a hotel. Bruce apparently has three kids, so he might’ve been pretty sympathetic to our situation and he seemed genuinely concerned about our welfare. Anyway, they were all delightful and I’d recommend this company to anybody and everybody.

A+ service
Bruce and his team provided excellent care for my car recently when the alternator failed. The situation involved a breakdown on a freeway on-​ramp in heavy afternoon traffic, as well as multiple problems with the electrical system.
QualityTech repaired my car within a day. The mechanic, Carlos, explained the problems clearly and patiently, showed me the replaced parts, answered my questions, and advised on how to avoid problems with the electrical system in the future. Even the towing crew were wonderful. Bruce called to make sure I got home safely when I left my car for repair.
Every person associated with Quality Tech provided excellent service – the mechanics, towing crew, the office, Bruce himself – all were professional, hardworking, and helpful.

Very good shop, fair prices and Bruce the Boss is genuine about his work and advice on dealing with older cars. I highly recommend this place!

I’m still reserving final judgment, but so far so good. I’ve had two repairs done here and have been completely happy with the pricing and service. I had a problem with one of the installs and they didn’t ask twice about fixing it for free. The only down-​side is the location… not really near anything…

I trust them, they usually tell me the priorities and things that can wait, and understand if I choose not to have work done. Bruce is really nice and cheerful, and tries to be flexible with leaving car at shop after hours. The rest of the staff is really great too!

Thank you Bruce and Crew for all your hard work and an affordable price. You guys are so awesome. Thank you Bruce for calling to make sure I got home. This was a highly recommended place and I will definitely be bring my cars back for more work. You guys are outstanding and the service was by far the best!!!

If a Toyota 3VZE engine is not assembled properly with quality and dependable parts, they are prone to head gasket failures. So I naturally wanted to locate a knowledgeable, trustworthy, and friendly mechanic to handle my engine rebuild. I asked some coworkers and almost all of them mentioned that Bruce is the man to go see. I went to see Bruce and told him that I needed a fully rebuilt 3VZE engine dropped in my Toyota 4×4 truck. I was glad that he knew about the 3VZE and its quirks and assured me that I’d be good to go after their work is done. Bruce and his crew made it happen and made it happen FAST. I was expecting to be without my rig for weeks but they amazingly got it done in just under one week! I had them do my engine, the cooling system, my clutch + a once over on my drive-​train to make sure my rig would be trail-​worthy. After all, I bought and have been rebuilding this rig to do some 4 wheelin’. I’ve been on two 4 wheelin’ trips since then and my rig kicks butt thanks to Bruce and his crew. I was expecting to pay an arm, leg, and one of my family jewels but that wasn’t the case. The price he charged was half what other shops quoted me! Thanks Bruce and company!

Finally a place I feel I can trust 100%.
I went here for a 2^nd opinion on some expensive repairs — their quote was ¹⁄₃ the price of the dealership. Since then, I come here for everything and their prices and assessments are great every time.
They often tell you that something needs to be done, but not for another 6 months or a year.
Can I give Bruce 6 stars?

Great place to go for guidance. Bruce looked at my car for free, helped me talk to the dealership to see if it would be under warranty, and helped me get my car there. He saved me untold thousands of dollars by being honest and upfront with me instead of taking advantage of my ignorance. Definitely going back there for my auto repair and advice in the future.

Um, ya, NEVER going anywhere else for service! Bruce runs a tight ship, he’s entirely professional, and gives me the best rates around, plus he is a total gentleman. Once I was early, waiting for my car, there was a chair in the office but I felt like being outside. So I was crouched outside the garage, and Bruce brought me the chair from inside the office. Customer service! I don’t know the name of the woman who does the paper work, but she is really nice, too. They do great work and the best prices and they don’t try to make you pay for uneccesary things. As a woman, I have to be super aware of mechanics not ripping me off. Believe me, it happens a lot. Small shop but great shop.

I have had a few services performed at Quality Tech and so far so good. It is hard to find a ‘good’ mechanic within the Bay Area and Bruce and his specialists are great.
They provided a diagnostic at a reasonable price in comparison to other mechanics and auto repair locations. I used them as a 2^nd opinion.
The other services are fairly new but no problems yet.
I definitely recommend them and yes I am a fan.

I’ve used quality Tech Automotive a number of times — all very satisfactory. I’ve had A/​C compressors installed, Brakes, Tune-​ups, smog tests, etc. — again all very cost effective and satisfactory.
One of the vehicles was a Mercedes 500 SL that needed a new A/​C compressor. Mercedes cost was to be $ 3700. Quality Tech’s cost was $ 1800 for the exact same compressor.
These guys are very competent and very customer service oriented. It’s good to have a place you can trust and go to when needed. Give them a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Quality Tech Automotive does solid work and values their customers. It’s a place you’d probably pass up without a second thought. Off of International, there are a million places to take your car but stop by and get a consult for your more important work. They’ve got a contract with Oakland PD. I’ve seen crown vics in there. That’s gotta count for something because as we all know, cop cars are in tip top shape to bust you for going 80 on the 880.
I recently took my old faithful there for its 10^th birthday for a brake job (both), all 4 tires, oil change, transmission fluid, strut, belt, smog check, gasket and a few other minor things. Nuts right? Right. My car is aging. Anyway, they gave me the best price around and did it in 1.5 days b/​c I told them I needed the car ASAP.
I say go there for your larger jobs because you can get your smog check or oil change cheaper elsewhere with a coupon in the mail. But these guys take great care and do good work. They followed up with the work done on my car and had me bring it in to check on how things were.
BRUCE is your man and he seems a bit cold but it’s just his dry sense of humor… told him my car veers right when i drive fast he said «slow down» without a smile. But he takes his work seriously. My dad’s known him for more than 20 years and never had a problem once or done some shotty or unnecessary job. He’s also co-​owner of a body shop a few blocks down worth checking out as well. Check it out, get a consult, can’t hurt!
