I went here on a Monday afternoon to get my eyebrows and a manicure. My boyfriend came along to also get his eyebrows done. After looking through colors, which were sort of cheap and a lot were dried up, I decided to pass on the mani but still wanted my brows done. The guy in there did an excellent job on both mine and my boyfriends eyebrows! $ 7 you can’t beat it. The 4 stars is for the dried nail polish and selection of colors from brands like Jordan’s, LA Colors and a bunch I’ve never heard of before. I would recommend this place for waxing! And bring your own color for a mani!

I tried a pedicure at this nail spot after seeing the positive reviews. I’m glad I did! It’s convenient walking distance from my house, which is always a plus. The polish selection is extensive, though it is mostly made up of brands I haven’t seen before — I’m curious to see how the color holds up on my toes. Aside from that, the pedicure itself was great. The lady who did my nails took her time and was exceedingly thorough and gentle. The space is small and clean, and despite both a TV and music going, both were at low volume so it had a generally quiet atmosphere. At $ 17 for a standard spa pedicure, I will definitely be back. Next time I’ll have to try a mani too!

Definitely a fan. I was getting hairy & I figured I’d try this place out since I pass by on a walk around the neighborhood. I went in for an eyebrow and upper lip wax and was not disappointed! For $ 12(before tip), it was HALF the price I usually pay, for the same results! I’ve been here 3 times for the same thing and it’s been consistent. Pretty solid. Never done nails here so no review on those services.

Nothing fancy, but just a wonderful little place to get a super inexpensive($ 7) and amazing looking eyebrow wax. Every time I come here I get compliments on how my eyebrows look — and it’s thanks to the ladies here! Love to support this local non-frills business.

they wouldn’t let me use a $ 10 gift card my friend gave me for my birthday because they changed management 2 months ago. whatever.

I used to love this nail shop when Li and John was there but since they left I have not had a good experience. Li was the best person to ever do my eyebrows and whoever the girl was that did my eyebrows messed them up terribly, so I had to go elsewhere. Come back Li, I miss your work of art.

I love this place, and the ladies who now run it. I lived across the street from it for 6 years, and have tried several other places over the years, but always end up back here. I moved 5 miles away last year, and still make the time to come to this place. I always go in for the Hawaiian Pedicure, a natural manicure, and waxing. It’s the best deal and the ladies are so responsive and care taking. They don’t rush through the services, and aren’t slow, either. So here you can rest assure relaxation and quality work for half the price of other places. The Hawaiian Pedicure is my favorite. and they ALWAYS sterilize the implements for each client, I’ve seen it in action every time I go whether it’s for me or someone else. Love it.

Best eyebrow wax in Oakland, probably even beats most places I’ve been in SF. Don’t let the dingy atmosphere throw you off. Saturday and Sunday afternoons are sometimes really busy, but most other times there’s never a wait. The guy who does waxing here is a rock star.

this is my first time that i actually felt a need to rate a business on Unilocal.i went to this business after being referred from a friend. the shop appeared out of date and dingy and several pieces of equipment appeared not to function properly, but i trusted my friends recommendation. the purpose of my visit was to have the shelaq on my nails replaced. i told the gentleman who assisted me that i had never had fake nails, acrylic or gel and i was concerned about my nails being damaged because they were naturally thin. i had shelaq remnants still on my nails at the time of my visit. the man then started with a procedure that i had not seen before, but he assured me it was the same as shelaq. he was very accommodating and my nails looked great when he was done. i thanked him and gave a tip. fast forward to now. a few days ago i discovered that i had acrylic overlay on my nails that had damaged my nails. i then had to endure a painful/long procedure to have the substance removed. staff at the nail shop on grand was very nice and attempted to not make me feel so bad about my encounter and discounted the procedure to removing the acrylic. my nails look terrible and are damaged so that i can not even have shelaq at this time. i chose to not have nails for 30+ years to now have someone trick me into messing up my nails. i am upset because i feel this person took advantage of my ignorance regarding nail care. i asked him several times during the proceedure and commented that what he was doing was different that what i had done before. i am much too trusting. i spoke with my friend after having the acrylic removed. she had only visited the salon for eyebrows and lashes. she alo added a comment, «did you see anyone getting nails done?» as if this situation was my fault. i guess it was my fault for not trusting my instinct. i will not be going back!

I got the mani/pedi, and they did a great job. The pedi lasted a long time, like a whole month when my nails got too long and there was a little chip. I also got my brows done, and Li did a nice job. I wasn’t used to how much he trimmed off, but they looked good! The only thing is he assumed how I’d like them and didn’t ask. I guess I should have specified. But I’d go back again for sure! Plus you can’t beat the price!

I’m the type of girl who will go days without shaving and then be all self-conscious about her bushy man-brows. This place is in my ‘hood and so I finally decided to check it out after a horrific look at the caterpillars in the mirror this a.m. So glad I did! I normally tweeze, but Li made my brows look spectacular as well as being super friendly and awesome. And you can’t beat the price! To the person who lost some eyebrow skin: I’m sorry that happened to you. It isn’t always the aesthetician’s fault, but a combo of factors, including the wax type and temp and the sensitivity of your skin. They do use hot wax here — people with sensitive skin prone to ripping should try cold or honey wax, or threading.

*update* Went back and Li did my nails. The man gives a solid manicure. $ 10 — I’ll be back for the nails(but still staying away from the waxing).

Sarah G.‘s review seems to be correct. I went for my nails on a Saturday afternoon and received high quality service. While there about 5 different women came to have their eyebrows done, so it’s obviously a popular place in the community. Also, kids came with their mom’s, so it’s family-friendly. I will go back again since the service was great and the price is right!

I use to come here all the time for nails, pedi, and eyebrows. Li, who is always there, is great. He listens and does a good job. I haven’t been here in a while because I moved to Alameda, but out of the regular old nail shops, this is a good place to go to for its prices.

I’m happy to put my neighborhood shop on the Unilocal radar. Fresh Nails is another lil nail shop in Oakland. But it is better still. Li does the BEST eyebrows. Period. I will let them grow out and get bushy before I will go anywhere else, even when it’s out of the way. I’ve been to expensive salons and wax studios and they have always complimented my brows. Typically it’s him and his brother and they both do great nails as well, beautiful hand done designs with colorful paint if that’s your thing too! It’s not lavish or even super clean, but they do a good job for the good olé nail shop price. It’s like $ 7 for brows, $ 10 for reg mani, I think $ 25 for mani/pedi and I usually add on a few designs to get it to an even $ 30. Check ‘em out! You won’t be disappointed.
