Looks like they are shutdown there’s a padlock on the outside of the door, no sign or anything

Pure Oakland greatness! Came here for lunch on a weekday. Things were slow due to street construction, we were the only customers and Joe was the only one working! He told us it would take about 45 min to get all 4 of our orders but SO worth the wait. Joe was upfront and highly knowledgeable. Food was outstanding, service impeccable, the small-dining, slow-food experience unforgettable. Don’t miss the bacon sausage and Tree House potatoes.

Small café in what looks to have previously been a dive bar or maybe a diner. French toast($ 7.99) was scrumptious; the golden brown and crispy edges was just what I was craving! I only wish there were the option of a little fruit to go on top. They were nice enough to give me half a banana with some whipped cream and that was sufficient but I would have loved some strawberries. I’m assuming the man who informed me of their lack of fruit was the owner and he had mentioned the locale does not order fruit much, and it attracts pests. The turkey bacon that accompanied the French toast was salty, but the owner had also said it was even the reduced sodium version. It was a bit greasy so I attempted to blot it a little, as I prefer my bacon more dry and crispy but I didn’t order it that way. The owner and the woman working were both very friendly and although the area may come off as a little sketchy, I would come back for that French toast or even some pancakes next time. I look forward to seeing if any modifications are made to the menu in the future.

This place has amazing pancakes. Somehow, they’ve found a way to make them thick, fluffy, but crispy on the outside. The soyrizo they make is great, the chef even made mine with habanero peppers because I asked for them to be more spicy. My squeeze ordered the soyrizo breakfast and enjoyed it… The cups of coffee are HUGE. Good for a droopy-eyed morning.

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover… when you walk in it looks like you are entering a bar but we were immediately greeted by a very cheerful man named Joe. I ordered the cheese omelette breakfast which is a 1 egg omelette with cheese, your choice of bacon or sausage, rosemary potatoes. My daughter had the pancakes with sausage and organic syrup. It was so bomb! The bacon was cooked to perfection and had delicious flavor. The pancakes were the thickest fluffiest pancakes I’ve ever had, so so good. The rosemary potatoes were also very flavorful and delicious. All in all everything was fantastic. I will definitely go back there again.

Went here for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised at how yummy the food was. Our coffee mugs were gigantic and the coffee was great. Real big portions, very satisfying and well made food. Everything seemed to be really fresh. The ambiance is a bit awkward, with dim lighting, no music and no real theme or décor, but the head guy was really nice and the food was quality. Sure, it could use an update for friendlier decore on the inside(it feels like you’re walking into a dive bar rather than a café) but we’d come back for sure.

This was a lesson learned as a Unilocal reviewer. Listen to those reviews that rate 1s and 2s. Because in this instance they were right on! This place should be shut down. We ordered pancakes that were half cooked. turkey bacon that was undercooked. And the tree house special. One taste of this and my stomach immediately started bubbling up. I really really wanted this place to win, but it just didn’t do it for my family and i. The restaurant was a old dive bar with tables. Half the building was completely dark. the bathrooms were hidden in the back I had to use the light from my cell phone to find the women’s bathroom because I couldn’t find the men’s. I looked in the kitchen the floor was wet and it looked unorganized. Our order took approx 45 mins to arrive and they brung out one plate at a time and everything except the tree house was cold. It’s hard to believe this place is open at all. They need dude from bar rescue to come a make over the entire operation. Because I’m sure someone else got sick here. One plus was that staff we trying extra hard to accommodate us. But the food and restaurants ambiance was real nasty. Our meals came up to 30 bucks plus tip we left most of the food uneaten. We left with upset stomachs, hungry and disappointed. This was not a good weekend for the local businesses t I spent money at.

Great little gem in an area that doesn’t have a lot of great eateries. I live half a mile away and we always have trouble finding good places for food in this area so we end up going to Alameda or around lake Merritt. Joe is the chef and he makes real quality food and obviously cares about making his customers happy. The pancakes are fluffy and have a nice crunch on the edges. French toast is tasty. Potatoes are among the best in the bay area. Dine in takes a while, but the personal service and high quality remind me a lot of Jodie’s in Albany(no longer in business). I hope this place lasts a long time.

