I’ve used Reed before for my business. Just wish i could get same-​day service!

They’ve rekeyed a security gate at our old house and also worked on locks at our new house. They’re always friendly and professional and answer all my questions (no matter how dumb my questions are).

We have been working on replacing a camera in our office for over one month. The only responses I have received are «sorry we have been busy» and «someone from our office will contact you to schedule» Does it really take this long? We actually had additional work set in the future but will not be moving forward due to the lack of follow through or communication.

I’d give zero stars but they did take my phone calls. I explained several times in Unilocal email and over the phone for which work I needed an estimate. After finally getting an appointment and taking the day off from work for the appointment, I received a call the day of the appointment telling me that they don’t do the work I was requesting. WTH??? Why didn’t you tell me this when I emailed, called, and scheduled an appointment?
In fewer words, «they suck.»

To be a woman and often be taken advantage of is an awful feeling. It has made me steer away from getting things fixed when needed. Today my step father told me about Reeds Brothers. My Lexus car key broke into pieces, I tried tape and all kinds of other remedies and everything was failing. It was Friday at 4pm and I called Reeds, they told me to come in. I went in anticipating paying about $ 150-​$ 200 for my car key being that the dealership said $ 300. The Representative at Reeds looked at my key and told me $ 70, already this was sounding better. Next he came back and said $ 25 (are you kidding yessss)… When it was all said and done I became the free customer of the day. Thanks Reeds… I woulda paid anything… Thanks for not taking advantage of me.

They installed a security gate at our complex and it malfunctions daily. For example, it won’t open and we can’t leave, or it stays open all night. The property owners have called several times to address this and it continues to be an issue. The other day I was leaving to work and it didn’t open. Took 10 mins for the gate to finally open. I’m literally sitting here in my car ticked off as I write this because the gate won’t open. What if this was an emergency? This is unsafe and an inconvenient. Now my roommate and I have to discuss contingency plans «just in case» it doesn’t open. Not acceptable.

I have learned that you have to be careful when calling some of these lock companies. After having a bad experience a couple months back, my friend recommended this company after we got locked out of the house. Randy was our point of contact and he had amazing communication and was very friendly. He called to give us traffic updates and we ended up finding a key to get us back in the house. We didn’t end up needing their service but from the quick snapshot that I got from them, they are trustworthy. I would recommend them to my friends and family.

I think this is a very reputable company as everyone has given them stellar reviews. although an hour after we had reed bothers install 3 high security locks in our house, two of their locks were bumped and someone stole thousands of dollars worth of music equipment. The equipment was stored in a closet that the installation agent was left alone with for an hour while he installed the closet lock. I don’t think reed brothers had anything to do with this except i didn’t get a great feeling from their installation specialist as he could have very well tipped someone off about where our expensive equipment was stored and later been paid the worth of the goods taken. I understand that I don’t know 100% that it was the lock specialist but what i do know is that the robber looked like he knew exactly where to go. It was creepy because whoever broke in was going for one thing and it was in the hidden closet. Nothing else was touched but the closet was left completely ransacked. We were one day away from having our alarm system installed. I think the installation specialist heard my roommate and I talking about our schedule and knew exactly when we were leaving and coming home. Reed brothers were not helpful in any way to discount new locks. I called 3 times and a woman kept saying she would have her boss call me to discuss the matter and i never heard back from them. Now i am stuck with two broken expensive locks and i never want them in my house again!

This morning I posted a review regarding some business matters with this company that apparently legal counsel mis-​advised me on. There has been a lot of «back & forth» servings that became confusing and distressful. Please disregard my previous review.
Although my gate is really not working consistently, I am not going to comment about the product. Time will tell. But the legal matters that I was served with got resolved today and that is all that concerns me at this time.

Rod was SUPER kind and helped me get a key made for my daughter that fits the glove box in our car.
I had paid $ 200 to get a key to our car made for her birthday at Oakland VW cause she just got her license and I knew it would make her happy but the peeps at the VW dealership did not disclose that my $ 200 key wouldn’t open the locked glove box. What?! We USE the glove box to LOCK things in it.
I was so upset but then called Reed’s and they were able to make a key specifically for the glove box of our car for $ 25.
Walked out feeling SO relieved and happy.
Based on my experience, I highly recommend calling this business first for all key related issues.
They even have ball chains so I picked up a few feet of that.

