Sophia is wonderful! She helped me to gain confidence when singing in group settings such as church and even around my family. I was always the person who«couldn’t sing.» I never participated in a choir or had voice training in the past so I decided to tackle my insecurity by working with her privately. Of course she has a beautiful voice but I was impressed with her teaching ability most of all. She was excellent at explaining the breathing process and taught me exercises which helped me to quickly begin to hear improvement in my singing. Within just a few sessions I abandoned my feelings of inadequacy and began to feel comfortable singing aloud with everyone else.

Today was my first day. Sophie really help me understand what it means to hit the correct note. I like the constructive criticism she gave me! Looking forward to the next session.

I’m only 2 lessons in, but I’m already seeing results! Searching for a good vocal coach within my budget was proving to be a difficult endeavor but I found Sophia through Unilocal and started lessons only 2 days after I originally reached out to her! Serious points just for the prompt response and scheduling. She took time to learn about me, my vocal experience, and my goals going forward. This is my first time taking vocal lessons, and previously I had a bit of a misconception that all vocal teachers would try to get you to warble and belt opera. Despite the fact that she’s classically trained, she couldn’t be more versatile. Her understanding of anatomy and the physical structure of vocal work is really impressive. She focuses on my specific needs as a songwriter, with the realization that I’m often singing behind a guitar. She pays careful attention to detail, and she makes sure you do too! I’m feeling more and more prepared for recording next month thanks to Sophia. Seriously can’t recommend her enough.

What an amazing coach! I trained with Sophia to strengthen my broadcasting voice. I knew I was never going to be an crazy belter like her but she improved my vocal delivery and technique. She was so patient and detailed almost as if it was an anatomy class! I learned so much about breathing, neck placement, jaw alignment, tongue activation, visual spotting… and then I sang a few bars! Ha Ha! She pushed me beyond MY goals! I really appreciated her nurturing approach. She knew exactly when to push and pull and to motivate and correct. She was so thorough but you got to deliver too: there was prep work, self work, homework, and bring to the table work! Overall, Sophia genuienly wanted me to succeed! I highly recommend Sophia for all serious vocal professionals; you’ll be challenged and pushed; you’ll improve and up your game! I’m so glad I trained with Sophia. It’s funny how you have to tell your neighbors, «Don’t mind my frequent funny vocal scales and quibbles. Just doing my homework!»

A buddy of mine referred me to Sophia after she helped him get his voice in shape for some music he wanted to record. I was so impressed by the quality of his recording and I wanted Sophia to teach me to sing better. Our weekly lessons built a solid foundation that I rely on for breathing, speaking, and singing. Her coaching style is tailored to whatever is needed in the session at hand. Come prepared with a voice recorder! Listerning to her guidance after the lesson is worth many times the price. I highly recommend her!

I grew up singing in choir, and sung through high school, but ten years later I’ve gotten really rusty. I wanted to take a few lessons before auditioning for a local classically focused choir that required sight-reading and prepared audition songs. I’m really glad I found Sophia. She’s friendly, funny, & low-key but a consummate professional. She’s also really, really patient. In two lessons she helped me with everything from breathing & tone to sight-reading and keeping time, and most of all confidence. She was also completely understanding when I cancelled a lesson the day before because I was too busy at work. Time was well balanced between warm-ups and working on songs. Two hour-long lessons for $ 75(the first lesson is half off) felt like a steal. Oh and I got into the choir last week!
