It is now the DEADDUCK — closed for buisness. I went by today and it looks like it had been closed for a while.

I had a couple of friends visiting from Tahiti, after shopping all day in the City, it was dinner time, so as being the nice host that I am, I asked them what did they want to eat, I was thinking House of Prime Rib, more on that level, then one shouts out bbq goose and I give em this big smile and say, let’s go… this was the first place that came to mind… now that I have them on the phone, I order a whole goose for us… drive accross the bay bridge to the ghetto and hopefully noone comes up to rob our fellow visitors on E14th st… lol… We ordered 2 types of soup, so so… let me go on… we order the green veggies, good… tofu, good… frog and salted eggs with pumpkin, yummy and then the best for last… roasted goose, bbq goose, whatever u want to call it… yummiest…lol…is there anything else I should say… lol

came in after seeing the grand opening sign, asked the waitress for the house specialty and surprisingly even though their name is yummy duck, she responded the goose. if you’re a fan of roasted duck you’ll just love roasted goose. it’s a lot leaner, double the amount of meat, a slight gaminess, and the same crispy delicious skin we all love on duck. came with a decent amount of goose rice and veggies. another thing that is good was the iced milk tea here. roasted goose is a bit pricier compared to duck, but this scrumptious meal is still cheaper than a shot of goose at some clubs haha

I came here for the second time today, and, again, the food was very good. Overall, though the service and selection were a bit uneven. The first time I came for lunch our server steered us to the roast duck and roast pork combination. This came with a bowl of egg drop soup that needed salt, but was otherwise fine. Both the roast meats were delicious. I think the pork was pork belly with crispy skin, so don’t order it expecting lean meat. The second time I came for lunch with my family and they had no roast pork, just the duck, which was again really good. Our server seemed to have a hard time understanding what we wanted and my Dad’s Beef Chow Fun came out as a fried rice dish. We kind of made ourselves understood that we wanted Chow Fun and it was cheerfully replaced. Also had the honey walnut prawns(good version of that dish, not spectacular), and the Singapore rice noodles, also very good. The Chow Fun was excellent and we saw other tables ordering it. The same egg drop soup this time was salted perfectly and had tofu in it, so I’m guessing the soup at lunch is just hit or miss. My brother ordered won ton soup with noodles. I had some of the broth and it seemed like it would be a good call if you were in the mood for soup. Service both times was very friendly. Staff was good about keeping water glasses and teapot full. Portions are on the huge side and lunch for 4 came to $ 32. I’ll be back.

New and clean. Parking can be difficult during the day; not the greatest area at night. YD has a relatively small menu. It specializes in not only roast duck and BBQ pork, but roast goose. The appetizers are all meat dishes, as are the soups, noodles, noodle soups, seafood, and congee(rice porridge). At YD, you have to be in the mood for a rice or noodle plate, or a bowl of noodle soup, because along with the small appetizer meats, that’s really all they offer. It’s a quickie take-out for dinner menu, perfect for singles or couples but not really for families. Nor is this the typical Chinese«bring a crowd and let’s share eight dishes» restaurant. There just isn’t enough variety for that. There are two, only two, tofu dishes, out of 70 dishes listed. The only mention of a veggie anywhere, under any section, is a single chicken dish, and one ‘market price’ veggie side for the congee. So this is not vegetarian-, vegan-, or even flexitarian-friendly. OTOH, you can have crispy fried pork intestine as well as spiced duck chin, something I don’t think I’ve seen before anywhere(and no, we didn’t try it). Excellent house soup, very rare as I usually loathe the stuff. Pan-fried vermicelli with duck and preserved vegetable was mediocre but OK as backdrop for roast goose and crispy chicken wings. Noodles had only fatty skin shreds, no meat, and no preserved veggies, just shreds of green bell pepper. Goose was on the salty side, well lacquered skin, relatively greaseless. Also too well-done, but that’s common with Chinese delis. Chicken wings also too salty, but fresh from fryer and a lovely crispy batter, not heavy. The goose comes with a side of sweet chili sauce, which is better drizzled over the chicken wings for a really sensational combo. Whole goose can be ordered for $ 35, judging from what we got probably a 7 – 8 lb. young goose.

