1st time here and hands down, both items I purchased were delicious! I ordered the iced latte with a BLUEBERRYUPSIDEDOWN /MUFFIN. Please note if your grandmother makes these from scratch(like mines does) this is just as good but with a twist. I was a little doubtful that I would like it at first, but the 1st bite was soft, moist, and the flavors complimented each other very well. I forgot to mention that they also use grits in this masterpiece. I was awkwardly impressed by this bite size muffin, but don’t underestimate the goodness of this muffin. PLEASETRYTHISATHOME! I was also educated a bit about why I’m able to order iced caramel macchiato from Starbucks and not here! To my surprise, they made the drink up. The original way of a macchiato is with foam, and whaala. Starbucks fools us like we’re really ordering a macchiato! Shame on Starbucks.

Get the French toast. Also their Ninam ham sandwich is pretty good. Wifi password changes regularly and doesn’t work so well.

Muscovado ginger cookie — delicious! Pieces of fresh ginger, crunch of raw sugar on top, and buttery… nom, nom, nom… all gone! Reasonably priced at $ 2.50 /cookie

The employees all looked like they hated their jobs(except for the cook). There was no warm welcoming other reviewers noted. I got just the opposite, cold«what do you want?» type ordering experience. Pizza was good but everything is overpriced. Tried a couple different sweets but nothing we tried stood out.

No change from my previous review, but I did want to update with the wifi speeds in here. It’s pretty deplorable with 1.18 Mbps download and .09 Mbps upload. I still like the atmosphere a lot, but this is probably the last time I’ll be able to try working from this location.

I have been coming here on and off for years, since they first opened. everything they make is REALLYREALLY delicious. as a person who does bake at home and as a pretty serious foodie, i fee like often bakeries don’t get very critical reviews, they get a kind of a pass — like OH, it’s chocolately and sweet therefore it’s DELICIOUS, so a lot of bakeries have inflated stars. but sweet bar REALLY everything they make is top notch. the textures, the flavors, the consistency both over time and across teh range of things they make. always good. everything from the bakery case is always a winner. (can’t speak to the lunch menu or the coffee bar. BUT i CANRAVERAVERAVE about their hibiscus iced tea. DAMN i would live on that if i could. do yourself a favor and order it unsweetened, and have it with anything fruit flavored from that days choices. You’re welcome!

Good scones! The chai tea latte I had was not sweet enough. There were enough people there, but not so crowded that I could not find a seat. I would love to try more food items, and probably coffee. Parking is difficult, fyi, so be prepared to park further from Sweet Bar and walk a bit.

This place will blow your mind. They singlehandedly changed my view of what constitutes good pizza, and they’re not even a pizza parlor! Everything you see screams quality and I intend to work my way through the whole menu over time. This is the type of place that can get you to like foods you never liked before, such is the genius and artistry at work.

I want to love this place but every time I try and order take out for lunch something goes wrong. Today for example, I was waiting for 15 minutes only be told that I was going to have to wait another 15 minutes for them to prep some item that was missing from my order. All the while I“m standing there watching the cooks talk about who knows what… Never did the person at the register offer something in the meantime or maybe comp my food because they’re taking too long. How about the time before when I ordered the same item, Chicken Miso Salad, and the dressing was missing when I got back to me desk. This is not the first but def the last. If you like waiting for a really long time for your food and you need to kill extra time then I def recomend this place.

Beautiful little confections, but often found the flavor lacking especially at the price. Sampled quite a few options as a group and our favorite by far was the orange bourbon doughnut.

Really cute place with indoor/outdoor seating and ambient music that’s perfect for studying/working and chatting with friends. I went in thinking of getting a small cake but was surprised by their high prices(a 5-inch ish cake for $ 6???). I decided to get the roasted walnut and chocolate chunk cookie and their Tiger Woods lemonade and paid $ 6 for both. The cookie was also a little pricey compared to ones from e.g. Pacific Cookie Company, CREAM, etc. and smaller in size… but it was also so delicious. You could taste the difference in roasted walnuts, and the balance of sweet & salty was amazing. I only wish it was kept warm instead of out at the counter which would’ve helped it taste more fresh. The lemonade was really fresh though, and wasn’t too sweet which was great. All their baked goods have little ingredient cards displayed and it’s evident they care about what goes in their food.

I really really want to like them. They have a great back story and most of their goods are pretty delicious. Plus their Punjabi chai is up to par in the spiciness. Plus how convenient for right after going to the Y. But man their service is just AWFUL. Every single time I get attitude. The first time I thought maybe I inadvertently annoyed the person with my question about the cupcake ingredient(coz, you know, my daughter might die if there almonds in the thing and your display is blocking the list of ingredients). So next time I’m there I take extra care while ordering. Didn’t matter. Still attitude. And the next time. And the next time. And SO slow. Even if there’s not a line it takes five minutes to get my very simple coffee. Why? Beats me. Sorry but you aren’t the only bakery in town.

One of the most amazing cakes I’ve had in a long time. And it was vegan! Had this for friends baby shower and it was to die for. It was the vegan chocolate cake. Def try it.

wait, was it just me or did the lady behind the counter giving us attitude? I’m not sure if the lady was having a bad day or just hate her job but HELLO I’m here to buy sweets from you guys, little more jolly for me please? and another point, if you aren’t going to remember what our 4 simple orders were(chocolate cupcake, lemon bar, snicker doodle, and champagne truffle) can you ATLEASTWRITEITDOWN?! We were asked three times what was it that we ordered. OH and she was not happy that we wanted it to-go. What other choice do we have? All the tables were occupied. BUTANYWAYS! Small selection of sweets from this«bakery» but large selection of sandwiches and drinks off their menu. A little overpriced IMO.