I purchased a $ 342.(not including tax) home security system kit from Reed Brothers Security, Telegraph Ave, Oakland, Ca on 10/​30/​2015. I spoke to the sales woman at the time of sale about not being sure but I decided to purchase with the option of returning the unit if untouched by me especially «if it was within a few days» (as per sales woman).
I went home and found the exact same system on line for $ 175. less! than the Reed unit. I decided to return Reed system on the following Monday. At that point I was advised of a TWENTY FIVE PERCENT RESTOCKING FEE! which the sales woman HAD FAILED TO MENTION when we spoke of me retuning the unit during the purchase process. If I had known that I would not have made the purchase.
I asked to speak with the owner, however she went and talked to him herself. He did not come speak with me but sent the message with her that there could be no exception to the rule. I left with the product, very unhappy with this unfair treatment. The following day I called back to speak with the gentleman who I had spoken to on the phone the day before visiting the store and asked him if he could intercede. He said he’d talk to the owner. He called today to say that there were no exceptions even though I was not informed of this huge restock fee and that the owner offered that I pay would a 15% restock fee which would amount to over 51 bucks which was also truly unacceptable to me.
In the meantime my experienced (40 years)) electrician thinks this is a total rip off. I am retired, just got burglarized and now am being ripped off again. Very unhappy about this place and their owners unfair decision. There should be NO «restocking» fee in this case. Very unhappy.

I just called this guys to come and open a safe in my office. A woman answered, I explained the situation, she put me on hold. 5 min later a man answer, I explain the situation again, he says «ok» and put me on hold again. I wait for 10 min and than the same lady answer like I am a new caller that wasn’t just on hold for 10 min. I told her «someone just put me on hold». She ask «who», I said «I don’t know, I need someone to come and open a safe». She answers «we don’t have anyone who can help you today «
WTF? Can’t you just tell me that from the beginning?

I want to give a shout out to Ravi and Leah. Reed brothers did a class at Cole Hardware on College Ave in Oakland that I missed. It was on «door hardening». Between them both, Ravi and Leah basically redid the class for me at Reed Brothers. Tons of great information. Both are really professional, friendly, and know their stuff
Also, we have an old mailbox for our 4-​plex. We needed to install locks on each of the tenant’s boxes. Because it’s an old mail box, no locks we could buy would secure properly. Ravi recommended I drill holes in the doors and use «pop rivets» to fasten the locks into place. I didn’t even know what a pop rivet was until he told me about them. Turns out it was the perfect, very inexpensive solution. We didn’t need to buy a brand new mailbox that would have required cutting a bigger hole into the stucco, costing us a lot of money. Plus, I was able to do it myself.

You want GREAT service and quality cometrue professionals at the craft of locksmithing and security, Leya help me get the right lock a commercial grade lock for my apartment building .
Then I tryed to install it and had problems it was after the shop closed but within 30min the 24hr technician showed up my door completed the installation interest charge me a minimal fee did not try to rip me off actually gave me a great deal .
I will only use Reed Brothers. Thank you Randy and Leya

I feel that good employees make for a good business. Eli Omer and Antonio Anabo were personable and professional.
I had them install security bars on a few windows. They both went extra steps to make sure I was more than satisfied with their services. Thanks again Eli and Antonio.

This place is ridiculous. It is utterly disorganized, and mostly unfriendly and unsympathetic to the customers waiting to be helped (except for one lone worker who was friendly, but also did not seem to know what was going on).
It took me about 40 minutes to get keys copied here, and when I got home two of the six didn’t work. Cue a repeat of the nearly fruitless attempt to get helped when we went back to get the keys re-​copied. The only good thing I can say is that they did fix it, and the second set worked.

Just needed to get a key copied and was so sad to see that today was the one day a year they do inventory (store closed).
The employees saw me anyways and welcomed me in. Had my keys copied in no time and only friendliness the whole time, even though I could tell they were very busy.

On Friday night at 11 pm, I was heading out to my bf’s apt. The deadbolt locked, but the key kept turning, making 360 degree rotations. My apt was locked but i couldn’t unlock the dead bolt. So I called Reed Brothers Security’s ²⁴⁄₇ hotline — a representative picked up immediately and transferred me to the on call locksmith. The on call locksmith was the man, Randy Reed himself!
Randy arrived in less than 20 minutes. He was gracious, friendly, and explained to me the mechanism behind the lock, and what caused the issue. I was back in my apt in less than an hour. Watching Randy drill out the screws for the broken deadbolt was pretty cool :)
