Delicious food with friendly staff! The carne asada is flavorful and tender. Burritos are huge and will not disappoint you.

I love Taqueria Las Comadres! I’m a Bay Area native and cannot believe I had not been there until last week. The veggie burrito is my item of choice, but I noticed they also have fish and shrimp on the weekends. Agua frescas are also good. The only reason I took of a star is that I noticed some of the tables were messy. Other than that, I will happily patronize this yummy restaurant when I’m in Montclair!

Burritos are really good. Although it gets really crowded during lunch hours. So I like to go in a little before lunch time. My husband and I love this place food is good!

Sad excuse for Mexican food! I asked for a big side of guacamole. What I got was a watered down avocado salsa that was way to salty and not worth the six bucks I paid. I will never go back here again. There is much better Mexican food right up the block!

This place was all right. It was cheap yes, but everything was REALLY salty. Not going back.

I’ve ordered take out twice here, but I’ve only tried their food once. I like their salsa bar. They have so many options you can pick from and you can get a piece of foil, fill it and ask them to add it to your meal. I didn’t know you could do this until I saw some people doing it who were ordering after me. I was like, well damn, i should have done that! The burrito I tried was a bite of chile verde and carne asada. I preferred their chile verde because the pieces of pork were juicy and flavorful. The carne asada was ok, sort of dry, and I’m sure I would have enjoyed it more if I didn’t have a taste of the chile verde to compare it to. However, that just means I’ll be ordering chile verde from them next time and not steal from my bf. haha The only thing I have to say is their ratio of meat to rice/beans is a bit off. I wish there were a bit more meat. I’m definitely coming back to try more of their food, especially since they’re only a couple blocks away from where I live.

Looked like it might be tasty. Unfortunately as a vegetarian I wasn’t able to try it. They claim to have a ‘vegetarian burrito’ but they put the meat behind the beans so the meat falls into the beans as the burritos are prepared. I went to the cashier and kindly apologized for giving unsolicited advice before I called his attention to this. He said ‘yes we have been told this before’. Apparently they aren’t too concerned about their potential customers needs. Will never return here.

I love this place, I remember when it opened and I tried it for the first time. The food is so good. I get the pollo asado, which I highly recommend to others, and black beans. I do not recommend the refried beans. They also have a salsa /«toppings» bar which I love. The grilled onions and jalapeños are my favorites.

The food here has gotten so bland and overpriced. Once a twice a month dinner for me, it’s now been over 8 months since I’ve eaten here. We’re in Oakland people, there’s hella Mexican food to compete with(even if you are in Montclair), step your game back up! Please!

First time to try this place today. We went around 615pm for a quick dinner with four kids and five adults so I realize that it was probably the food that’s been there all day since they close at 7:30pm. Strangely a huge line formed after us. But a majority of the customers were doing take out. We sat down at the outdoor patio furniture. Food: 2.5 stars We ordered two fish taco specials. But they only had one piece of fish left. So ½ a special :(so i ordered a carnitas and carne asada taco. The carne asada was sooo salty(and i usually love salt)! The carnitas(i mean it’s like bacon, u can’t go wrong right?) but it was dried and hard to chew. We tried the kids chicken burrito(my son rated 4 stars), cactus salad, nachos, chicken with beans and rice. Our friends like their food. Service: 5 stars(Enrique– great job, thanks for all the kind help). The people were patient and friendly. Ambiance: 1.5. i seriously expected a bit more for Montclair. Faded plastic patio chairs, unmatching and random. Did not get the feeling of cleanliness, which is not good. Afraid to use their restroom.

Good burritos for the price. We just moved to the area and saw a huge line outside and had to try it. They have a nice array of salsas to choose from, but the place is small so there’s limited seating. When I dine in I usually ask for my burrito to be wrapped since they come unwrapped and it’s impossible to hold.

BESTBURRITO!!! Seriously. The burrito here is just a step above the iconic burrito places in the city everyone raves about(la taq, el farolito, cancun, etc). I always get the super carne asada with everything. The people who work there are awesome. They always recognize my mom and I whenever we walk in. I can’t even talk about the other foods here because I can’t not order the burrito. People usually make a face when I say my favorite burrito is in Montclair village because that somehow makes it lose«authenticity» points. Keep doing you, Las Comadres, because it’s obviously working. Big fan!

The cheese wasn’t melted in my burrito the ladies who make your food are rude and when I used my debit card to pay, I did not have to enter my pin, sign anything and did not receive a receipt. When I went back to ask about the lack of receipt I was looked at like I was crazy. I checked my bank statement later and it was 3 dollars more then what I was told my total was. Will not be returning and I suggest anyone who goes here to pay with cash, their credit system is shady.

Thumbs up on the meat selections, friendly service, awesome salsa bar and fresh, warm, non-greasy chips. Very reasonable prices. Only complaint is that it is impossible to eat the soft tacos by hand due to extra water in the beans or salsa — definitely need the knife and fork!

Only came here because there’s no other Mexican taquerias around. Soggy burrito and salty steak. And the tacos, you can’t even eat it because they soak right through the tortilla. Next time I’ll go to Taco Bell instead. Advice: make your refried beans less watery and slow down on the salt.

WEIGHTWATCHERSPLUS. This is a bare bones hole in the wall, formica tables a few tables outside. Bus your own dishes. HOWEVER if you are on a diet their weight watchers plate is perfect. Lettuce, a scoop of meat, salsa(all you want) plus you can add onions, peppers, cilantro and other things ask them to leave off the cheese. Take it home if you don’t want to rub elbows with all of the local workers who line up out into the street at lunch time, but everyone is polite and happy to have good, inexpensive food. Do not go here if you are wanting, tex /mex or something trendy. This is Mexican street food sometimes carefully done, sometimes not.(the picture of the food line says it all)

Not bad! This is a little hole in the wall kind of restaurant that is great for a cheap burrito fix. I had the carne asada burrito with guacamole– solid choice. It was pretty big so I only finished ¾ of it and kept the last night for a post-bar snack… it tasted good both times. This is definitely not a fine dining restaurant with super impressive food, but this is a good little joint to try if you’re passing by.

What a tragic mess of a burrito. Line out the door. Why? Maybe because there are no other taquerias in the area and people are so desperate for a burrito that they will tolerate any sort of crap rolled in a tortilla? Burrrito was soggy. Carne asada was disgusting. The pico de gallo had this odd flavor that made the burrito taste even nastier. I have had their tacos on another occasion when i was stuck in montclair and it was the same thing only stuck in a taco shell. No free chips. If you are going to charge for chips, at least be good. Go down to the flats for something decent or simply pick another cuisine altogether.