I’m loving the ambience of this cute little café. I was pretty full when I came in to Sweet Bar, but looking at the desserts sparked my appetite yet again. My friend and I decided to share a cupcake, so we ordered the chocolate chip dipped in peanut butter cupcake. For such an expensive cupcake, I expected better. I really liked the peanut butter frosting, but the cake itself didn’t taste as fresh and wasn’t nearly as moist as it could’ve been. It was a good cupcake, but I’m not sure it was worth $ 4.

Sweet Bar Bakery made our amazing vegan chocolate ganache wedding cake for our big day in Piedmont. All of our guests loved the cake and I even ate two slices of it on our wedding day! Mani the owner was super sweet and professional throughout the whole process. We had ordered cakes for small gatherings before but never a vegan cake to feed 100. Mani wanted it to be amazing and show our non-veg guests how wonderful vegan cakes can be. He handled the delivery himself to Piedmont Community Hall and also worked with my florist to decorate it with flowers. It looked perfect and tasted great!

Legit bakery is legit! I really do wish I was in Oakland MORE due to awesome little gems like this place. I don’t mean to sound like an coffee house newbie, but this place is like Starbucks on STEROIDS. The anabolic kind. The ones used with wreckless abandon ala meatheads in the 70s/80s. Yes, this spot serves up the good stuff… And hey, you won’t get disqualified by an Olympic committee! Nothing but the best here. Locally and/or organically and/or responsibly sourced coffees, teas, and other café-esque beverages to wet you whistle… Hi folks, Eric Andal here, Listen, you ever wonder what«wet your whistle» means? Well, have you ever tried to whistle with some dry lips? Exactly. You’re welcome. But I digress. You can definitely get your high quality hot beverage fix here. But the desserts though! All em homemade and made from scratch. Cakes, pies, cookies, diabolical French pastries I can’t pronounce, cupcakes, etc. If you are a sweet tooth, you shall be in carb overload heaven. They also serve a pie that has pumpkin, sweet potato, AND pecan… aka EVERYTHING I want in a pie… now, I’m not sure if that pie is an everyday thing, but if it is, YOUNEED a slice or 5 in your life. Low carb? Who cares. Ketogenic? Time to break that blood pact you made with your uppity CrossFit coach. EATTHEPIE. All in all, this place makes me wish that I lived in Oakland. I would frequent this spot on the regular, guaranteed. Any place that’s not Vallejo, business-wise, has got it so good. So I don’t wanna hear any complaining! Anyways, GOHERE! GOHERENOW!

I like Sweet Bar Bakery because it’s really a simple but efficient space, not major frills or extras, just an amazing staff, some café food staples, incredible cupcakes, and a beverage selection worth travelling for. I had the hibiscus agave lime iced tea and a chocolate cupcake, and both were really good and worth the price. Some tables are a little wobbly, but it’s not a huge issue(they have spare fillers if you get really irritated) — there’s plenty of space to sit and not be right up next to someone, which is nice. The wifi could be stronger, but otherwise I really like this place. Also, their music selection is always on point, there’s very few things better than jamming to Aaliyah while getting work done.

My pops and I had a meeting to attend and lucked up when we found out it’d be taking place at Sweet Bar Bakery in Uptown. Neither the faja nor I felt like grubbin’ after a long, hard day at work but were more than delighted to feed our(shared) coffee addiction. And boy, oh boy, did we hit the jackpot. Sweet Bar’s Bolivian blend was delicious, robust and quite frankly, addictive as all hell. Did I mention the bottomless in-house refills? Super duper dangerous, y’all. Since being introduced to the liquid gold just seven months ago, I had never had Bolivian coffee before and was instantly in love. I was fooled by the teeny tiny cups that Sweet Bar supplies and figured that a few trips back to the watering hole for a refill wouldn’t be so bad. Before long, both papa bear and I had missed more of the meeting running back and forth from the coffee dispenser than we realized. All in all, I think I probably drank seventeen cups of that deliciousness that night. I didn’t make it to sleep until 1 A.M. and I will never, ever regret that. As I mentioned, I didn’t order any of the food or confections Sweet Bar boasts, so I can’t offer any opinion from my tastebud’s perspective. The fab folks who I was meeting with complained about the quality of their food and the desserts that they ordered, which is def unfortunate and led me to knock off a star. As a connoisseur of all things incredibly caloric and someone who worked at a renowned bakery for years and years, I did not like the looks of what I saw of their pastries. But I’m just a girl in the world, in the words of Gwen Stefani. I also had to knock off a star for service because ordering from the cashier, asking her questions about the available selections, and asking questions well after we had ordered and were seated(y’know about where the bathrooms were or where we could find supplies) seemed to annoy her to the point of heavy sigh and hand to forehead levels. I get it, it’s 6 o’clock and you’ve probably been working all day and I’m probz just irritating you and making it worse by asking you how you’re doing. My bad girl! We all have those days. But you guys stay open ’til 8 P.M., so I suggest chanting whatever lil’ uplifting mantra you have on deck and pulling it together for the next few hours. All in all, a worthy café but I’m not sure I’d call it a worthwhile bakery.

Having some time to kill while wandering around Oakland waiting to meet a friend for dinner, I stopped in at Sweet Bar Bakery. Seeing great reviews and a plethora of pastries to choose from, I put together a box of cupcakes to take back to SF and share. The cupcakes were a mixed bag in terms of quality. None of us really cared for the mocha one, which was far too rich and dense to be enjoyable. Everyone, however, enjoyed the coconut cream which was delicate, light and delicious. The rest I’d say were average. I also got to try a few other items, including a lemon bar and a few cookies. None of them were overly impressive. Overall, this is a decent bakery and I’m not all that familiar with the competition in Oakland, but I have to assume there is better. That being said, I did think Sweet Bar was«A-OK.»
