I like this subway, they are very clean… But they do take a while to make your food and that’s not good when you are in a rush. They also have a habit of closing before they’re suppose to, over all the staff here is nice. Never been rude and the lady is sweet!

Okay, so here is one of my few negative reviews. Simply put, the service is not very good here. They just can’t seem to get enough employee’s or ones that can work quickly and efficiently. They have a difficult time understanding and filling my order and they are so slow it’s like they just started working there. It even takes a long time to count out my change. I am not sure if the place has changed ownership, but I have noticed a definite increase in the amount of time it takes to get your meal. The experience has been consistent over the last few months, so this is not simply someone training or having a bad day. During the peak hours, I won’t even go there anymore as there will be a line out the door and it simply takes far too long to get served. It’s a Subway, and the food is what it is. Personally I like the sandwiches, but they really need to speed things up there if they want to keep me as a customer. Get more people to work there or find ones that can work at a faster pace, but please don’t make us wait so long.

The place is clean and the sandwiches are up to par. But the customer service is hard for me to relate to(e.g. foreigners; i’m not racist but when you can’t communicate do to a language barrier when all you want is a subway sandwich, it can be quite frustrating). Also, they tend to close earlier than their store hours which I feel is misleading and poorly conducted business practices. Don’t over-promise and under-deliver. It makes people angry.

This is a great Subway, in my humble opinion. Hence, the four stars. Yeah, when I rate, I rate in a vacuum. It’s not like I can fairly compare a Subway franchisee to an auto mechanic or a museum, right? Nor to a Vietnamese restaurant, even. I rate based on what my experience was, and compared to other members of that particular genre. Subway is one of the better fast food joints, and perhaps *the* best when it comes to being tasty, inexpensive, *and* healthsome! These traits do not commonly go together – in fact, «inexpensive» usually goes along with«fucking shitty.» In general, Subway’s new discounted footlongs – $ 5 for a fairly broad selection, for those not in the know – is a miracle of advertising. I have no idea how it affects their bottom line, but I *can* tell you that Subway has become one of my default eateries ever since the $ 5 footies came on the market. Ya know, they’re decent. Low-fat, filling, and you can load ‘em up with veggies – roughage, ya know? Nature’s broom. Pair that up with the mud coffee I fix myself in the morning and guess what I’m doing as soon as I get to work? Okay, so we’re talking about Subway in general – what about this location in particular merits four stars? Well, the morning lady is a gem – she herself is clean and tidy, and when I walk in, and if there’s no customers, she’s puttering about wiping this or that, and sweeping industriously. These are behaviors that I like to see in eatery workers. And, she’s friendly. A little soft-spoken, but shit, not like I need to get yelled at while I’m ordering a sandwich. And the amazing part is that this particular stretch of 14th gets a of shitty foot traffic. Skells making their«smash & grab» inspection of parked cars, the weirdo low-income folk from next door(not to mention the super creepies down the block at 17th and Jackson). With so many scumbags marching in and out, the inside continues to be spotless, the workers maintain a cheery attitude… Hey, I dig it. This Subway is on my side, I like them, take yer four stars and wear ‘em with pride. Martin W, out.

this subway is about a block away from the oakland library. before recessionary times. subway’s predatory random selling of franchisees endangered existing franchise holders. depressiony times and subway’s $ 5 special menu has revolutionalized the fast food industry and literally saved subway franchise holders from eating each other alive.(i know, some people like this). the basics of $ 5 footlong: subway special: 1)choose a bread(6 to choose from) 2)choose a filling: –black forest ham –blt– –cold cut –meatball marinera –veggie deltie –chicken breast marinera –tuna –chicken breast –italian 3) add cheese, .50 extra 4)to toast or not to toast bread and fillings. 5)choose amongst many kinds of veggies to include or exclude plus your choice of oils, vinegar, and/or dressings… take outs –went without the peppers, pickles, vinegar. on my meatball minerva. ok. but the amount of veggies overpowered the few meatball. –good value –could easily be 2 meals for most, but for me, i ate the whole thang! –buy $ 10 subway card, get a free cookie.(polly would like).