Very unassuming location on 64th and foothill blvd. however very tasty food. I had the breakfast bowl and it was delish! Rosemary potatoes nice and soft like I like them, over easy eggs with cheese, I crumbled bacon in top and it was very enjoyable. My daughter had French Toast and sausage which was tasty as well. The I quality of the food here is comprable to food you would purchase at Costco and not a low cost restaurant supply chain. I am very pleased with the food and service I received. I wish the owner much success and when I’m in the area I will definately eat here again.

Just tried the bacon cheeseburger and fries! Wow! Your simple burger, no frills, but oh so delicious! Fries were sssssoooooo good(speaking as a self-proclaimed professional fry connoisseur!)… hand-cut, crisp, seasoned perfectly. Yes, it takes 30 – 40 minutes to get your food… no joke… but once you taste the food, the wait is worth it — rather my food be made with lots of care and attention-to-detail than rushed! Yes, it probabaly used to be bar… yes, it’s not the prettiest of spaces… but I will sacrifice a bourgie setting for delicious, home-made, meal. The owner is super friendly and accommodating, and truly cares about the food he serves. He’s just starting out and building little by little — love his passion!

Ouch is right. I am surprised that so many people had so many nice things to say about this place. Eating here was NOT a good experience. We walked in and right off the back I was thinking oh oh, what have we done? This place is inside a converted bar. The ceiling is black and there is NO light, none. When I left, I felt like I had just emerged from a dungeon! My eyes were squinted and i felt dingy and dirty. First off, the food took 30 minutes to come out. The coffee was dilute folgers style and a bit skanky. The only cream available is flash pasteurized packets. Flavored too! When we ordered, my gf ordered an item that came with potatoes. The server suggested that she try the«Tree House» potatoes. Strike that, he more like commanded her. At no point did he say that it would be an extra charge. $ 5.00 extra! This felt dishonest and misleading to us. When they asked us later if we wanted more coffee, I said no because I felt that it wouldn’t be beyond them to charge me per cup. Ironically, the food was ok, but I would never go back to this place because of the other circumstances. I thought we would find some«diamond in the rough» but all we discovered was a greasy spoon that smeared us with a dingy feeling of sitting in a closed space without any ventilation for too long.

I really wanted to line this place. The guy running the show is very nice. With that said I wouldn’t recommend or return to this place. The setting is an old bar that is now a breakfast place. It is dark 1950’s working man bar atmosphere. Not the most inviting. The service was basically nonexistent. They took our order, forgot our order. Came out with a ordering system and punched it in. 3 – 4 times I had to ask for my drink. We waited and waited. There was only 1 other customer yet we continued to wait. My drink finally came but it was luke warm water with a Lipton tea bag that only made the water brown not steeped tea. I went to the bathroom and saw a mouse running down the hallway. Normally that would be enough to make me just leave but the dude in charge was just so cluelessly nice. Finally our meal arrived. My sunny side eggs that took 30 minutes to cook were over medium. He apologized and offered to cook more eggs but I said forget it and asked where my side of toast was. My eggs were cold over cooked rubber by the time the toast showed up. By then my legs were sore from keeping my feet off the floor because I had a fear of a mouse running up my pant leg. Normally I would have complained like hell and walked out but the dude was just so nice. We ate, tipped 15% and left. I wasn’t going to bother with a review but a really good local place we use to go to 2 – 3 times a month just closed and I didn’t want regulars like us to bother coming to this place as a new alternate…

This place is really good and they’ll totally customize things for you. The food is just amazing for the price. The pancakes are monstrously fluffy, and they have real maple syrup for a buck. My favorite is the scramble with bacon sausage, yes, bacon sausage is a thing… and they make it themselves! Did I mention their prices? $ 3 – 5 for basics and $ 8 – 12 for the specials. Completely reasonable, especially for the quality. Let’s be clear, this place is not fast, and the coffee isn’t great, but it’s also not $ 3. The thing that I love about this place is that they’ve got a lot of heart. It’s not a neighborhood resplendent with options, so this is definitely a diamond in the rough.