A friend recommended this place, so we came by to try the food. The place was pretty empty when we came in, even though it was lunch time on a Sunday. Looking at the menu, we ordered a Hainan Chicken rice, Roasted Goose and Roasted Duck with noodles. The roasted duck and goose were really good, the meat was tender and juicy. The Hainan Chicken rice was decent, but didn’t come with the special flavored rice, just plain rice. The waitress was really nice and service was fast. The price is also very reasonable. We also got unlimited refills on our cold lemon tea. Overall, the roasted meat here is definitely better than the ones you’ll get at a regular HK café. I’m coming back for more.

ordered the hainan chicken, peking duck, clams and wonton noodles. the only dish i enjoyed, was the clams. Everything else was not good. Our peking duck had hair on it, we then exchanged the plate, the new plate only had skin and fat… NO meat, the hainan chicken, the hairs on the chicken was not fully plucked out. Lost my appetite because it kept reminding me of the hair that was on my previous peking duck plate. the wonton noodle were okay. But then once we got our bill, they had overcharged us for every dish we ordered except for the clams considering it was the most expensive on the menu. they overcharged us for hainan chicken and peking duck by over a dollar when on the menu states only $ 5.75 and they charged me for the wontons noodle $ 7.50 when on the menu it says 5.75. I rather go to gold medal where it is actually good and is $ 5. I was speechless. I didnt want to bother to complain about the overcharge, just paid it left tip, I just wont be returning ever again.

This place is a hidden gem! If you’ve never had a roast goose(that’s right, not roast duck), you MUST make a stop and try it for its fantastic flavor, lean texture, and crispy crunchy skin! Wow, I don’t know, maybe this place should be called Yummy Goose instead. As others have mentioned, the cold crab is phenomenal, and you will have to call ahead of time to order the cold crab, as it takes an hour or more to prep, cook and cool down for it to become the succulent dish that it is. What’s impressive too is that the shells crack open easily without utensils. I’ve been to eateries serving tasty crabs where I needed a pair of pliers to crack open the claws/legs to get the meat out. This place will give Koi Palace a run for its money on this seafood delight, no doubt. And the wonton dumpling is the best I’ve had anywhere in the Bay Area… maybe even better than No. 9 Restaurant(9-Kee) in Richmond/Vancouver, dear I say? The wonton dumplings are perfectly seasoned, thinly wrapped to order and is why they have a crisp snap when you bite into one… fresh with tremendous flavor.

I came wanting to try Phở Ga Hai Phong, and was surprised by a cute little Chinese restaurant in its place(Yummy Duck). The food was good and reasonably priced. My husband and I just wanted to grab a quick dinner, so we opted for simple items on the menu. All of them were quite satisfying. I especially appreciated the friendly staff. :) What we had: — won ton noodle soup: quite good, standard fare — hainan chicken rice plate: rice made with chicken broth, and the chicken was well-cooked(skin tastes a bit like«salt roasted» style, which I don’t think is traditional, but is quite good) — «A Choi» sauteed with garlic: very tasty, but a little more oily than I would have liked If I lived in the area, I’d be back all the time. I’m in the neighborhood once in a while, and will try to stop by again. I especially want to try the cold crab everyone keeps talking about! :)

Very good food and good service. Came across this newly opened Chinese Restaurant and found out that it offers a variety of traditional Chinese food. The roasted duck is a must try. The Hoi Nam chicken is just one of the best I have tasted. I didn’t have a chance to try the cold crab but I will definitely come back for it.

The newly open Yummy Duck quickly became my favorite lunching place in Oakland area. The roasted duck & cold crab for sure are the best I had so far. They offer free drinks for dine in customers, and un-limited re-fill. Staff is very friendly and price is great. And they are one of the few Asian restaurants accept Credit Card which make my life much easier. Finding a parking space could be hard depended on the time of day.

Yummy Duck isn’t a typical chinese restaurant. it has southeasian culinary influences and can’t be piegeoned holed as a hong kong café or cantonese cuisine. no phở is present. menu has soups, chow mein, rice plates, seafood, appetitizers, noodles. ho fun, rice vermicelli. the specialty here seems to be the roast meats(duck, goose, pork) and hainan chicken. place is clean. service attentive. sampling: *roast goose w/ho fun(rice noodle) soup(8.50) –many lean slices of roasted goose. a little dry. wtih sweet chile sauce provided as a dip. seems overcooked. goose skin spotty black. –broth tasted of green onions, dried shallots, and some msg. *comped house soup –nice medley of dried lotus roots, carrot, and dried cole(veggie)flavors *hong kong milk tea(2.50)comped. –very flavorful with the slight british tea biterness. amongst the best in the bay leftovers: –all ingredients fresh –soup broth refilled. –excellent service for chinese eatery –peope hanging around international reminiscent of s.f. tenderloin scene. chinese lessons mandarin goose e(upward slash, ascending from low to high)
