This restaurant WAS my favorite delivery place due to its great food. But, it is unlikely that I will order from them again and here’s why: I have a neck injury and needed the food brought up the steps(as previously communicated with them prior to the delivery), and I live in a safe area of town. The delivery person, however, appeared very upset that I didn’t come down to pick up the food, and she told me that the delivery people are told not to leave their cars especially in «dangerous» neighborhoods«WHERETHEREAREBLACKPEOPLE.» How can I support a business that holds racist views like this?

I came here for lunch on a whim this week. I had never been before and was quite impressed by the size of the place and the patio. The art work was really fun, and I like how they cater to vegans as well as omnivores. I also like how they serve vegan and regular chai tea. I’ve never seen that before. I wasn’t super impressed by the flavors/spices, but the lunch special was a great deal and the service was fast and friendly. When given the choice of mild, medium or spicy I chose spicy because I like a nice kick to my food. Well, I was disappointed. It wasn’t until after I was done eating that I spotted a ground chili pepper shaker on a table nearby. I guess I’m not the only one who has a high tolerance for spice. Seriously though, I feel like I got mild food and wondered if somehow«spicy» means just the Indian spices and no chili, no heat? Then I wondered if there’s a secret code I can use for«I know I’m not Indian, but I swear to god I want you to make it as spicy as if I were an Indian person ordering right now.» I haven’t had this problem at House of Curries, Vic’s, Khana Peena or Flavors of India, but next time I’m at an Indian restaurant for the first time, I’ll look for the shaker or ask if there’s a special code.

This is simply not very good quality Indian food. I order chicken tikka masala which I’ve had at countless other places in my life and it didn’t taste anything like it. It was dry and just wasn’t tasty at all. I ended up throwing it out after a few bites.

This place has a great lunch with free rice, dal and tea. Impressed by how much variety(both vegan and non-vegan) as well as the cute spot. Great patio space, which I staked out a few times when my new apartment didn’t have wifi yet. They were very nice about it and didn’t bat an eye when I took full advantage of the unlimited chai.

Don’t order online! They don’t know what they’re doing. Delivery estimate was 45 – 60 min, 1 hour and 45 min later and they can’t even tell me if they’ve sent out my order.

Do NOTORDERFROMHERE. Wish I would have read the reviews about online orders before ordering. Estimated delivery was 45 – 60 minutes. It had been 1 hour 15 minutes so called to check on our order status and was told that it was never received. Disappointing because we were hungry, but we decided to order again and pick up this time. Almost 2 hours after we order I receive a phone call from the delivery person saying that he’s here. I explained to him the situation and he tried to argue with me about it. Called again to make sure we weren’t charged for it and the same person argued again. Really weak customer service. Get it together before you start offering online delivery options.

DONOTORDERDELIVERY!!! Ordered from Unilocal App direct, confirmation said food would be delivered 45−60mins… It took over 1 hour 50mins, no call from driver or restaurant for update… Ok so you are busy, I can understand that. Tipped the driver anyways, not his fault I’m sure, when I opened the food, it was MISSINGTHEMAINDISH, and the biriani was crushed like it was sat on and cold! When I called to complain to the restaurant they didn’t offer a refund for the missing dish, just told me to wait for the manager to call me… It’s been a week! Not cool, and just plain old bad customer service!!! It’s a digital order, I have the receipt, not a communication problem! Customer lost, Bad review gained! hope it was worth the dish I paid for but never received!

Finally found a restaurant that serves authentic Punjabi food in a very friendly atmosphere! I have not had such fantastic North Indian food outside India! The food: it’s exactly what people eat in Indian homes! Fresh, perfectly flavoured, and just the right spice. If you want it more or less spicy, they’ll definitely adjust spice levels, just ask! We got a number of things on the menu including the seasonal mustard greens curry(sarson). Everything was incredible and we can’t wait to go back! I also asked if they have a particular off-menu item and they don’t have it on the menu but they made it for me anyway. And sent us home with complimentary dessert! The owner and his wife are really warm people who enjoy being around their customers. Now that we’ve found an Indian restaurant with fantastic food and friendly people, we’re not letting go! They have a really nice patio in the back which we’ll check out in warmer weather.

I can’t believe it took me so long to hear about this place since I live nearby. The food is great, many options for vegetarians and vegans. They also give you option on how spicy you prefer your dish. You always get complimentary soup, tea and even rice. The place itself is very chilled and they even have a patio In the back of you like eating outdoors. Service is attentive and always makes sure my food is right.

Food has always been amazing. I am addicted to the Chicken Achar, it’s a light tomato flavor with pickles and onions and it’s stewy and velvety and delicious. You should order it. Tikka is the best in town, it’s not watery and it’s amazingly seasoned. We got about 5 – 8 pieces of chicken in our little tub! That’s a lot compared to the other Indian places we order from. We also got the Palak Paneer, it’s not my favorite, but the husband loves it. This one is more like spinach purée and isnt as drenched in oils as most of the other Indian places in town. Samosas are really well made, they arrived crispy and hot! The chutney is sososo good. Hubby and I are definitely not vegan, so when we tried this place for the first time, we were skeptical of a vegan place also making excellent meat dishes… I am so glad we were wrong. We will continue to order from them for as long as we live in our little apartment in the Laurel.