Ouch. I have no idea why this place has multiple good reviews. I’m a big fan of hole-in-the-wall diners, but this was terrible, start to finish. 1. Awful, burnt coffee. 2. After ordering, was informed that the chef«doesn’t poach eggs.» Wound up with passable over easy, but seriously? 3. No sour cream for the potatoes. 4. Tea was essentially lukewarm tea-flavored water. 5. Took ~45 minutes to receive our food. At least it was cheap, and the waitress was super nice & had a wonderful way of speaking(who uses words like«remiss» in everyday conversation? Awesome.) But no, never coming here again.

The fluff of the pancakes reminded me of the way my grandmother made pancakes for me when i was a child. That being said, I loved the experience and meal that I had. The service was extra friendly and the food was tasty. We had a breakfast, pancake stack, and the awesome Tree House Potatoes. Everything was well seasoned, fresh, and steaming hot. Definitely recommend you checking it out.

I grew up in the neighborhood and was curious to see what Treehouse would be like. There are very few places to eat on Foothill Blvd, and Treehouse looks more like the bar it used to be. Getting over that, and the security door, and the dark décor, you can find that this is the kind of place that you really want to succeed. The prices are way cheap, and the food very tasty and freshly made. the coffee is old fashioned folger’s type, but in a huge cup. My partner had the eggs over, and they were too done, so he offered to make a fresh batch, but we were in a rush(it’s not a Denny’s kind of place). The TH potatoes were delicious, with a little sausage mixed in. I had a hamburger, which was fresh patties(you could tell, a little unevenness on the edges) and it was really tasty. So were the fries. The prices were very reasonable, and if it was brighter, and didn’t feel so clubby, it could be really go to spot for breakfast, since there is plenty of street parking, and the food is tasty. I told the owner he needs one more lunch signature… like a «famous» chili!!! Going back soon.

I visited this place in September and am writing this review now because the yummy food has been on my mind ever since. Came here for a birthday brunch with close to 20 friends. We rented out the spot for the occasion. The Tree House is an intimate, cozy spot perfect for breakfast and lunch. The staff is attentive, friendly, and helpful. The food is delicious, I loved everything from the french toast, eggs and the Italian polenta sausage(they made a special menu for my bday celebration). They are not afraid to use spices to really flavor up the food and make it special and memorable — as should be! Anything I wanted, they provided with a smile. I haven’t had a chance to go back as I have been out of the country for the last couple months but now that I am back, I will need to make a stop soon soon. Don’t let the area deter you from eating at The Tree House. It is truly a diamond in the rough. I recommend the breakfast/brunch, haven’t been for lunch… yet.

I live within walking distance of this place and was craving breakfast, so I stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon. The woman running the front of the restaurant greeted me warmly when I walked in and was happy to answer any questions I had about what to order. The thing that caught my eye first was how reasonable the prices were. They even have an «under $ 4» section. I decided on an omelette with bacon and treehouse potatoes. I’ll tell you right now: order the treehouse potatoes. It’s truly delicious. My meal was great and had the added bonus of conversation from the two friendly owners. Please don’t let the location deter you. This is a great place to go for good food and good service.

Excellent place for breakfast! My friends and I came here on a Saturday morning and good thing we came hungry. We had the breakfast pizza, pancakes, french toast, combo and Treehouse Potatoes. The breakfast pizza was unique and so fresh, the pancakes were fluffly and the french toast came with an option to have hazelnut infused, yum! The Treehouse Potatoes … WOW! I had the vegan version with Soyrizo option and the flavor blew us all away. My friend had it with pork Kielbasa and she enjoyed hers as well. They offer healthy options such as egg whites and turkey bacon. Parking out front on the street. The owners are sweet and care about their patrons. Clean and cozy, a great place to start your day!
