Recently got multiple bids for dent and scrape repair. Phat was fast, efficient, cheaper and the result speaks for itself. Superior work. He even suggested calling in an outside paint-​less dent repair for some crumpling on the front bumper, which was the most cost-​effective solution.
This is a family run business with lower overhead and honest, superior work!

Phat was incredibly helpful in getting my salvaged title car into better than new condition. He was willing to give a great deal to me if necessary, and he managed to have my insurance company cover even more extensive work that really needed to be done for my safety as a driver. A really caring, sincere person, and a hard worker. He got my car looking like new, and even showed me pictures of his work process that I couldn’t see, so that I could understand the full extent of what he did. I highly recommend Transtar!

Hands down best body shop I’ve been to over the years. Unfortunately I’ve experience a deal of bad luck with my cars being hit and had to get repairs and Transtar auto body is the only shop I’ll go back to. I’ve had other shops repair my previous cars and it may be look fine but at least here I know it’ll end up looking great. To me it’s all in details and I can see it every time I take my car in and get it back. Once again thank you Transtar.

Phat is awesome! Really nice guy and cares for his clients. I get quotes from other shops and his prices are always the best. He doesn’t try to highball you or anything.

It may seem that I’m having an affair with Phat– but that is not the case here. During one of my sleep-​deprived moments– I accidentally backed into an immovable object. My car was about 3-​months old and I was heartbroken. I just knew that I would never hear the end of it from the hub– and so what can a girl do? Take the whip to Transtar of course– I called Phat and explained to him my sob story– he was so understanding– asked me to take the car in– he immediately gave me a fair assessment and a fair price– what I love about Transtar is that the work was done as fast as possible– Phat ordered the parts that he needed– I left my car in the morning and was ready to go in 4-​hours. My hub never knew. Phat and I had a good chuckle–
Logistics– they offer to drive you where you need to go while your car is under repair.
Extra– super friendly, super honest. Trust Phat to be discreet when you need him to.
— on another occasion — I was side swiped and the side view mirror popped out– Phat dropped everything to fix it — no charge and service with a smile.

Great experience — I’ve had many experiences dealing with auto body shops and really had to learn about my own car to avoid being overcharged with sometimes unnecessary services, etc. BUT I had a great experience with Transtar — got a recommendation from my agent. I had a hit and run incident hurting my back bumper. Phat cleaned up my car with great care — efficiently and fast too. :) He was friendly, professional and even gave this poor teacher some discount ! I was also pleasantly surprised to find the exterior AND interior of my car so ridiculously clean.

My car was stolen and found 13 days later, undriveable. Lucky I had triple A for a tow at 1 in the morning. I am new to the area and so I wasn’t sure where to bring my car. I was going to have it towed to my friends house and figure it out the next day, However a really nice tow truck driver named John told me about Transtar Auto Body and he called up Phat to see if it was possible to bring it to his shop so I could use one tow instead of two. 1:30 AM we pull up the Transtar and Phat was awesome and opened his gate to safely house my car so he could later check it out. Wonderful customer service, very nice, highly recommended!

Very happy with the service that I received at Transtar. I scraped my car leaving a parking lot. Phat understood exactly what I wanted in terms of a repair for which I wanted to pay out of pocket. His quote was far less than others that I received. The service was professional and friendly. A few points… 1) thanks Phat for the ride back to work after dropping off my car! 2) Thanks for washing my car both inside and out before pick up… nice touch. 3) I realized after dropping off my car that while Phat and I had discussed a price for the work I had not received an estimate in writing. For a moment I felt a bit uncomfortable but this was clearly unnecessary as the price at pick up was exactly as quoted. Body Repair is a service that one hopes not to need in the future. If however I do… I would come right back to Transtar.