They always run out of lamb seekh kebab, probably because it is delicious and everyone wants to eat it. I like to eat the lamb, too, so save some for me, bro. I be all like«baa baa black sheep I’m going to eat you» and so forth and so on. Look, it’s food. Unilocal users are mostly ridiculous, everyone thinks they’re writing a darn Zagat review, okay. Y’all need to chill and eat this lamb.

One of the best vegan restaurants around. The menu is expansive, lots of choices for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. I love the samosas, vegetable birryani, aloo gobi mutter, garlic Naan and cucumber and yogurt raita. Check this place out because you won’t be unsatisfied. Did I mention they deliver quickly too?

I’ve come here a few more times since I wrote the review and it’s been consistently good. The lady at the counter is still extremely kind and goes the extra mile(i.e. telling you how long it will be, bringing water to the table when this is a self-serve restaurant, keeping everything clean). New favorite, paneer pakora!

Very nice little Indian restaurant. I got a plate of Aloo Gobi and Chana Masala, and appreciated the free rice, Daal soup, and Chai. The back patio was very comfortable to eat, nicely decorated, and had a nice background of RnB from all around the world. I stayed and read for a while as I ate. The staff was very friendly and service was quick. Definitely a nice place for some authentic Indian home style cooking.

I am torn to give this place four stars, but I came here one weekend evening to satisfy my Indian food cravings. FOOD: I love me saag. Something about the spinach and spices gets me happy, but sadly, I was told, «your dish will be medium», so I expecting something medium, but it came out to be less than mild, to where I thought it was a bit bland. I was hoping for more kick from what I expect of Indian food. The chicken also came out a little more dry than I hoped, so that was also a disappointment. I also got naan to come along, and the naan was standard, but pretty good. There’s also free chai, soup, and rice available and you have to serve yourself. Not bad at all! SERVICE: I found it a bit odd when I was asked when paying if I could tip cash. It was very forward and I think to myself, «I determine if I tip and I want to do it on my card, let me do it on my card». I’m one to typically tip via cash since I know credit cards does take out the transaction fee. Asking a customer to do that is forward, and frankly, rude to expect a tip when you do not really provide a full service for your customers. Overall, I have had better Indian food in the Bay, but I came here due to convenience off of Piedmont.

So happy I found this place! I order the chicken tikka masala, fish pikora, garlic nan, and butter chicken everything was so tasty! I love that they have unlimited rice & delicious chai tea. The owner came by to check on us very nice man I always appreciate when people do that it shows they do care about the food their putting out.

Worst food I have tried to eat in California. Completely disgusting and inedible. This is closer to Indonesian food. If its due to the vegan quality of not having lard, I think they still have done it wrong. The Aloo Gobi is sweet, and its sweet tomato sauce. It is disgusting. The vegetable curry also is sweet, sweet tomato sauce. — same with the Chana masala, which was a mistake by the restaurant, I ordered something different. They do not use Indian spices or Indian recipes. These items were wretched.

Forget all the burger joints up and down Piedmont Ave. If you really want to find a gem of a place, check out Vegan & Tikka Masala. I know, right?! Who knew? They just changed owners and the new management is intent on making legit Indian food. It clearly shows — many of the dishes I tried were great. I’ll admit the name threw me a bit. It’s actually NOT just vegan food. That is, they have vegan and non-vegan dishes. If you’re vegan, this place should be a no-brainer. They cook with coconut oil instead of milk which is a rarity for Indian restaurants in the US. If you’re not vegan, though, still give this a try. It’s vastly better than the Curry House up the street. The food is fresh and they have many options. I’ll admit some dishes are more successful than others. The chicken tikka masala was a bit too«coconutty» for me. But ask them for their specialities and they can steer you in the right direction. I especially recommend this place for hanging out with friends. The dining area is deceptively large with a nice backyard patio. Perfect way to forget your surroundings for a while.

Ordered delivery from here last night and was not impressed. You’d think for spending $ 40 on three items and some naan bread you’d get what you pay for but the servings were small and definitely forgettable taste-wise. That wasn’t the deal breaker for me though. I ordered food pretty late at night(around 9pm) and was quoted a delivery time of about 45 minutes to an hour. An hour and twenty minutes later I’m wondering where the hell my food is as I’m starving by this point so I call the restaurant a number of times with no answer. It took me messaging directly with Eat24, which is the delivery service the restaurant uses, to finally get some answers and my food conveniently arrived mid-messaging. Piece of advice for the owners: try answering your phone when customers call you or, at the VERY least, provide an update if the delivery is running late.