I was in a car accident in February and this is where my car got towed. I couldn’t ask for a better body shop my car was repaired and back to new. I was extremely pleased with the work done and also The owner Phat was such a kind man to work with and very knowledgeable. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat

I don’t write too many reviews but when a business deserves it, I want to let other people know.
I needed to get my car repaired and decided to get quotes from 5 Oakland auto body shops that got 4.5+ star Unilocal reviews. It was interesting to compare the different places and see a big range in their quotes.
I made an appointment for the estimate from Transtar Auto Body Shop as per the owner Phat’s request. Phat was outside waiting to greet me and was very pleasant and professional. Transtar had the lowest quote by a significant amount. When inquiring about it, Phat helped me realize that he understood the repair more than the others. He even explained what the other shops probably charged. Not only did he win my confidence but he was also able to take my car in the next day for repair. Some of the other shops weren’t available for a week or two.
They repaired my car quickly as promised and did a great job. They exceeded my expectations by washing my car inside and out! They even removed the film coating on my headlamp cover so that it would be clear and match my new headlamp.
Sometimes when you chose the cheaper option you get what you pay for but definitely not the case with Transtar. I’m so happy that I found an auto body shop that provides a high quality service with such value pricing! Their availability and friendliness are the icing on the cake.

Several months ago, I was towed to Transtar by AAA when my car didn’t start. I didn’t know the Oakland area that well and had no idea where to start when it came to mechanic hunting. I’m really glad the AAA driver brought me there because it’s now my «go to» place whenever I’ve got car issues.
Even though the place is titled «Transtar Audio Body Shop — Auto Body Repair & Paint», they also do a bunch of other things like brakes, oil changes, etc. I recommend them if you happen to live in the Oakland/​Lake Merritt area.
Ask for Phat Tran. He’s very professional, the prices are reasonable, and he’s fast at getting the job done. Can’t beat that.

This place is awesome! The best auto body shop I have ever been to. The owner is nice and professional! Did the job quickly and through out! Love the fact that he detailed my car after he fix it. The car look brand new after !!! Highly recommend and will never go to any other auto body shop !!

Was referred here through a friend to bring my car in. My car would not start and I wanted to see what was the problem. Called AAA who jump started my car and drove to this shop. Phat was the one who helped me out and he diagnosed the problem. Got a new battery and was very happy with the price. The place is at a busy street and there’s only street parking. It’s difficult to get your car into the shop because they have lots of cars parked on the side. Maybe those cars are waiting to be worked on but it was hard to pull my car up in the narrow lane. I was done with my service pretty fast. They told me that I can get a free oil change next time I need one because they had me wait longer than what they told me. So will probably use the free oil change next time it’s due. Really recommend this place if you are in the area.

Really great place!
I came in because my bumper got hit in a hit and run on a Friday night. Came in Saturday and got a really good quote, so I decided to drop my car off. My car was ready by Wednesday. The damages weren’t too bad. The hit messed up the paint and caused a small dent. Phat was able to repaint the whole bumper, and even fixed a few small dents I had from previous mishaps.
I got my car back WASHED and the interior cleaned. That was a surprise! The best part: no additional charge.
I highly recommend coming here for your auto body repair needs.

A couple of months ago, my car began smoking on the side of the road one Friday evening in Oakland. I called AAA and a tow truck came to get me, however, I wanted the tow truck driver’s personal opinion on the auto shop AAA recommended. He told he knew of a better auto body shop, Transtar, who also had better rates of auto repair and was highly recommended by others as well. Phat, the owner of Transtar, had already closed for the day, but the tow truck guy called him and Phat opened back up to take my car in and help me. Phat discovered the problem quickly: I needed a new radiator (womp womp). He was able to replace it for me by Monday, at a rate price AND as an added bonus– also cleaned my car for me since it was so filthy! Phat is an awesome mechanic and wonderful business man. After my great experience with him and his team, I will definitely be back with my new car!

I got in a collision in Oakland and didn’t know where to get my car towed. The AAA tow truck driver recommended Phat Tran and I’m so happy with the work he did. My car looks brand new, he even took care of dents that he didn’t have to. I would definitely recommend this shop.

After getting into a car accident I was unsure of the next step to take in order to get my car repaired. A friend of mine tooled me About transtar autobody so i did took it to him it was one of the best decisions I could have made. Aside from their quality work they did on my BMW 325I, The staff their is very friendly and the customer service was excellent. They explained everything to me making the process very simple. My car turned out great !!! Thanks again Transtar i hope i dont get in to an accident again if i do you guys are my first choice
